When two or more clips are grouped together in "group objects" the cursor does not go to the beginning of the first clip in the group when one selects "stop" button. Instead it goes all the way back to the beginning of the project ! Very annoying. Win 10, i7

Hi HD

I can confirm this.

Is it a bug or is it designed that way?

Hi HDedit & CHF -

Not a new bug - just old behaviour. I can't remember it being any different.

It may be related to... Even when there are two clips grouped or selected with the timeline marker/scrubber in the selected zone, pressing "Home" takes you back to the start of the timeline - not the start of the first clip.

Cheers - Tony

I wish Cyberlink would look into this cursor jumping thing. The above ties in with another cursor action that is annoying: anytime you select an object up or down the timeline, the cursor jumps to that object rather than staying put on the timeline.

Why would you want it to stay in the timeline when you have selected the other object or other track? .

Good question. Here's just ONE example. I edit our church service every Sunday. It usually is a 1 hour video on the timeline. Titles for the minister, music leader, Bible reader is the same every Sunday, so I have them on the title track and just substitute the current Sunday service on the video timeline. Obviously, the titles would not appear at the same point on the timeline every Sunday, so when I get to the point on the timeline where I want to bring up pastor's name, I have to drag his applicable tiltle from the title track over to the appropriate spot on the timeline. BUT, when I select the title to drag over to the precise spot on the timeline, the cursor moves, and I've lost the spot on the timeline where I want to drag the title to.

You can easily add a timeline marker to indicate where you would like to place your title. You do that by right-clicking the timecode above the timelines, you can even add notation, but to actually choose a title (to move it) in your timeline without moving the cursor (scrubber) simply goes against how this program works.
I suspect no other NLE works that way either. You will find the markers and notes method very helpful.

Sony MovieStudio Platinum 13 has this feature as does Serif MoviePlus X6. I can select any object on any track without the cursor moving. Having to add a marker every time you want to get back to a spot on the timeline is very time consuming.

And...I stand corrected, if other NLEs have that function. Logic to me says if I click on a clip, that is where I want to be.
I suppose that it could be useful, depending on how it is implemented. HP Envy Phoenix/4thGen i7-4770(4@3.4GHz~turbo>3.9)

Sorry to inform you that the WEBEX webinar, on my end, was an utter mess. Every time I got near an A/V setting I got a crash. Every time it's a mess.
I can hear them, I can see them, but that is all. Must have crashed 20+ times before I quit. HP Envy Phoenix/4thGen i7-4770(4@3.4GHz~turbo>3.9)

Thank your for your effort. I don't want to belabor the point, but just in case I'm missing something, I'm going to post a screen grab to illustrate what I'm talking about. Looking at my timeline, my cursor is at the 1 minute mark and I have a title at the 4 minute mark. I want to move the title to the 1 minute mark, but when I click on the title to move it, my cursor jumps from the 1 minute mark on the timeline to the beginning of the title (4 minute mark on the timeline) and I have lost the precise point on the timeline to which I wanted to move the title.

I agree that is a pain.

If you note the exact time on the preview, you can then place your title at that exact point by observing the time in tool tip as you drag into position.

You can also use Copy and Paste, Copy or Cut the Title, put your cursor where you want, then Ctrl+V (paste) at the cursor.

If you are adding a Title from the Title room, the cursor will stay in place.
It is only when moving a clip or Title that is already on the timeline that the cursor jumps.

I'm not getting why timeline markers are inadequate for this work-flow.
However, I will let it be known to CL, it's on my list of questions I was unable to ask last night at the get-together. HP Envy Phoenix/4thGen i7-4770(4@3.4GHz~turbo>3.9)

In Edius you click (highlight) a clip ; scrubber doesn’t move.

If you want to work on a clip, or working on something connected to the clip (overlay/pip/text); you place the scrubber at the beginning of the clip – or on the clip.
Play the clip; scrubber doesn’t move forwards- or backwards. In fact, scrubber doesn’t move
anywhere unless you tell I to / move it manually.

The running around movements of scrubber in PD is often a pain.

Just something.
