Ive started trying Quicktime.mov as the file format with DNxHD codec. That codec is a free download from the Avid site. Used the HQ flavor of this codec which is just a few mb higher than the 100 mb bitrate my video is shot in. It is XVAC S 100mb 8 bit color 29.97fps with 16 bit audio. This Codec changes the file of about 8 mins and 5.5gb into a 52gb file. This was done in premiere. Opens in Powerdirector so thats a success so far.

Hello Powerdirectors
Im trying to come up with a workflow plan that will let me use the best features of diferent video softwares while managing the loss between programs. I understand Powerdirdirector cant save any lossless formats so that puts powerdirector functions at the end of the workflow.
I read a great thread here once that I jusy cant find, it was before I was up to these sort of things in my learning curve. They were changing their original file to a lossless file of some type then doing their color in Davinci then doing the cutting in powerdirector.
Ive read that the file format is not the only thing to consider when it comes to choosing lossless as the codec used with the file format is paramount. For example AVI can be lossless if the right codec is used?
What is a lossless format youd suggest that is standard to be able to save with in other video software, that powerdirector will be able to open later on? Presently Davinci will be for color, premiere for lens correction, vegas will be doing some intros and perhaps Blufftitler also, then cutting and sound and whatever else with powerdirector and its friends.
I understand there probably wont be a format/codec that they can all save as, particularly blufftitler, but will comprimise with intros as required. Mabye you can tell me about your lossless workflow between the tools you use with powerdirector to get a some puzzle pieces please?
I appreciate your time

Ive been scouring the internet looking for a LUT for my FDR x3000 and come up empty handed. Anyone know where there is one? Sony is making them for there large sensor cameras but no lucky for this one. Just want to correct to something unfancy like REC709.
Ideally what output would you want on a LUT for youtube?
Failing that whats a good plugin to just auto tune everything as a start point. ive read prodad vitascene suggested a few times but its pricey and had 600 things in it.
Thanks in advance

This will not answer your questions directly, there is a ton of tutorials that have been created for Powerdirector over many versions.
You may take a look at a few of them that catch your interest, maybe you can gleam some answers.
Powerdirector has evolved over the years.
PDToots tutorials, are made by a team of users from around the world.

Glad to have such a great Hollywood Director using Cyberlink Powerdirector for your Video Editor, you could have chosen any Video Editor.
Thankyou
I like PD Toots video tutorials, I really do. Where i live i have to pay $10 a GB for internet presently after my first 10gb though. I went $200 over my cap last month with most of that watching video about PD Just cant afford that though - im not actually on a hollywood budget.
Im glad to have such generous people helping in the forum - its really something to phone home about. Powerdictor is great. I miss editing analogue film using scissors and sticky tape but thats progress for ya'

Im nearly at the end of the first project ive done with powerdirector which has been a chance to get my head around how powerdirector works. Biggest time wastage and frustration has been Powerdirector not letting me do things in any order i want to.
Some things I have learnt:
I cant use Colordirector at the end of a project
If I split a clip after adding keyframes for cropping and zooming i have to redo all the cropping and zooming
If I add freeze frames it will delete some of the keyframe cropping and zooming already done
If i use action camera tools i cant then do any power tools actions afterward on a clip.
I have learnt that rendering clips is like a reset and i can go back and do things i didnt know i had to or hadnt wanted to do first at the the time - but thats bad practice as its going to degrade quality an sap time.
Next time I'd like to start knowing exactly what i can do when. Is there a good worklow list that will help me out?
Thanks for your time

Hi Mr. Steven Spielberg,
Welcome to our forum, I'm very glad to have you here.I have one suggestion for your problem: Have you tried to work with keyframes in our PiP Designer? I think it can help you, just double click on your clip/photo in the timeline, the PiP Designer will start. In the bottom, you will see many tracks (Position, Scale, Opacity...). There you can set your keyframes.
On the other side (left) you will see "Motion": There you can select a path for the motion you want to simulate. You can also customize it as you like. Please try this and let us know your results.
Best regards
Hicham
Thankyou for your warm welcome and reply. Im exploring PiP designer now at your suggestion.
I am presently throwing down some keyframes and seeing how i go about building a custom path.
wI see that instead of dragging a frame around as i would in regular cropping where the frame follows the path, With PiP Designer im making the video follow a path and later on ill trim off the edges with a regular style crop to remove the void.
I;m struggling to make it go where i want it to so far need to fiddle more and work out how it works, ill check back in with how im failing or succeeding

Hi Mr Spielberg -
I seriously hope you're not attempting to smooth out the action of a washing machine! That would be a nightmare! It does kinda look like it from your keyframes.
If that's the case, the aim would be to keep a particlar point (say the centre of the drum) at the same point on the screen. Is that what you're trying to do?
Cheers - Tony
Ha! The washing machine is nice and still, its me handholding the camera and and moving it to show my feet and too much laundry that needs the crop work. I was pretty much doing a lot of what you suggest, centering it on the centre of the machine but not always, i move the camera bit at the really exciting part when i turn it on and look inside. You cant add enough keyframes to seriously make something butter smooth this way, and even the amount i have already is really frustrating with the problem i decribed - grabbing the points i dont want when trying to drag and drop the crop frame. I appreciate your reply, if you dont have any secret ways to move the crop frame around then I'll just do my best and move on and remember to look through the garage for a tripod one day.

When i work with keyframes when im cropping im bumbling around a lot.
I can select the keyframe i want and it will turn red, or it will select itself and turn red as the video plays over that point.
My problem starts when i want to drag the crop window around. I can only drag it when there are cross hairs. When there are crosshairs i hold down the left mouse button and can then drag it. Unfortunatly the cross hairs appear when i mouse over any of the yellow keyframe nodes on the green path. Sometimes the red active keyframe node will be on top of or virtually on top of a different keyframe node and ill latch onto the wrong one and mess that one up when i drag it.
So i guess my question is can i select the active node on the path and drag it some other way? When i have selected the right one it can be really cumbersome getting it exactly where i want it with a mouse. Is there a way to make the crop window moveable by just using my arow keys as i can do with text in title room after ive activated it by clicking where theres a crosshair?
I know theres a lot of keyframes in the screenshot, i guess it would be a good answer to suggest i just stabilise it rather than trying to chase it around with keyframes, but im doing a little zooming to go with the chasing.
Any poweruser tips on cropping are appreciated.
Thanks for your time!

Hi there im pretty new too and liking Powerdirector and the forum. Im pretty handy with Photoshop but everything i read on the interweb was pretty consistent with ruling out Adobe, Corel and others as the best solution for video. Ive also liked Audiodirector, with a lot of scrubbing at the track I could isolate just the sound i wanted, and get rid of the kids arguing in the background.

The title of your problem is what seems confusing to some readers of your perceived problem. The scroll triangles are still there in your Title Designer screenshot. Try this: Look at the red arrow pointing the right white arrowhead. Follow this horizontally to the left arrowhead. An inch or so to the left is a small white ball. Drag the ball to somewhere away from the position to the right. You should be able to do the scrolling now.
Let us know if this fixes your problem.
Thanks for your reply. I really appreciate the time you have taken to help. I tip my hat off to anyone who can translate my title into the correct terminology.
I had one vertical scroll arrowhead, the one that points up but the down one wasnt there. Pressing the up one didnt do anything because it was already scrolled all the way up.
With the left and right vertical arrowheads although the top tips were showing it wasnt actually enough to grab and drag them.

I'm not exactly sure of the issue, but the screen shot doesn't look as it should. It could be just a matter of adjusting the Title Designer workspace to reveal the keyframe secion at the bottom.
Look for the row of 5 dots between the timeline & preview window...
Maybe the little screen capture (attached) will help.
... or maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree
Cheers - Tony
Thankyou so much this is exactly perfectly what i needed to know to fix this

Hi there
In Title Room there used to be bars down the bottom under the yellow timeline numbers. There was little arrows to the right to let me scroll through them all. If i uses a title room template with a mail title and a subtitle i could choose either and drag the effects at the start at beginning to choose where they started and finished and alter their length.
This has all dissapeared now as per the screenshot. They are not in the title room tracks where they used to be that i had edited already or in new ones i start. How do i get these back?
Thanks for your help

Your link makes no sense, all I see is an ad for a washing machine, there is no video and no screen shot of your Title room.
You can attach images directly to the forum, Click on the Blue Attachments button below the text box, and add your image file. You can even attach a short Video, less than 15-30 seconds.
Question, are you really the Movie Director? The Avatar is of the real Steven Spielberg.
Hi again I have just altered the screenshot to remove the washing machine and text and have added a red arrow pointing to where the scroll triangles used to be. These triangles allowed me to scroll through the rows for the title and subtitle and then access the feature allowing me to alter the start/stop/duration of the title being visible by dragging the end parts of the bar in the title room timeline.

The screen shot i linked to is from the title room in Powerdirector. The central element with the 'ad for a washing machine' is the video i am working on in the title room as an example. The text is the title room text i am trying to change in the title room. Below it you can see the yellow line of timestamps. Below it there used to be the feature im now missing.
Thanks for the blue button suggestion, i was looking for it when i posted originally but it didnt seem to be there. Ive edited the original post to include the image using the blue box for your convenience/
Arent we all really the movie director when we share the joy of using Powerdirector?

Hello everyone
Been using Powerdirector 15 for 3 weeks, have found the forum mandatory to getting anywhere, thankyou.
I am wanting to change the effect properties that goes along with a titles overlay. Im specifically using 'wedding secrets' presently
So ive edited the text and moved it and done what i want to do to it. The sparkles didnt move along with it however and i cant seem to click on a box to drag it over inline with thje text. I have selected the effect bar underneath the text bar (im not sure if thats the right terminology but the bars under the preview)
To the left i see a range of options. If i wanted to change the color or opacity how does one do that?
Thanks in advance.
