do a system restore to the day or week before your pc didn't like you anymore!

problem solved. be nice to your pc...

Thanks for the quick response! I did what you said but it made no difference.

Since then I tried many other "solutions" I found on the web. Nothing helped.

Sent a message to CyberLink support and waiting to hear back.

Thanks again!

Paul

Update: I finally fixed the problem. I just reinstalled PD over the original installation. All working as usual now

Thanks PepsiMan and Stevek for helping!

Quote The registry cleaner screwed up all the programs that are giving you the problem. You will have to reinstall the programs with your antivirus OFF.

Do not einstall or run the registry cleaner - ever !

Thanks for reponding

I have not had problems with any of my other programs. Plus the registry cleaner had been running since before I bought PD15. PD14 also ran quite well. This version is the only program not working. It just quit loading for no known reason :/

But I uninstalled the registry cleaner anyway. Rebooted, no change. I also tried system restore; also no change.

Yesterday, CyberLink responded to my support ticket. They sent me a file to run that was supposed to fix it. It did not!

I'm running out of hair to pull!

Thanks again, Steve!

Paul

P.S. Should I do an uninstall before reinstalling? I am not sure I can find my registration information :/
I forgot to mention: I checked my system and found RichVideo IS installed.

I also installed the latest patch. No change :/

This is madening ... please help!

Quote Get rid of any and all Registry Cleaners -- if you are using one. They usually do more harm than good.

Thanks for the quick response! I did uninstall my registry cleaner and rebooted, but it made no difference. Since then I tried many other "solutions" I found on the web, rebooting after each one. Nothing helped. Sent a message to CyberLink support and waiting to hear back.

Hello.

I've been using PD15 since it came out with no problems. But today I tried to launch it and got a message that "RichVideo not installed, click OK to install or Cancel to close PowerDirector."

I tried both options many times with no luck.

I also tried restarting and hard re-boots. Both did nothing.

I'm running Windows 7 Pro and have never had this problem before. I have not installed anything new since the last time I used PD the day before yesterday.

I searched for an answer to this but haven't found anything.

Please help!

Thanks in advance,

Paul

Quote: When I create a Snapshot from a 360 video, then upload it to Facebook, the photo shows up flat, not in 360. Is there anything I need to do in order to make it show up as a 360 photo?

Did you look at/read the instruction on facebook to upload and view the image? I know that there are special instructions for uploading to YouTube and that it takes hours for the 360 version to be available. The 2D version on YouTube is availabe until the 360 is ready.

How long did you wait?

It's the same for me in both YouTube and Facebook. After uploading they appear flat, but after a while (not sure how long) they appear in 360 view.
Quote Dear PowerDirector Users,

Please use this thread to submit suggestions for future versions of PowerDirector. Suggestions can be any of the following:

- UI or usability improvements.

- program feature improvements.

- main program features*.

Improve speed! PD14 wasn't too bad but 15 crawls on my machine...and I have a pretty muscular machine and vid card.

Also I'd like to see PowerDirector be able to stitch 360 videos & photos.

Thanks for asking :)

Quote Click on the PiP room/Downloaded. Change your aspect ratio to 9:16, 3:4, 16:9 to see where they show up.

Thanks! I tried all aspect ratios...they still don't show up.
Hello all. I did a search for 'pip' and got 644 hits. I can't read them all.

My problem is I've downloaded about 7 pip objects from here and successfully installed them all (at least that's what the message said).

But when I go into the PiP room, only one of them shows up.

What am I missing?

Thanks, Paul Harvey
FYI to all: Powerdirector support contacted me with several suggestions. I had already tried them all except for one: disabling hardware acceleration. After I did that, things seemed to go back to normal. Yay!

Thanks everyone for trying to help!

Quote: I have also had this problem with PD14 crashing after updating to 7207.

However in my case I tracked the problem to being caused by some problem/conflict with Nvidia`s last couple of drivers

I kept getting the crash in PD14, tried everything like clean install, add more ram and still kept happening

So I took my video`s on to my other pc which is a very similar spec except for the Nvidia card and found that PD14 worked fine

So I then came back on to my main pc and tried again and still kept crashing, so I uninstalled all Nvidia software & drivers then ran PD14 and it ran perfect again

So after trying some different drivers, I found the last Nvidia driver that I could use without getting crashes was version 359.06

This may not help those of you with another brand of card, but for those with a Nvidia card, it maybe worth a try.

Thanks James. I checked with Nvidia and found the latest driver for my card is 341.95. I just installed it but it made no difference. Doesn't matter though. Powerdirector ran fine with my old driver (241.81). Nothing went wrong until I installed the patch. Thanks for helping anyway; hopefully your info will help others!

Quote: do NOT install this patch.

I happily bought PD14 last month running on my Windows10 computer. I am importing AVI.

All has been fine, but then I installed this patch. Now the audio is garbled just for music. It plays a bit slower and garbled, although video looks fine. And dialogue sounds fine in the same track.

I had to re-install PD14 from DVD disk and now it works fine again. I will NOT be installing a patch anytime soon.

Did you have to uninstall before reinstalling? Did you have to enter you CD key & serial number again?

Thanks,

PaulHarvey

A suggestion, Contact CL tech support and provide the info

1. DxDiag

2. Snapshot of the whole editing room after opening the project

3. Snapshot of Preferences->General, Preferences->Display, Preferences->Hardware Acceleration

4. Use the screen recorder to record a short video to show the symptom. If you can upload the info to your personal cloud and share the files to CyberLink. Or after contacting CyberLink support, they'll provide an ftp site to upload the required info.

Thank you for the quick response, I'll give it a shot.

Hello. I installed this patch yesterday (March 14) and ever since, editing in PD14 has been horrible. I've done four projects so far. The first project went OK, but editing the other three was like working in mud. Everything I do suffers a five to ten second delay before it starts or is completed. For example, after clicking 'Play' it takes about six seconds to start. Then, after a few seconds of play, it stops completely for about ten seconds before it continues. This happens no matter which preview quality I use.

Switching from Edit to Produce takes at least ten seconds. Splitting a clip takes about five seconds.

I am not editing 4k and none of this ever happened before I installed the patch.

Did the patch change some settings that I can change back? Or can I uninstall the patch to get my old version back?

Windows 7 Professional.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Quote: Sorry for the trouble! The only place beta patches are available is on this forum, and Dafydd makes the posts "stickies" so they're always at the top of the threads. Here's the one you want:

"Trouble?" You must be joking after the time and trouble you put in for me!

In any event, it seems to have worked! You and ynotfish were correct: it does take some "coaching," but it works as you guys described!

Thanks so much! I think now I can give my t, h, a, n, k, and s keys a rest! And I still have some chest hair left!

I'd love to repay the favor. If you ever need help with Photoshop or Lightroom CC, gimme a yell!

Thanks...for the last time, I hope

Quote: Ok. Chances are that the issues are caused by my creating the trackers in the newer beta version 2221 and you running the 2109 version.

There's very little risk in applying the beta patch now (the early adopters would have found any serious issues) and there's a very good chance that these issues will disappear. I suggest you download and install the patch then see how PD behaves.

I can't find it. I tried the link you gave several posts ago but it doesn't go anywhere. So I went to the PD updates page but the only update available was for 2109. So I googled it and the only hits were for PD12. Where is the patch for 14?

Quote: In the unlikely event that it causes any new or worse problems, all you'd need to do is uninstall PD, reinstall the original version and then update it to the 2109 patch and you'll be back to where we are right now.

I've been leery about uninstalling and reinstalling because I read people are having trouble with it. In fact, I still have PD11 installed cuz I'm afraid to uninstall it because of other peoples' problems.

But at this point I'll try anything :/

Thanks,

Paul
Quote: I've had times when it takes PD a long time to open and generate thumbnails. It usually happens when opening an older project and it only happens the first time I open it. Hopefully if you close and reopen PD it will behave normally.

The choppiness was probably related to all the prep work PD was doing. I had set the Preview Quality to HD on my end, but it might be set to Full HD on your end and you could try lowering it....I wonder if the tracker issues inside the MT tool are related to the prep work as well. Maybe that was all just a bad dream and if you close and reopen PD now everything will be OK. It's worth a shot, isn't it?

The thumbnail thing (or any of the others mentioned) never happened to me, even after working for hours. And when this happened I had just re-booted and had no other programs running. But you were right: I just re-launched PD and tried again. The choppiness was gone, but numbers 2 and 3 above still happened.

And as before, your Tracker 1 was there but ran the entire length of the clip...nothing like your screen shot above. And when I clicked 'Add a Tracker,' Tracker 1 disappeared and only Tracker 2 was there. Yet when I played the clip on the timeline, your blurs where there. And, as usual, my tracker didn't budge (this time I'd focused on the back of his jacket).
Quote: Here's your handbraked file. You could also just point to your produced video when PD asks for the handbraked version. That will work perfectly as long as the the two clips are the same length or the tracking scene starts at the same point on the timeline. Any additional content afterwards is fine.

Ok, got the files. I put the handbraked version back where it was and your PaulHarvey.pds found it. Now MORE oddness! (I didn't think that was possible)

1) It slowed PD to a crawl. For example, it took a few minutes for all the thumbnails to show up on the timeline...and there weren't that many. Then the vid played choppy as hell. Entering the motion tracker room took almost a minute and the vid played even choppier in there.

2) When playing the vid from the timeline, your trackers behaved as normal. When playing it in the Motion Tracker room, they didn't appear at all even though there was a tracker bar next to Tracker 1. It ran the entire length of the clip. There were no other trackers.

3) When I tried to add another box, a big white rectangle appeared in the center of the screen and I couldn't do anything with it.

In all my previous attempts (lost count), none of these had ever happened.

I should note: When trying this, I was working from a fresh hard re-boot.

I'm down to my chest hair now sealed

I really appreciate your time and trouble (I'm tired of typing 'Thanks again.')
