You're right! With this knowledge in hand, I can fix all that in between projects. Thanks a tonsload!
Welp, turns out it was actually a problematic file in the timeline. XX
Man, thanks so much for helping me out with this.

Welp....... see, this is exactly what I was talking about. You can give up, 100% guilt-free.
What's really frustrating is the Intel driver update software isn't working. It scans my drivers, and doesn't say any of them need updating.

And I'm sure there's some software that fixes the Intel Updater software, but then 90% of the time *that* software won't work, so then I have to install a software to fix the fixer software and it all comes tumbling down, and I'm on my deathbed, having spent 89 years fixing convoluted computer problems just so I can do some very simple project.

My point is, thank you enormously for the help but is there a way to do juuuust enough to get the rendering to work? I don't know what SFC even means, and I fear all sorts of problems that could occur if I update windows. I just want to be able to render this video.
Aye aye. I'll get to that now, though I did do a new DxDiag first. So here it is just in case it's helpful.
This DxDiag is a bit older, hopefully it still applies. I'll make a new one when I get back from work.
If I just hit the Start button immediately, it will render fine. But it's stuck at .AVI by default, which won't do. Switching to other formats kills it.
Go to the Produce tab, but as soon as I click on something, it locks up immediately. Tried 5 times. Restarted and tried 5 times more. This is far from the most computer heavy project I've made. What's up?
The crossfade glitch is what happens to a crossfade if you alter something in the timeline beforehand. It causes it to get all messed up. I know that they can be fixed by simply restarted Power Director, but if you don't think to do that, it will RENDER that way.

Then maybe you'll have to go to sleep. Then maybe when you wake up, you only have another hour or two of fast internet with which to upload it to Youtube. Then maybe halfway through uploading it to youtube, you're watching it back and finally catch the crossfade glitch.

I would really like to have this glitch fixed.
Welp, resetting the software fixes this.
I set an audio track to be at a low volume, but now all of a sudden it blasts at full force, even if I set it to be all the way muted. It's like this in the render too. What's crazy is I had a test-render of this project before, and this didn't start happening until just now.
Well then, I'll have to look for that stuff! Thanks an insanely lot!
Okay sounds good; here you go
So I've made a number of posts asking about how to get the speed on my PD up. It's often just fine, but just as often nigh unusably slow; the kind where every click preceeds a five-to-eight second wait. I've toyed with Sony Vegas on the same computer, and not had nearly any slowdown issues.

Examining the PC usage in Task Manager, I can identify that Vegas uses about 1/3rd of my CPU. Power Director uses about 40% of my Ram, but will max out every hertz I have upon doing anything complicated. I have 3ghz.

My understanding is that 3ghz should be pretty high. If I were to have, say, 4.5 or something, would I just be facing softened versions of the same problems?

The version of Vegas I have is pretty old and very outdated, so are any up-to-date programs like this?

Like I said I've made posts like this before, so I already do the following things:
Clear the file cache of videos I'm not using
Ensure unnecessary and CPU-heavy programs are closed
Flick all the correct switches in preferences
Will ocasionally lower the quality of the preview window when I can
Probably others I can't think of

Edit: Did a little bit more research on how Hertz work. I think 4 would actually be pretty good, wouldn't it? lol
Imonit
I see. I wouldn't have thought of that! Thanks~
Let's say I make a bunch of crossfades. Then, I go back to the beginning of the timeline and change something. Now, all crossfades that proceed it are messed up.

Instead of slowly fading from A to B as a crossfade is intended, it first JUMPS straight from A to B instantly. Then it fades from B to A, which is the opposite of what it's supposed to be. Then, it JUMPS back to B.

So basically, if I do anything near the beginning, I have to re-do all my crossfades again. That fixes them, but what's going on?
Sweet, thanks!
Yeah the trim window generally keeps being useful for the specific things I keep needing to cut, because of how quickly you can stamp in the time code.

See the thing is, I know I can zoom in all the way, but that's my problem: I don't *want* to have to zoom in all the way and wait for every preview cell to update (because on my computer at least, they take a while to show their true image), I want to see if there's a way to fix the Preview window and make it reflect the frame it's truly on all the time.

If there's not the oh whhhhell thanks for giving the best advice that there is
Oh, that. XD Yeah I know how to do that, that's what I meant by "zoom in" all the way.

The "preview" I'm primarily talking about is the preview display monitor thingymabob on the near-upper right corner of the screen.

The secondary 'preview' I speak of is within the Trim window. How it shows the last frame you've picked out and stuff, you know?
