The crossfade glitch

The crossfade glitch is what happens to a crossfade if you alter something in the timeline beforehand. It causes it to get all messed up. I know that they can be fixed by simply restarted Power Director, but if you don't think to do that, it will RENDER that way.

Then maybe you'll have to go to sleep. Then maybe when you wake up, you only have another hour or two of fast internet with which to upload it to Youtube. Then maybe halfway through uploading it to youtube, you're watching it back and finally catch the crossfade glitch.

I would really like to have this glitch fixed.

I think I know what you're talking about.

You have a bunch of clips in place and then you make an edit like trimming a clip and somehow the downstream clips break at a crossfade (or maybe even overlap) transition. So you end up with all the clips before that point moving to the correct locations but the clips at (and after) the affected transition all stay in their orginal locations. When you preview or produce, you see the leading clip going black at the affected transition because the two clips have been pulled apart. Is that it?

I just noticed this the other day, and I deleted the affected transition then highlighted everything to the right of that area. I then moved those clips back to the correct position and replaced the transition. I didn't know that closing then reponing PD might fix it.

This occurred for me with the latest version (2907.1) but I don't yet know if this issue has always been present or if it only showed up as part of the latest patch. Are you using the latest version or 2604?

I think it would be very helpful if you saw that you were able to repeat the problem by making a certain kind of edit, or if the problem always happened with a specific transition. That would give the engineers at CL a big head start in identifying and correcting the problem.

Yeah, that thread sounds more like what OP was seeing, and it's definitely different from what I was describing here.

In my case, if you look at the timeline you can see the clips downstream from (to the right of) the trimmed clip shift to the left and actually out from under their transitions.

Basically, I end up with no transition on the trailing edge and the full transition at the start of the paired clip. The issue on the other thread has no visible changes to the timeline but the transition previews are broken until you close and reopen PD. I think this issue is permanent and will persist when you reopen the project unless you catch it in time. Also, with this problem Undo does what it's supposed to do

I'll see if I can repeat the issue I've seen and put up a short screen-capture video to show what's happening.
