Quote When you say "the zoom feature", what exactly do you mean?

Are you saying you have a video of, say, a phone and you want to digitally scale up the image so you can see only one icon on the phone's face?

That's possible to do -- but it you will have a resolution issue so you won't be able to maintain the image's sharpness.

But before we go there, can you clarify what exactly your goal is? What effect are you trying to achieve?

And can you confirm whether you are trying to zoom in on a photo or a video?

Hello

Yeah I am a bit vague got this filthy cold right now

Ok so,I want to zoom in and out on part sof my video I am editing. But having a hard time using the zoom function

As in placing the zoom in the correct place then zooming back out again

Either its too fast, too slow or the zoom is in the wrong place

Thank you
HI Everyone

I just cannot get the hang of using the zoom function, maybe Im old, lol. I just cannot see to zoom in or out at the right place and time
Powerdirector365 is great, apart from this zoom in and out stuff, not long had this thought.

Been practising on old videos

Dont know why there cant be a simpler way of zooming in and out, like a plus or minus shortcut key

I want to use the zoom function,as I have my own Youtube channel and aware of how small the details are on say a smart phone or tablet,or laptop
Appreciate any advice to make my life a bit sweeter,ha,ha

Thanks
Hi Jeff

No Jeff ,I have version 11 of the Audio Drector Sorry for being vague, quite new to all this

Ok so i have updated to Audio Director version 12 still getting same message.

So I have cleared out the old pds files,

(as I have them already editied and produced (for uploading to my Youtube channel) Going to start from scratch.I have just done a quick test of a new video and can open that one fine

Also tried the pack project feature got that to open fine too

Thanks again Jeff,
Hello

Since I updates to Powerdirector version 20 I cannot access my pds files.I have tried several things including a fresh install too
And been getting a message as below

I havent moved or renamed any files too. Using a PC with Windows 10 Pro 64 bit OP

Cant figure this out, been using Powerdirectors only a few months

Any help would be appreciated
Quote Hi,
Just for completeness - video can be edited to frame level, but audio can be edited to 1/10 frame level if Preferences>Editing>Enlarge timeline scale for audio track is selected.
In this situation the timeline scrubber still snaps to video frames, the hotkeys also snap to video frames, but audio keyframes can be selected on the audio level line at 1/10th frame markers.

Didn 't know about the ',' and '.'. I really gotta start using hotkeys. Great tip!

Yes its a great tip,

I did know too,ha,ha. Quite new to PD365 and video editing .I must read the manul and learn more,

Update

So I have been playing around with some old video and practising making fine edits here is what I have discovered (to my joy,ha,ha)

I have zoomed in and found the cursor exactly on the start of a frame and make a cut it snaps to that frame

And also am leaving the Seek by setting to frames for now, found that by setting seconds or minutes it gives me a wider range

Thanks again for eveyones help
Quote I find the Hotkey, "," (comma, previous frame) and "." (period, next frame) quicker to use than mouse clicking the preview window arrows.

Not really necessary to be zoomed in on the timeline unless desired, you are going through the footage a frame at a time. When you have the scrubber at the correct spot, just use "Ctrl T" to split.

Jeff

Thanks Jeff, appreciate your help. Great tip there, will try that out!
Hi Everyonelaughing

As a fairly new learner of PD365 verision 19.6 I'm finding it a little bit difficult to trim my videos in a precise way.

Some of my cuts are not in the right place and I need to go back a step to correct each time

So what would be the best way of doing the precise edits?

,I had found the seek by function, via the preview window and selected frames. And using the left and right arrow keys to

step through each frame, to trim and cut my video

is this the correct thing to do,Im not sure.? I have zoomed into my timeframe too also

Any help or advice would be welcome

Thanks
Thanks everyone for you replies, much appreciated!

Looks like Youtube has just launched an Autochapter feature for any new videos that are uploaded.

Not sure how it works in practice

As I haven't used it yet, but keen to see how this works. Will be a great timesaver for sure,he,he

Thanks very much
Quote PD offers no automatic size splitting be it on time or filesize, you simply do it manually.

Several possible methods:
1) Edit as complete project and then use the "Range Produce" option to create however many pieces of video you want at your defined break points.
2) Edit as complete project and then manually copy the pds file for as many pieces you desire and manually cut the timeline of each pds file to create individual projects at your defined break points.
3) Edit as complete project and "Produce" one large final video. Bring video back into a new PD edit session and manually split at your desired break points and "Produce" each piece.

Thanks a lot,I will look into this a bit more
Hi everyonesmile

So I have had a look around in the help menu of PD365 and so far,not found an answer. As I am very new to PD 365,

I have a few fairly long videos, (20 min or so) Which I am editing, right now,but will be uploading to my Youtbe channel soon

Can I break the video into sections?,To keep the viewer interested and make it easier to naviagte? If so how?

I have seen chapters but that looks like for producing dvd's .icould be wrong

Sure, I am aware I can create chapters in Youtube, but I want to make sure the sections of my video, sync with the description, before uploadinghe,he

Appreciate any help

Thanks
Quote Hi David -

In the old days, I might have had the energy to try to work out how to modify those .xml files found in the sub-folders at C:\Program Files (x86)\CyberLink\templates\Creative Design Pack\Bloggers Social Media Pack Vol. 2\Titles...

A simpler approach is to create separate Video Overlays/PiP Objects and combine them with titles on separate tracks.

Here are some Sound Cloud Video Overlays/PiP Objects I just uploaded to DirectorZone:

Sound Cloud Beat 5sec
Sound Cloud Slide 5sec
Sound Cloud Spin 5sec

Sound Cloud Beat 10sec
Sound Cloud Slide 10sec
Sound Cloud Spin 10sec

... & here are some titles that could be used with the graphics:

Sound Cloud Beat Checkout 5sec
Sound Cloud Slide Checkout 5sec
Sound Cloud Spin Checkout 5sec

Sound Cloud Beat Checkout 10sec
Sound Cloud Slide Checkout 10sec
Sound Cloud Spin Checkout 10sec

Used together, they look like this:

Here's a packed project, in case you need to seem them in situ.

Cheers - Tony

Thank you very much Tony for this.Just awesome!

thanks also for taking your time to put this togheter for me.I shall take a close look when I have another rest day off from work

Quote Hello,

Speech bubbles are usually available in the Overlays (PiP Objects) tab. See speechbubbles.jpg for details. You can combine these with title templates to create the effect you want.

You can also try going to DirectorZone and do a keyword search for "speech" or other words to find more. See speechbubbles2.jpg as an example. There they have them as both overlays and title templates.

Now there has been new content updated .In particular the "Bloggers Social Media Pack vol 2")

I was hoping there would be a Soundcloud call out,but none so far
So my question is this:

How do I make say a speech bubble or something to let my Youtube viewers/subscribers,know I have a Soundcloud account too?
I am thinking of something in the Ttitle room, but don't know where to look or start

Hi,

In the latest version the Express Project mode has been superceded by the Video Template mode. Video Templates are accessed via the plugin module or in the Project Room.

Quote Hi ambientdave -

Looking for "Express"?

If you're using PDR365, you'll see that many of the modules (PiP Designer, Title Designer, Particle Designer) can be used in "Express" mode or Advanced. "Express" mode is just simplified, so there are less editing options. That won't help your needs.

Maybe you mean Video templates? These are templates with placeholders, so you can just insert your videos & photos into a pre-structured template. They're designed around different themes. In previous versions of PDR, these were labeled "Express Projects", so that may be what you're thinking of.

... or maybe you mean Magic Movie Wizard, again in themes, which selects parts of you videos and inserts them into video templates.

... or Theme Designer, which is sort of the same but you select which clips go where.

Have a look under Plugins and check out the options.

Cheers - Tony

I was looking at video showing express mode for making a Youtube channel trailer, but although I have seen the rooms.I cannot see an express mode button to press anywhere
