Quote I understand what you're saying, and if that's the behavior you're seeing, it would also make sense that the transitions break.

However, I don't see that behavior at all. If I have a bunch of images all in a row and I select a bunch of them and change their duration, the selected ones get shorter and the clips to the right automatically fill in, keeping the row intact.

The behavior you've described sounds more like what happens when you've got A/V content on several tracks and PD can't reduce the total duration of the selected clips because it can't pull up the content on the other tracks.

Please take a screenshot of your timeline and save it to a JPG or PNG file, then use the Attachments button below the forum's text box to share it here.

Thanks for the reply! I was working on another slideshow today and was not having the problem as I described above UNTIL I had separated out some pictures from some others and left a gap between the two sets of pix. Then when I tried lowering the duration of the second set (all highlighted, no transitions yet), the first half of the pix got a blank put between them and kept the same amount of space occupied, and the second half of the pix all stayed together and had no blanks between them. See the attached pic with a before and after (top is before lowering duration). I don't understand why it leaves the blanks in the first place and I really don't understand why it put blanks between the pictures only in the first half of the group surprised

Thank you in advance for any help you can give me on this one. It seems to be very random but I'm sure there's something in here that will make sense once someone points it out!
I am building slideshows using the Full Editor. I am attempting to match the end of some music to the end of a series of pictures. All of the pictures are "connected" i.e. the end of one and the start of the next is the same instant in time. When I select a number of pictures then click the little clock to change the duration, once I select the new duration and click OK, the pictures come apart from each other and there is a blank space between them. It appears that PD is attempting to keep the total amount of time that all of the selected pictures used by changing the duration of the actual pictures but putting blank space between each of the pictures to keep the overall time the same. This is not what I want - it forces me to go back and put all the pictures together again by selecting each one and dragging it to the end of the one before it. Am I missing something here? Any info on how to get around this would be very appreciated!

Thanks

PS - I also wanted to note that when the pictures get separated and you have transitions between them, when you move a picture to connect it up with it's predecessor, the transitions all dissapear and must be added back in once you connect the pictures - also a pain.
Quote I don't do things the way you described but I beleive that you can lock the audio track and then adjust the duration of the slides. After you finish then you can unlock the audio track.

This was a great solution, thank you!
I am generating slideshows and putting music with them. Once I get the music tracks in I need to go back and adjust the duration of all the slides so the end of the pictures occurs at the same time as the end of the music. The problem I have is that when I highlight all the pictures and change the duration, the audio moves along with the pictures and I lose all the crossfades that the various music tracks had. How do I unlink the audio and pictures so I can move the pictures without moving the music?

Thanks!

Norm
I am building multipl slideshows using the full editor, not the slideshow editor. When I add music I then have to adjust the duration of all the pictures so they end when the music ends. I highlight all the pictures, click on the clock to change duration, adjust the duration and click OK. More often than not (but NOT all the time!), some portion of the pictures remain connected and the others now have a gap between them. Am I doing something wrong or is this an anomoly with PD? Your help is appreciated!

Try this: Go to the Create Disc/2D Disc tab. Click the DVD button near the top left of the screen and change it from 4.7 to 8.5 with the drop down arrow.

Thanks so much for the info. I found it and changed it and a disc is in process. There are so many things that the software does you just don't know where to look to find the answers!

I am trying to burn a project to disc. PD reports that 6,703MB is needed. I have a double layer disc in the drive which is empty and has 7,960MB free. However, when I click on Burn, PD gives me an error message that there is insufficient disc space. I have no idea why this is happening, can anyone shed some light on this? Can PD not burn double layer discs?

Thanks!

Image8 shows the "Around the World" menu
Image9 shows the "World Monopoly" menu

I'm unsure what you are trying to show. But correct, the changes one does to one menu say, "Around the World" and saves it will not be reflected in another menu like "World Monopoly"

Jeff

OH MY GOSH, that slipped right past me. I have no idea why there was two different menus there but when I re-selected the modified ATW menu and Applied To All, everything got corrected and I now have 4 buttons on the page!!! Hallelujah!!!!!!!

Thanks so much for bearing wiwth me!

There was never any need for you to change the setting for Buttons per page from 4 to 1 in the Image7.jpg which gives you that result. Leave that setting alone if you want 4 thumbnails and not 1 per page.

I used that around the world menu a little over a year ago for a project. Attached is the screen recording result of adding the extra button (thumbnails).

Also attached is a screenshot with instructions on accomplishing the results od adding an extra thumbnail in the PD17 menu designer.

You got everything done right. Just don’t overdo things that you don’t know anything about. Jeff’s advice is good for creating the menus properly. You may want to read about the Menu Designer auto align button and use it if you want. I believe that you can have at least 14 thumbnails on the Titles/Chapters menu if you want.

Edit: This forum timed out, so I had to reduce the screen recording size to be smaller to try to get it posted.

Thanks to both of you for your feedback! Attached are two scrrenshots. I opened PD and did not load any content. Went to Template Designer and selected Around The World. Went to the Titles/Chapters level and added a fourth button. In Image8.jpg attached you can see all three levels. The root level I left unchanged. The Titles/Chapters level I added a fourth button. The Subtitles level was left unchanged. When I added three titles to the project they were all on the Scenes page. When I added the fourth title, I then got two Scenes pages, one with three, one with one. As you can see in the second image, the Buttons Per Page only has 1, 2, 3. There isn't a choice for 4. Obviously I'm still missing something, please let me know what!

Thanks again for your efforts, they are very appreciated.

Quote This thread may answer your question on how to create those buttons: https://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/0/81602.page#335850 .

Hi,

Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it. I did look at your referenced thread, but that deals with stretched images rather than adding more titles to your menu. I've attached two pictures to this message. The first one is a project with three titles. I used a pre-made template that supports three titles. Everything looks fine, there are three buttons on the "Scenes" title page. However, when I modify the title to have four scenes then add the fourth title to the project, things go bad as you can see from the second image. Now there are four "scenes" pages, each with one title on it, and you can see what the menu structure now looks like. I'm about ready to give up on this as I've tried everything I can think of to make a template, either from the Templates page, or one I created from scratch, support more titles than it originally did. In the case of the title template shown in the attached pictures or one that I did on my own, starting with the blank template that supports three titles, every time I add even one more menu button, things go bad and I don't have a title page with four icons, I have four pages with one icon. How in the world do you make this work????

Thanks for any help you can give me!

I've watched a number of tutorials that talk about adding chapters. I'm trying to figure out what chapters are used for other than selecting a particular position in the video/slideshow. Are they required?

What I am trying to accomplish is putting multiple slideshows on one DVD and allowing the viewer to select whioch slideshow they want to watch. I thought I could just add projects to the menu then the viewer could select which one he wants to watch from the Scenes menu.

Thanks for any help you can give me on this.
Hi everyone,

I need some help with DVD menu authoring/modification. I am still relatively new to PowerDirector so please forgive me if I ask dumb questions! So I have a number of slideshows that I want to put all on one disc. I pulled them in as PowerDirector projects and have a menu structure as shown in the first attachment. If I add another slideshow for four in total, I get the menu structure shown in the second attachment. I've watched all the related instuction videos but cannot find one that explains what I want to do. I want one DVD to contain a number of slideshows (I do know that you can't have more than 14). So I tried to create a menu template that had 14 buttons to select which scene you wanted to watch. However, when I use my custom template, I don't get a menu structuer with 14 scenes shown on one page, I get the menu structure shown in attachment 3 where there is only one slideshow per page instead of 3 or 4 or 14. I cannot figure out what's going wrong here. I tried making a new template that had 14 entries, one for each slideshow. When I apply it, it still only has one menu entry for each scene page. I can't figure out how to make the Scenes page show 14 entries instead of 14 pages with one entry per page. I would sure appreciate any help. I have watched all the instructional videos there are on the Cyberlink site as well as YouTube and none of them ever address this issue.

Any help or explanations would be appreciated. Thanks!
Quote Go to the Windows 10 Control Panel/AutoPlay. Scroll and you should see (PowerDVD 12) appear in several category including in Blue-ray discs. Click the down arrow and change it in each category to what you want and click Save.

Thanks! My autoplay options were different than you described but I just changed the "Removable Drive" option to "Take no action" and now PowerDVD doesn't launch when you put a disc in the drive.
So I got Power DVD 12 with a Blu-Ray drive that I purchased. Really like it except for one annoying thing. I cannot get it to NOT launch when I put a Blu-Ray in a drive. I've taken care of the DVD configuration to stop this, but cannot find similar controls/check boxes, etc. to stop PDVD from auto-launching. Can someone please tell me how to do this? There appears to be nothing in the tools/options menus for Blu0-Rays. I have also gone into the Windows (10) configuration where you set default apps, and PDVD is not listed under any category. Help!

Thanks!

More than likely you use the Add Image button instead of the Set Background button to the right of it. The Image default is Fade In and fade out which you could simply uncheck and just leave it. Hit the play button to ensure the fade is gone now.

It may be better to use the set background button to add the image like you did the first time.

Thanks so much, problem solved! Took away the "picture" and added a "background image" and it worked just as I hoped!

For whatever reason, I have had real issues understanding how the menu screen is created and works. It's like there is two seperate places to edit the screen and neither looks like the other undecided. I guess slowly but surely it will become easier as I work with it more. Again, thanks for your help!
I made one slide show a month or so back and the disc menu works as intended. The background picture just stays there all the time. Fast forward to project two, another slide show. The background picture fades in and out and for the life of me I can't find the "magic" I did on the first one to make it stop fading. The fase boxes are all unchecked. Please tell me what I'm miossing!

Thanks
