Quote There are other options for that SFF workstation. There is a low profile GTX 1050 Dual slot dual fan unit available on Amazon. Better still is the Quadro P600 which uses the GP107 Chip, the same one in the GTX 1050. It has a lower TDP of 40 watts, lower passmark of 3223, and low profile single slot which should fit perfectly in that SFF case: https://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu.php?gpu=Quadro+P600&id=3729 . Quadro P600 link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06X9DWQM6?tag=videocardbenchmark-20&linkCode=osi&th=1&psc=1 .

The gtx 1050 low profile is available in 2GB and 4GB memory size and cost less. The PC power supply will need to be replaced with a beefier one. For the price of a video card the OP can save say $1000 on a new laptop and have good performance on his SFF pc. Why not….

how about this:

Dell Precision Mobile Workstation Model 3541

Processor I7-9850H
Clock Speed2.6 GHz
Max Turbo Speed4.6 GHz
Number of Cores6-core
Cache12 MB

Installed Memory size32 GB (2666 MHz)

NVIDIA Quadro P620

Quote If you really, really need a laptop for video editing, get an used one that has a nVidia Quadro video card.

The gaming ones, with a nVidia GTX class of cards are often plagued by incompatibilities with CyberLink software (their Optimus software won't switch to nVidia gaming cards when DP is in use, because... it's not a 3D gaming app).

As always, the GPU is only half of ecuation (encoding part), for actual editing you need raw CPU power. A small i7 quad core won't be as effective as a Xeon desktop CPU. Comparation of capabilities can be done below. Your CPU has a 9126 score, but the Quadro 600 GPU is trully ancient:

https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_lookup.php?cpu=Intel+Xeon+E3-1245+V2+%40+3.40GHz&id=1191

The list of laptop systems tops out at about a score of 8200 with a monster of laptop (pricewise):
https://www.pcbenchmarks.net/fastest-laptop.html

I would like to change the Quadro 600, but as fas as I know this is the only Small formfactor Video card that can be installed in this SFF box

Let's try something different this time. See this sticky: https://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/80133.page and post the DxDiag.txt on your HP Workstation with decent performance. Users here can get a better idea on what you are used to and may suggest a laptop with similar performance that may be within your budget.

I know that this topic has been discussed many times, but I'm trying to get my head arround it again. And to be honest, I' m not getting any wiser reading this forum nor google searches.

I'm looking for a LAPTOP, that will not break my budget (1000-1300$) that will work very well with Cyperlink. Im editing home movies 4K and slideshows for personal use, and would like to have a laptop that might be lowering my current render time, and work responsive on the timeline

Googling the web for "best laptop for video editing" gives many many different opinions.
So best is to ask CyberLink people what they uses with success.

Currently I'm using an old HP Workstation with Xeon processor and the result are desent, but I need to more mobile..

I don't mind getting used gears on ie. ebay

Please have patience with me as I have yet to find the right answer....
Looking for good ideas
thx

Quote I think PD18 doesn't do it the way you want using the same photo as a blurry background.
The way I do it.
Add the photos to the track 1
I adjust the time I apply the transition,
Select all photos, Copy and Paste on track2
I select all the photos from Track 1 and apply Pan and Zoon to fill the screen.
In the FX range, I apply the blur effect to all photos.
On track 2 I usually apply Pan and Zoon to give smooth movement.

I took a screenshot of how to do it, I had to change something that is causing problems in the transition in PD18, in addition to the problems presented in this video
Follow the mouse on the video

Thanks
This was exctly the same method I'm currently are using, but when you have a mix of vertial and normal picture on the timeline, is a little more cumbersom to select only the clips that are vertical. In my magix world I have a "template" that I can apply to all vertial pictures and the whole process are made.
Is there an easy way to overlay vertical taken pictures (take with mobile) with a defocused background instead of showig black bars when combinig with "normal" 16:9 pictures. I know how to doit manually by having a copy of the picture scaled and defocused on a upper layertrack , but I would like to the be a stored as a "template".

The "Graphics Execution Units" numbers are irrelevant for PowerDirector, because they are not used during the decoding/encodig process, they are used only in 3D games.
The decoder/encoder is a separate hardware block on the CPU die, and it's capabilities are listed here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_Quick_Sync_Video#Hardware_decoding_and_encoding

However, CPU cores are very usefull in a NLE software as Power Director.

The 1068G7 is not released yet. 1065G7 base clock being only 1.3GHz makes it a lousy processor for multiple threads apps like PowerDirector. Those are good for internet browsing and word editing.

The 10710U variant is even weaker as processing power.1.1GHz will be absolutelly dismal.
Actually any laptop is weak in serious video editing. Low power laptops like the ones that would be using above CPU's are even worse.

today I 'm using Xeon E3 workstation, but this definitly not portable, so could you recommend any laptop that will do without breking any privat persons budget
I'm in the process of lookiing for a new laptop .
I can see that the latest version support Intel i7 gen 10 with enhanced encorder support

If I browse the next and try to compare the latest Intel CPU's it seems that having more cores if betther that using latest 10th generation if CPU

Core I7 -1068G7 (Icelake 4 Cores/8 Threads 64 graphics execution units)

Core i7 10710U (Corenet Lake 6 Cores/12 theads 24 Graphics execution units)

What is optimal for CyberLink ?
I have a Qestion regarding SVRT.
I have produced 14 clips, that I want to set together.
They are in a MP4 format in a .m2ts container.

When I put them on the timeline, the SVRT track show that I will reduce my rendering with 98,89%. The only changes made to the clips on the timeline is a transition between them.
in the render section the profile analyser shows, the source to have 101.11% with the format of H264

When I start the rendering process it takes ~30 min. for this 30min long video ?

Why does it take that long time, when there is virtually no rendering needed ?

my version is Ultimate version 17.0.3005.0
Quote I see the same problem again on another project. PD17 freeze at Project 80%.
Guess, It wil go through after sometme, as mentioned above before

Is this insufficient memory problem?
My memory is 16GB.

There are many large mts files in Update Timelime upload.

I seems to have the same problem, however I think that I'we found the solution: It is disk bottleneck
My disk where all the footage are store are a large 4TB slow USB disk, the windows performance taskmanager showes 100% utilized disk. When I move the clips to a SSD all the problems with opening a large project dissaperes
Hi Forum

When I have photos take by mobile, I would like to have the pricure blured and scaled masked as background to fill the black
I cannot find any simple way, other that make it myself, but when I'm finished, I would like to save the keyframe attribues for next time. I can copy and past them in the same project, but can I save them for use later ?
you are right :

I was writing and reading from the same slow SATA external USB3 drive.
By moving the data to one SSD and writing to another SSD speeded the whole process a lot...
Hovewer, I still dont understand why the machines need to process anything other than reading and writing if there is no change to the video.

One thing that I noticed: The SVRT analyze always select Dolby as the source for my audio. This is not my case, I'm using AAC, if I let that profile continue it takes L O N G time to render, but I have to change the profile to ACC and then let SVRT analyzer run again in order to select SVRT, the second time audio it set to AAC
I have PD16 and I'm processing 4K video (AVC format MP4)

place the video in the time line, and doing nothing else...
go to produce, analyze with SVRT , with result the same result as the one from MediAnalyze saying 100% reduction saving

enable that profile and render(produce)

The produce screen shift to SVRT but the rendertime are pretty slow, say minutes depending of the lenght of the footage

If I deselect "fast rendering te...) the render time is much longer, so the SVRT seems to work...

Why does a 100% time reduction time still takes minutes ???

My hardware is Xeon E3 3.4Ghz, GPU Nvidia Quatro600
thanks
But... strangly enough, if I try to take a unmodified 4K clip (19sec long) , place it on the timeline.
Analyze with SVRT, that says (media type MPEG4, resolution 3840x2160, frame 25, bitrate 94452, workload save 100%)
it still take 45 sec to render ? (Render says using SVRT5)

Is this normal ?
I'm using a 4K camera, and after 4 weeks of vacation I have a tons video/photo clips
MY PC is a workstation with Xeon processor and not a fancy CUDA card and this machine is not speddy to render 4K video.
It take app. the same time to render as to play the clips (4min footage take 4 min to render) without any edits

What would be the best workflow for making a whole vacation movie ?

1) place all the clips on the timeline, edit them , add transition and music and then wait one night for the system to render

or

2) would it be possible to render lets say one final segment pr. day and the later combine them to one

I cannot figure out the best way.

The first, will probably make the best result, but I have to re-do everthing before all the iterations for a final film are done
The second need to make one final render, but for already rendered clips`?

Im using MP4 4K profiles, and need H265 in order to get lower bandwidth in final video, due to my NAS cannot supply enought speed to play the clips. My camera product 100MB/s and I nee to down to 50MB/s, for that to work. If I select H264 profile, and change the render down to 50Mb/s it takes forever to render.

Any suggestions ?

thanks
Thanks for the suggested method for solving the issue with missing "taken date" in videos
However; I uses a program that read my Sd card and place the files both video and photos in separate folder named by the date.
This is how I organize all my clips. I can the use that program to show files, both video and photos in a calandar view, which is very nice way to organize them.
(it's actually Play Memory Home by Sony - knowing that there a lot more sophiticated program - but Sony PMH does the job quite well)
If I mark all the clips needed, beeing either video or Photo or both and drag them to PD, PD does sort the files, and hence make wrong sequences. If I do the same with ie. Magix the files stays in that order Sony PMH organized them.
Would it be possible to have a "do not sort" option, just place the media in the order it's dragged ?

This is a BIG issue for me.

BIG !!!!

I deal with sometime several 100 clips and fotages.

Dear Cyberlink: Please implement this feature.............
is it possible to have PD16 to sort the clips in the media pool by "date taken", if you are dealing with a huge number of clips from different cameras with different namin it is very hard to get the the clips in time order....

Other editor can do this ???

Thanks
this does help. Lowering the Video Quality only results in bad video quality in the preview window as expected.
The overall responsivnes of the PD15 is really slow when I have 30 min of HD material loaded on the timeline. (app. 50 clips)
If I lower the amount of clips to system start to respond better. The rendering time seem to be as expected.

The green icons are all showing the proxy files are generated.

When I change from edit to produce it takes app. 30-40 seconds before the actual changes happens.

To me it seems that PD are running very on on resources, but my system works perfect during this slow response in PD.

Other NLE video editors are running with HD preview without any problems
I'm using PD15 on my workstation with E3 Xeon and 16Gb RAM. I dont have a fast Garphics accelerator but there is a CUDA proc. on the graphics board

When I have app. 50 (AVC and MP4 ) HD clips in the timeline the edit mode (scroll and move) are very slow, and lacking behind.

This is extremly annoying.
I have tried to use proxy files, but that does not help.

The display setting are set to HD and realtime

I also have magix MEP and Sony Vegas on my machine, theese programs are much "snappier" and there are no lacking at all in edit mode with the same clips/fotages

Any good ideas ?
I really would like to use this time/date feature. BTW: I also have and uses Sony Vegas Pro, and this editor can (could) also use time code with a use of a macro. This macros is unfortunately not updated by the user anymore and hence the latest version of VegasPro stop working with time/date.

Can you point me to the solution with the .srt subtitle method ?
