Do y'all use any aids to help plan your video? Such as a word processor, a spreadsheet, something like Celtx?

For example, you are going on a trip to the shore, do you plan ahead of time what you will film? Loading the car, driving 3 hours along the highway, the beach, the pier, etc.

And how about stills?

When I first got my camcorder I tried just shooting everything in sight and then attempted to make a decent video in the edit. I now have tons of Grand Canyon clips and stills and have no idea what they show. There must be a better way.
Quote: Is Google Chrome evil or something?

No, Tom, it is not evil. Many people assert that it is a very good browser. What I am objecting to is Chrome, or the Asktoolbar, or any other software being thrust upon me if I forget to uncheck two boxes on a download page.

I use IE as a browser as I am trying to not install a lot of software. I have found in the past that many products leave the registry in a mess and thus affect the speed of the computer. (I may breakdown and go back to Firefox)

I use duckduckgo for searches as I am not comfortable with the way Google tailors search results based on what I have searched for in the past.
Actually, Dafydd, it was some other update where I failed to uncheck the boxes that caused the hyperlink issue. By the time I got to do the PD11 update I had grown older and wiser and remembered to uncheck them. But it was Google Chrome that was the culprit.
When installing an update CyberLink adds a download for Google Chrome and pre-checks the boxes to install it and make it the default browser.

All fine and dandy. Now, if I want Google Chrome I will get it and install it myself. I don't (let's not debate this now).

Here is the issue. when I uninstalled Chrome I forgot to make IE my default browser first. Subsequently none of the hyperlinks in Word and Excel worked. It took a while to find the solution, namely, re-install Chrome, make it the default browser, then make IE (or another browser) the default and finally remove Chrome. This fixed the hyperlink problem.

You're welcome.
I'm sorry, I read the title of the thread and thought, "Washington, D.C."

Seriously, a great link, Barry.

Cheers, mate. I was looking under "Products", not "Store"
Quote: What version level are you trying to upgrade from/to

No to be honest, you should not use the upgrade to "buy' a version for your second computer.

Stevek, my signature line gives the current PD10 version.
Where can I buy the upgrade and is it cheaper than buying a brand new full version of PD11?
Looking through the sales pages for PowerDirector11 I did not see any upgrade path from PD10. I.e. no discount in the price for an upgrade. I image that means I am paying full price for the software as if I was a new customer.

Can I therefore uninstall PD!0 and re-install it on a second computer?
Thanks, Carl, for both replies.
Is there a way of blurring faces, as they do on the television?
Is it possible to make a split screen image with this software? By that I mean the field of view is divided in two horizontally. The top half is one clip, the bottom half is another.
Thank you, Playsound. Going forward I can create a new template using Modify and Save As. This will pass from one project to another. I can call it something meaningful, e.g. StandardIntroTitle1 and use it in future projects. I did not want to rename one as I might have used it in an older project.

I will have to study older projects to try to identify which title effect I used. Maybe keep notes in a .TXT file in the project folder.
When I go back in and edit a video I would like a way to identify which title effect I used before so that I can use it again. I can find no label for an effect in the timeline. It is a nuisance having to cycle through all of the effects until I recognize the one I used before. I do not want my titles to look like a ransom note with many different effects and fonts.

The pop up window for a title only gives the text, start time, end time, and duration.

The pop up for the background does give the .JPG that is used and the transition.

Thanks for any help.

Tim
I am using Wave Editor to, well, edit the file: trim dead space at the beginning and end, add effects, etc.. The original attributes: Title, Artist, Album, Genre and so forth, do still hold as it is the same piece.
When I import an MP3 file into the Wave Editor and subsequently save it, all of the metadata, e.g. Track number, title, artist, are blank.

I am using PD 10 and whatever wave editor came with it. Does the latest-and-greatest- version (the free download on the Cyberlink main web site) do the same or will it retain this information?
Did you click on ? then Power Director Help then Search then type opacity in the search argument box?

Did that answer your question?
I re-opened a video I began months ago and wanted to add another title to match the one I had inserted before. How can I tell which title/effect I used? (Short of clicking through all of them in a hit-or-miss fashion). The 'Properties' associated with a title in the time line just gives duration, start/stop, and text. Same for transitions.
Thanks Carl. I 'll try that. So the Comments and Titles fields are purely internal to PD and not part of the Windows metadata.
In PD 10, under File/Project Properties there are two fields: Title and Comments. I can enter stuff in them and save the .PDS. However, these entries do not show up in Windows Explorer under Comments and Titles. Are they not a part of the file metadata? How can I make them display in WE? (I have Windows 7).

I'd like to identify the various versions as, e.g. Take 1, Take 2, when I look at the Windows Explorer folder.
I selected 'No Menu', and 'Apply To All Pages'. The 'Preview' works OK. But when I click 'Burn in 2D' I get the same message as the OP.
Do you plan your videos in advance? I.e. create a storyboard before you ever go and pick up the camera?

I confess that as a newbie, I shoot everything that moves and then try to turn it into something on the computer. Not a good idea.
