PD11 and PD12 driver problems.
I have a problem with the latest up dated NIVIDIA drivers 9.18.13.4052 and 3788.
When in the PARTICLE ROOM and you click on say the RAIN window, there is a flick on the screen, it then crashes reporting a problem with the driver, this happens in PD11 and PD12.
Both have been reinstalled but still the same problem.
After experimenting I have found a solution until NVIDIA driver is corrected.
I have found driver 4052 and 3788 has this problem but 3523 and 1106 are ok.
What I have found is if you can’t do a ROLLBACK you can if you do the following.
Click on uninstall driver, it will show a check box to delete software, click on this.
Reboot after uninstall, WIN will install a previous driver version, after reboot check driver version or check programme effected.
If no good repeat the previous step deleting software, after REBOOT check problem software.
I had to do this twice and got driver 1106 for PD11 WIN VISTA and 3523 for WIN 7 64 BIT.
Cyberlink Powerdirecter 11 and 12 now works ok.
Unless you know better way??

Markers can help locate where you wanted to be.
We need a "lock to ..." or similar ability to solve both issues.
Markers is what I am resorted to using too, but it's not a one click procedure either.

You are correct, you can place time line markers, which helps, but if you do some alterations to the clips, the markers end up in the wrong place! some sort of locking to the clip position is required as found in other software.
I have just tested Nina's thread and found it works just fine.

Big thanks to Tony of PDtoots.

I have further tested this fix on my WN7 LAPTOP and found adverts are gone but the window at the bottom still pops up with rubbish!

I get the same as shown in TOM's photo, so I have now removed the fix.
If we get enough people with the same problem reporting on here, we then could show this is a problem for all.

So come on voice your thoughts on here!!
I also find this a problem!! I swear every time it happens.

Other software tends to stay where you were.

Come on Cyberlink make it stay at the point of editing.

I know you can select clip or movie but it does not stay at the point of editing!!!!!
Hi Dafydd

I found this problem was only on my Tower computer VISTA but not on my Laptop WIN 7.

I done further testing on my Tower computer and It was all due to permissions.

What I found was, if I used PSHOP 7 It would save the file in BACKGROUND folder but it could not be seen by EXPLORER or PD11.

If I created the picture in PSHOP ELE 10 it would not allow me to save it to folder until I sorted the PERMISSIONS for this folder.

I Corrected this and it would save and be seen by PD11.

So thanks for confirming that it does work ok.
1.. Import a Picture from PD background folder, to use as a Template, into PSHOP or GIMP.

2.. Select all and clear Picture, now you have a TEMPLATE to use.

3.. Import a picture into PSHOP or GIMP and then copy it.

4.. Paste your picture onto the TEMPLATE and then resize the picture to fit TEMPLATE.

5..Now rename template as a .jpg file and save it to the DESK TOP.

6..Open the PD background folder and then drag the picture from the DESK TOP into the folder.

I found that it can’t be saved directly to PD BACKGROUND folder; it will not be shown in PD if you do!

7.. Now run PD and open MEDIA ROOM then BACKGROUNDS, you should now see your new background picture displayed.

I found this is the only way to achieve this, unless anybody knows how you can??
Carl.

Just tried that and it works!

Not too much problem to change the chapters to projects!

Thanks allot

Richard.
Carl.

I think what you sate is :-

Import say four separate projects ( which were chapters)

and link them via the root menu.

Is that correct??

I will try this to see if that works.
Tony.

Yes I selected as you shown, does not work!

Carl.

Not sure what you are stating?
Titles/Projects??
How do you use it then in these modes??
Hi

I am creating a video with a number of chapters, nothing difficult there!

My problem is when I come to create the disc.

I select it to return after each chapter, but find it does not do this; it just carries on to the next chapter.
Why does this not work??
To help others who have this problem.

As there is no mention of how to do this in the manual, that comes with PD.

As Tony states, if you go to :-

C:\Program Files (x86)\CyberLink\PowerDirector11\MenuDesigner\Runtime\MenuMaterial\Frame
or
C:\ProgramFiles\CyberLink\PowerDirector11\MenuDesigner\Runtime\MenuMaterial\Frame

Depending whether you are running 32 or 64 bit system.

Then copy one of the 16x9 frames into say PHOTOSHOP or (GIMP 2 which is free), then set some guide lines around the frame, (not the canvas), remove the picture of the frame, save it .

You have now got a template to use to create your imported frames very quickly, and you get it right ever time you import the frame into PD.

Now drop in your new frame into the TEMPLATE, adjust it to fit the TEMPLATE, remove the centre of the frame and the save it as a .PNG file. Now import your new FRAME into PD, job done.

To create the Mask, do the same as for the frame, fill in the centre of the frame with a colour, remove the frame, you have now the Mask, save it as a .PNG file and again import it into PD MASK section, job done.

Hope you find that useful.

Richard
Thanks Tony.

That was the answer!

When I read your reply I could see that I was making the Canvas the same size as the frame.
As you stated the Canvas has to be a square as you showed.

I spent five hours last night trying to make it work, so easy when you know.

Thanks allot!

Richard.
Thanks James for that.

I did wonder about the size of memory and 32-64 bit may be the problem.

I am running Window VISTA 32BIT.
So I may have to upgrade to 64bit.

I came from PINNACLE 15 about a year ago, in that I never had a problem with that programme being slow or creating MENU FRAMES! with the same Computer.
YNOTFISH.

IT's not a background picture but a CHAPTER FRAME and MASK, it's the FRAME Iam having problems with.

I first created a .PNG picture frame in PHOTOSHOP of more than 510x510 pixels, PD informed it must not exceed 510x510 pixels, then tried all size below 500x300 pixels, but it always came back as square in PD. The only change was the definition of the frame, the lower the pixels the poorer the frame was.
I have attempted this, but the frame always comes out square and not rectangular in shape???? ****
2..Another problem I have found, the editing Menu software is very slow to respond to changes, to either loading or saving, do other people find this or is it my computer?

I have a 2.8g quad core 4g mem computer.

It would be useful to know how to set up the computer for the best working for Power Director 11.

Any tips on this would be useful.

****PLEASE SEE MY INSTRUCTIONS AT THE BOTTOM OF HOW TO DO THIS.
