Quote Nothing like will happen with PD unless you manually place a title with the name of the clip in your video. I'm guessing here, but are you viewing the produced video in the VLC player?

If so, go to Tools, Preferences and deselect these two checkboxes:

Spot on! Yes I am using the player. I will give this solution a go later. Thanks for the reply its appreciated.
Should be a dead easy one for you guys to answer.

I save my produced video as say "video one" when I play the film back right at the start it says in the produced MP4 "Video one.MP4" on the produced MP4 itself.

Been through all the settings I cannot see how to get rid of this/stop it happing in the first place?

I bet its something obvious.

Thanks in advance
Lets hope your right. I have never had a version of Powerdirector work as it should right from the start.
Quote Since you purchased a full version this time and not an upgrade version then you can keep the older versions. You can uninstall the older versions if you want. There are no Cylberlink cleaner tool for PD16 available that I know of.

I can keep the older versions? PD16 automatically uninstalled PD15, PD14, PD10. That was the point I was making. PD16 UNINSTALLED previous versions including PD15 so I could not keep it even if I wanted to. After it uninstalled them it then tells me, albe it in a roundabout way, that it needs a previous version installed.
That is worrying. With mine the cyberlink program update program looked at my current setup and vertually said you already have a registered working version of PD15 you only need the upgrade, but I would have bought the full version. As I said before I used PD15 with no registration or verification problems at all. When PD16 installed the program removed my others then said the program I paid for needed the previous programs. What is the point in removing something it needs??

I feel I need a cleaning tool for the other versions so there is no confusions. Anyone know where I can find it? For PD15 and PD16?
Yes certainly have. Also bought it through Amazon. Their brand new boxed full version is only £8 more than the upgrade version direct from Cyberlink. Plus I will have an actual disc. Of course this time I make sure I keep the box!

What seemed the most daft bit about the whole episode is the fact that the "upgrade" software automatically removed previous versions of itself then said I need that software?? The bonus is, hopefully, is that I now have regained the space the previous versions took up. I am just hoping I have not lost my collections of Magic Music etc. Not 100% but think they and the other bits are stored seperately from the rest of the PD.

We will see!
Update.

Well I finally gave in. Asked them for a refund. To give them their due I have had a email from Paypal to say they are doing it.

I have not given up on PD16 though. Just ordered a disc PD16 Ultra from Amazon. Lets hope that this time I will be able to load and use the software. Typing fingers crossed!

So thanks for your help and feed back! Appreciated.
It gets better. I decided to try a complete uninstall. Ran a couple of software uninstallers. Then ran the PD cleaning tool for the earlier versions. So there was no previous versions to impeed the new PD16. Turned computer on and then on. Went to re-install PD16.

Now it says it is the software to upgrade earlier versions, just like the ones I have just taken the time and trouble to completely delete. Asks for previous product numbers. Guess what. Now it does not accept the one I have. Talk about frustrating and annoying. So now I do not even have 30 days to try it out. No previous versions. This is ........... (please fill in appropriate comment)
Thanks for the link but I already have that on my computer. Just wondering if I should try the PD Uninstaller that lurks somewhere on this site. My problem is I spent ages downloading extras etc. Would like to avoid that if I could.

Support is not very good is it. Not heard anything yet.
Quote Hi,

Can you post the exact version of PD you are installing and also the screen shots that you get about activation and days left etc.?

Normally, that type of message appears when you have a trial version.

Cheers

Here you go

This is not a trial version. Bought, paidfor etc via Paypal. Just annoying that I have to go through all this.

Also I should mentioin that I DO have internet connection, how else could I post this etc? I have checked the firewall its in the "allowed" connections section and certainly not in the blocked connection settings.

Quote ... I notice I still have PD15 on my computer should I uninstall that? Would it do any harm if I did? ...

you don't have to uninstall previous versions. most of the time they coexicst peacefully.

Quote ... I have submitted a support request but not heard anything ...

what i'd do is uninstall PD16 and reinstall PD15 and other versions until you hear from the CL support. if you don't hear from them, then Where can I find the refund policy for the download version?

in any business money talks!

'garbage in garbage out'

Thanks for all that. Very useful. In the end I did not have to uninstall V15. I uninstalled then re-installed PD16. Each time I did the software uninstalled a previous version of itself. So one by one it removed, PD10, PD14,PD15. After the last uninstall it asked me for PD15's code. Which thankfully I appeared to have. I just found a number I had put on notepad and tried it. I do not know what I have done with the original box. It still will not let me 'activate' and the days are counting down.

Will give it a week then ask for a refund. Would have been easier to buy the disc off Ebay.

Thanks again for your help. Most grateful.

Quote I had PD15 and it was working well. Just fancied a few of the extra options in PD16 so went online paid my fee. Downloaded the program installed. Put in my Key. Ran the program. Registered it when requested. Had a play no problems at all.

Then I restarted the program. Got a message saying I should register. So I clicked register. It then told me I could not do that due to not being able to connect with data or something. But when the program opened I clicked top right. Went and registered. No problems.

However when I shut down and open up the PD16 I again get the message I need to register and there is only 30 days left to do it.

Help?

Update.

So I uninstalled then re-installed. I noticed that each time I re-install the program it removes an earlier version of itself. I.e. Version 10, then 14, then 15. Now on my latest - uninstall-restart computer-reinstall pd16-restart computer-restart pd16 it asks me for the key for the previous version. After a bit of digging I found what I think was the original key. It accepts it. Continues with install. Asks ofr PD16 key. I put it in. PD16 Works fine................ until I restart it. Then it tells me I need to activate but then tells me it cannot connect.

Fun this isnt it?

Quote The essential question of this thread has been transferred from the PDR15 forum: http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/46020.page#post_box_287938 posted by Frankc1.

PhD8 can import the video formats shown in this table. Note that the Mac version has some limitations in this.

Frank,

As suggested by Robert (The Shadowman) in the other thread, could you please indicate the details of videos that are failing to import & bringing up the "H.264" alert? From which camera(s) are the source footage?

Using the Windows version of PhD8, I haven't had any issues importing H.264 encoded videos.

PIX

Problem. Photodirector 8. Tried to import a video. It stopped because it would not accept a H.264 Video.

My question. Would it work if I imported the rejected video into Powerdirector and then out put it in another format?

Solution. Yes it will work. I put the video into PD15 output it as a .WMV file. Then imported that .WMV file into Photodirector 8.

Footnote. I do not know if any other output format would work, but I suspect it will.

I hope this information will help other having a similar problem. laughing

Keep up the good work guys.

Quote Frankc1 – Don’t hijack someone’s else post. You need to tell us why you think Photodirector which is an image or photo editing software should be able to import video clips like Powerdirector in a new topic post.

hijack? The person who answered this posting obviously knows what he is talking about. What is the first thing you do when you have a question? You do a search for an answer. Doing that I found this topic. He is having the same problem as myself. Be it in PD15 or Photoeditor.

As for why? I will try and explain a little clearer for you as you obviously have taken umbridge.

In Photodirector 8 they have a new facility for importing videos in to the photoediting program.

When they are in there you can extract photographs. Manipulate those photos etc.

First off though you have to import the video. Mine, like this gentleman, cannot import videos. Why? because the Photodirector will not accept this particular format we are both having problems with.

So if this format does not work I wondered if I imported the video into Powerdirector then outputted the same video in another format would that format work in Photodirector 8? With all the formats available it would be handy to know which video format would work. Hence the reasoning for the question.

ohh and I do not need to anything. It would be better but need? Its like being back at school.
I am, sort of, having the same problem. Except its with Photodirector 8. H.264 is not supported............... etc It says this no matter which format of video I try to import.

I can open these files no problem in Powerdirector so I was thinking of opening them. Then saving again in the correct format for Photodirector 8. Which format would that be though?

Thanks!
Quote I get it now. Takes me a while sometimes embarassed

Here, I have extra (separately purchased) NB Titler templates installed too. I can't recall exactly what I did when I installed PDR15... bit I think I just re-installed the templates from the original installers.

Worth a shot.

Cheers - Tony

I tried that. Found the original installers and the serials etc. My problem lies when it comes up with its installing point. I can click browse to install them anywhere I like, and I have tried quite a few places, but no matter where I put the files they still do not show in PD15.

I can live without them. Think I will give up on them for now.

Thanks anyways! laughing
Thanks for the replies guys.

Dont quite know how to put this. You buy PD14. Like the Newblue Titler so you buy more of their effects and install them in PD14. They work a treat.

You now buy PD15 with some Newblue effects in but the ones you bought for PD14 dont show in PD15.

I can find the files in PD14. So where do I put them in PD15 so I can use them.

The theory is that PD15 automaticaly finds the files from PD14 but it does not.

Quote I have recently upgraded to Power Director 15 Ultimate from PD14. I noticed that the Newblue titlers from PD14 are not shown in my PD15. I have extra Titles in PD14, not just the standard ones.

Is there someway I can still uses the titles from PD14? Do I have to move any files from one to the other? If so where are they stored in both versions?

Thanks!

Have a look at c:\Users\\Documents\CyberLink\Powerdirector\

In my case there are 14.0 and 15.0 directories. My old titles are in the 14.0 dir but PD15 found them there anyway without moving anything manually.

Thank you for the reply. In both my 14 & 15 directories, under the addrss above, there is no mention of Newblue files in either.

Found both directories but no sign of newblue files.
