Hi,

I just update PD from 10 to 14 Deluxe, expecting to be able to edit some last video. I'm trying to import a video MOV 2880*1800, 57 tr/s and I'm getting the following message : "Your PowerDirector version is not supporting this feature". Please by the latest version.

I tried to have the file transcoded to AVI same size, it's the same. Only when I get to 1920*1080 it is working.

So it is normal ?

Is it normal that this version is not managing such format ?

What can I do to have the maximum resolution as input ?

Thanks for your kind help in advance.

What is the format of the video you are trying to import?

Comparsion chart http://www.cyberlink.com/products/powerdirector-deluxe/compare_en_US.html

The Deluxe version can not work with H.265 videos, H.264 YES.

You should be sure your have the latest Quicktime player installed. Quicktime is necessary for MOV files.

Hi JulienF -

According to the *version comparison table* PDR14 Deluxe does not support "4K import/export", but it does support 2K - 2048x1080. There are other limitations of the deluxe version that may be at play here.

What's the source of your MOV file? 2880x1800? I've seen that resolution in 16:10 displays/monitors - is it a screen capture video?

Cheers - Tony

Ynotfish & Carl 312,

Thanks for both of your answers. It's indeed this version limitation, I should have checked this more in details before ordering. Now I do hope there is an upgrade path.

The MOV source file is indeed a screen capture. If 2048x1080 is possible, I'll transcode to that short term then.

Is it H.265 videos or H.264; I cannot see that from the windows fle property. How to find this info ?

Indeed, quicktime is installed.

Julien

Hi Julien -

It would almost certainly be H.264, but the easiest way is to use MediaInfo to report the video properties.

You can download it here - https://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo - just make sure you uncheck or decline any extras during installation.

Another thing to consider is that your original screen capture MOV is 16:10, but the 2K production profiles in PDR are 16:9

Cheers - Tony

OK thanks. Good input for next time. The customer support indicated there is not upgrade possible, I'll try to get refounded and to buy the Ultra version next for future edits.

Thanks to all.

I am, sort of, having the same problem. Except its with Photodirector 8. H.264 is not supported............... etc It says this no matter which format of video I try to import.

I can open these files no problem in Powerdirector so I was thinking of opening them. Then saving again in the correct format for Photodirector 8. Which format would that be though?

Thanks!

This thread is 2 years old. You would be much better off starting a new thread. When you start that new thread, say what formats are not being imported. Panny TM10, GH2, GH4,

Frankc1 – Don’t hijack someone’s else post. You need to tell us why you think Photodirector which is an image or photo editing software should be able to import video clips like Powerdirector in a new topic post.

hijack? The person who answered this posting obviously knows what he is talking about. What is the first thing you do when you have a question? You do a search for an answer. Doing that I found this topic. He is having the same problem as myself. Be it in PD15 or Photoeditor.

As for why? I will try and explain a little clearer for you as you obviously have taken umbridge.

In Photodirector 8 they have a new facility for importing videos in to the photoediting program.

When they are in there you can extract photographs. Manipulate those photos etc.

First off though you have to import the video. Mine, like this gentleman, cannot import videos. Why? because the Photodirector will not accept this particular format we are both having problems with.

So if this format does not work I wondered if I imported the video into Powerdirector then outputted the same video in another format would that format work in Photodirector 8? With all the formats available it would be handy to know which video format would work. Hence the reasoning for the question.

ohh and I do not need to anything. It would be better but need? Its like being back at school.

Gentlemen,

Perhaps, as suggested, a fresh start would be best laughing

I have opened a new thread in the PhotoDirector forum where Frank's question can be discussed: http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/0/63201.page

Since the OP's total forum posts can be found on this page, it's doubtful he'd be offended by the thread being locked.
