Quote pemongillo, PD11 does not support HEVC video, it will import as audio only file and black video. The audio will typically play fine. If you have the iphone set to record HEVC "High Efficiency" video, you might try the "Most Compatible" setting on your iphone which will create a H.264 video instead which is PD11 compatible.

For the HEVC video, if that's what you have, you will need to convert for PD11 to handle properly. HandBrake or many other free utilities are available for that route.

Jeff

Thanks Jeff
Quote Those clips almost certainly use Apple's QuickTime codec, and that sometimes cause issues with PD since Apple no longer supports QuickTime on Windows platforms. The first thing I'd try is to download and install QTLite, then try your importing your clips again.

When you produce them, use any MP4 format and your iPhone should have no trouble playing them.

Thanks. Unfortunately none of this works. Still can open an iphone file in PD 11. It will play sound and video until I drag it into the time line. As soon as I click play in the time line, the video disappears and there is only sound. I tried downloading all three versions of QT lite. Any other ideas ? SHould I be deleting Quick time ? Thanks
OK, whats the secret word for opening videos taken with my iphone SE? I seem to be able to open them, but only have audio . Also when I get this figured out, can I reinstal the finished video back onto the phone?

Thanks
Had to re-install Windows 7 on My desktop. By doing so I need to re-install all of my software. I purchased the PD 9 disc years ago, but when I upgraded to PD 11 a couple of years ago I opted for the downloaded version...might not even have been a disc available...not sure. Could somone please direct me to where I can re-download PD 11. I have the key. Not really interested in upgrading at this time to a new version of PD.

Thanks
Thanks Carl. I don't want to mess with the TV settings....everything is good. I think I am just going to move on. Too much trouble. Maybe I will re-upload them all to YouTube using PD11 as I find the time. Thanks for your help.
This is a real puzzler. OK, I added the tag as you said and it changed every problem video to the correct aspect ratio on a computer screen. HOWEVER, if I watch it on my Roko powered TV, the same videos that I repaired with the tag are still squished and the wrong aspect ratio. No way to fix it for everything other than to delete the videos from YouTube and upload them again with a more recent version of PD than PD9.
Never mind Carl. I didn't think I could put that kind of "tag" into YouTube, but I just tried it and it worked. Thanks. Saved me lots of time uploading all videos again.
Carl, I see no place in my YouTube account where I can add the tag you suggested. I know I can do it in PD, but that kind of defeats the whole purpose. I still have to upload all 12 videos over again. If I have to do that I will just do it in PD11. Am I missing something here?

Thanks
Thanks, I will try the tags. I did take a couple of edits and loaded them into PD11 and those uploaded to YouTube fine, but if I tried re-uploading the ones in my files from PD9 they were squished. Interesting.
I just looked at 12 videos I published before 2013 on Youtube. The aspect ration has changed on them all and they have been squished from top to bottom. I tried uploading again and the same thing happened. These were all done with PD9. This has not happened with up loads with PD11. Can I fix these? Whats Up?

Thanks
As recently as six months ago I was getting good uploads by saving my project as MP-4 HD1080 or H264 and then uploading those independant of PD 11. Now that gives me crap. Whats the latest technique to get a great upload to Youtube?

Thanks
I thought these problems would go away when I upgraded from PD9 to PD 11...silly me. Is there some magic secret to editing video (sharpening, saturation, white balance, lighting, transitions) that does not cause your video to become jerky and get out of sync with the sound. This makes PD almost worthless for my needs ! Any suggestions to allow me to use the tools that come with PD11 without all the problems it creates ?
Thanks Carl
That makes more sense. The confusion for me probably arose because the dragged MP4 DVD plays in my Sony DVD player attached to my TV. What PD11 is doing when I choose the DVD setting rather than Blue Ray is configuring the DVD to play on any DVD player, mine happens to play blue ray so the MP4 file dragged to the same type of DVD looks much better. I wonder what PD11 will do if I ask it to burn a Blue Ray DVD, but on a non-blue ray disc. I'll give that a try for fun. Thanks all.

Still doesn't explain the absolute crap I get for videos uploaded to YouTube directly from PD11.
What doesn't make any sense is that I am burning the same type of DVD two different ways. One directly from PD11 using a PDS file. And the other I simply drag the MP4 file I produced in PD11 to the DVD burner. The one I produced as MP4 dragged to the DVD burner independent of PD11 is way higher quality. That just doesn't make sense. I don't know how much clearer to make it and perhaps I just don't have the knowledge to understand what is being explained to me. Thanks
Carl that doesn't make any sense....I don't think. When I burn from PD 11 to a DVD (you are correct in assuming the type of DVD I am using), the video quality is poor. However, if I produce the file and save as an MP4 1080 on my hard drive and then drag that file to the same kind of DVD (independent of PD 11), the video quality is excellent. This tells me something "bad " is happening in PD 11. Other ideas? Thanks
I am puzzled. Recently upgraded to PD 11. If I burn a DVD I only have the option of burning at MP2 !? Lousy DVD quality results. If I produce the HD file to a folder as an MP4 HD video and drag it to a DVD independent of PD 11 the quality is perfect. Also some serious degradation when uploading to YouTube . Video is 1080 30 fps. What's going on?

Thanks
Bummer. Thanks
How do I fix it so any video file will open in PD 11 instead of Windows media Player? I have Windows 7 64 bit. Usually you just right click the file and select "open in", but open is not present. Thanks
I just upgraded to PD 11 because all of my new GoPro files could not be handled by PD9. However, I have extremely limited ability to set frame rates for editing in PD11. Is there some way to manually set the frame rate to match my camera settings. Even if I set my frame rate at 50 in the camera it reads in the properties as 49.9 (close, but not 50). So I get a warning saying my video quality may be degraded if they don't match. Ideas, suggestions?

Thanks
