What Happened to my Aspect Ratio on YouTube

I just looked at 12 videos I published before 2013 on Youtube. The aspect ration has changed on them all and they have been squished from top to bottom. I tried uploading again and the same thing happened. These were all done with PD9. This has not happened with up loads with PD11. Can I fix these? Whats Up?

Thanks

Have you asked YouTube yet? It is probably something that changed on their site. None of my videos have changed ; even the old ones. Did you double check the setting for watching the videos?

Squished from top to bottom seems like they are 16 by 9 (high definition). .

Youtube has made changes in their Player.

To fix the aspect ratio problem, you need to add a Tag to your video in the Video Manager in your Youtube account.

The tags are:
"yt:stretch=4:3"

"yt:stretch=16:9"

You must include the quotes.

Thanks, I will try the tags. I did take a couple of edits and loaded them into PD11 and those uploaded to YouTube fine, but if I tried re-uploading the ones in my files from PD9 they were squished. Interesting.

Try the tag that fits the correct aspect ratio of your video, If it is a HD 16.9, use the 16:9 tag.

Carl, I see no place in my YouTube account where I can add the tag you suggested. I know I can do it in PD, but that kind of defeats the whole purpose. I still have to upload all 12 videos over again. If I have to do that I will just do it in PD11. Am I missing something here?

Thanks

Never mind Carl. I didn't think I could put that kind of "tag" into YouTube, but I just tried it and it worked. Thanks. Saved me lots of time uploading all videos again.

Glad it works.

It is a strange place to tell the Youtube player to display a 16:9 video.
I think of 'Tags' as search terms.

I had a few videos that got messed up with the Youtube player change.

This is a real puzzler. OK, I added the tag as you said and it changed every problem video to the correct aspect ratio on a computer screen. HOWEVER, if I watch it on my Roko powered TV, the same videos that I repaired with the tag are still squished and the wrong aspect ratio. No way to fix it for everything other than to delete the videos from YouTube and upload them again with a more recent version of PD than PD9.

What about setting in your TV set?

You should be able to use the TVs display settings to fix the picture.

It kind of makes sense that the tags don't do anything for your Roko. Those Tags are for the Youtube player. They do not change the actual video on Youtube.

If you have uploaded a new video using a later Powerdirector version, do you see the correct aspect ratio?

I suppose you have checked for the Latest Patch for your version of Powerdirector.

What about the display of other Youtube videos?

Thanks Carl. I don't want to mess with the TV settings....everything is good. I think I am just going to move on. Too much trouble. Maybe I will re-upload them all to YouTube using PD11 as I find the time. Thanks for your help.
