I produce motorcycle-related videos, quite often using VirbXE cameras with an external microphone. I get a severe amount of engine and road noise when narrating in my full-face helmet. I've tried using the tools available in PD 16 and Audio Director, but can't seem to isolate the unwanted noise and get to clear voice narration. Is anyone doing similar work and perhaps have editing tips? I could certainly provide a clip if someone wanted to play with it.
Am I the sole user that experiences hangs and lockups when using SmartSound clips in PowerDirector? I've commented and queried about this before and submitted tickets but apparently nobody has an answer. I'd love to hear of your editing experiences with SmartSound clips.
Quote Hi, please psote the dxdiag.exe as an attachment.

Do you have more than one video/audio program active? Sometimes thaey fight for control.

Is the Turtle Beach 16, 32 or other bit?

1) My Turtle Beach is a USB headset.

2) No other video editing software is open.

3) DXDIAG attached.
I have been experiencing sound problems:

1: Magic Music lockups and delays when a SmartSound track is inserted. The program will generally hang for up to a minute in some cases when attempting a playback or when selecting an associated video clip for editing. Just as soon as the timeline encounters that SmartSound clip, things hang.

2: I also experience delays when pressing the voice-over button on the left of the screen. I'll generally have to wait about 15-30 seconds for the voice-over room to become active so that I can record a voice track. Once it IS active, I don't have an issue.

I have a ticket created for the second issue, but I can't help but wonder if the problems are related. I have ALWAYS experienced the first issue since my very first PD version (PD7 I think). I am now using PD15 with the latest updates.

The support staff have been sent my DXDIAG and DMP files, but to date no suitable solution has been discovered. Does anyone else experience these issues?

Here are a few stats from the DXDIAG file:

Operating System: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit (10.0, Build 15063) (15063.rs2_release.170317-1834) Language: English (Regional Setting: English) System Manufacturer: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. Quote Cannot Upload from Power Director 15 to my YouTube Account

When I try to produce to YouTube, it asks for authorization which I attempt to do. However, even though I use my correct YouTube user name and password I get an error and no further processing is accomplished.
You should be using your Email address for user name. Youtube is owned by Google, all Google accounts use your Email Address.

Tried logging in outside PD and keeping that login active. It doesn't matter... does not work for me.

I loaded the latest version of PowerDirector15 and when I try to pick the Blu-Ray disc creation option I get a window that tells me my version doesn't support this action and is asking me to buy PD15... which I have already done and have the latest patches, etc.
I'm at build 2408 and have issues with clips being "black" in preview mode. Using "Modify" to an image or clip and resetting the opacity fixes the problem, but it's sure annoying.
I would like to know if there's a way to resize a group of selected images to match the TV safe zone. I don't believe this functionality exists. Choosing more than one photo in the timeline and then resizing them all in one step would would sure save a bunch of time. Having the ability inside PowerDirector to resize to a percentage of the original or percentage of the TV safe zone would be nice.
I loaded the beta patch as tech support suggested and deleted the cache registry entries as they also suggested. When I re-imported the offending files I had the same problem with the same images and videos. I gave up on importing those files and finished my video so that I could start another.

Keep in mind here that I started the aforementioned video in PD12, but then upgraded to PD13 mid-stream. It was then that I had the image and video problems.

I started a brand new session in PD13, loading other images and videos. Out of curiosity I decided to see if the previously offending video and image files would load normally into the new session ... et VOILA... they worked just fine.

So, the problem must have had something to do with starting in PD12 and trying to finish in PD13.
A good link for the patch secured, the patch did not work. I still can't manage some of the squashed images, black no-display (including images and video) with the new patch installed.

This problem seems to be related to the images and video captured with my Lg g2 smart phone. It's just odd.
Apparently there is a beta patch to correct problems encountered with some images. I was given a link to the beta patch that can't be found. I am hoping for a good link to that patch.
I agree... I hope there's a patch that will fix the issue. I am about 4 productions behind at the moment and wish I'd not installed PD13 before at least finishing the one I am currently working.

Is anyone experiencing a black display screen when inserting some of the offending image files? I have that issue with both .jpg files and .mp4 files.
I Have a few .3GP files that when renamed to .mp4 will play but the video is quite pixelated and choppy as well as the audio. They play nicely on my LG G2 which was the device used to capture the videos. Is there any fix for the start/stop, choppy video and audio?

Can someone tell me how I might create a map route/track highlight that moves/follows a map route? I've seen this in videos before, but don't know if it can be done in PowerDirector11.

Cheers...

Thanks Tony... Yes I performed the install operation, but unless there is content missing from the packages found at the links that Cyberlink sent, I must have done something wrong.

Now I'm feeling like I'm caught in the middle. I spent about 30 useless minutes on the phone trying to explain to the phone support person that there were obviously missing files and that the software load must not be correct. The upshot of that conversation was that the guy said he'd send an e-mail with a request for basically what amounts to information I've already sent. That was about an hour or more ago, and I've not received that request e-mail from him. I guess I know now to avoid paying money for services that don't live up to expectations. It seems in this case if they can't find a prescription in a help-line book somewhere that good old-fashioned sleuthing help just isn't possible. I can see that I'm missing files, and they could too if they'd only take a look.

Since I've installed an additional (advanced?) version of PD11 per the regular online help instructions, I wonder now about the sanity of uninstalling PD11 - Since I've saved my 150+ hour project a number of times with that newer version. If I reverted back to the online purchase PD11 upgrade and re-installed the software, I am leary that the project file would potentially never load.

I guess it's a waiting game now.
Tony, I wasn't indicating that the software was bunk, just perhaps the install.

So - the SmartSound issue is resolved now? What you described sounds very odd, because SS files from previous versions would have remained on your system.

Truly, the software isn't bunk. What Carl has suggested is correct. The missing files are the result of not having installed the 2 contents packs.

Forum members cannot access the link you posted, because it needs a user name & password. Perhaps you could go to the download location & take a screenshot.

Do you still have all your PiP objects, titles, menus etc from PD10?

Cheers - Tony
One question perhaps you might be able to answer (...and CB has not responded to me yet)

If you look in PD11 smart sound files, do you see the same number or more files within each music category as was present in PD10? I ask because as I mentioned, I went through each load link after purchase and what I wound up with was far less than before the PD11 load.
Dafydd, The following is an excerpt from the message I received from Cyblerlink. Originally, as I mentioned, I purchased the downloadable version of PD11 and downloaded all of the files succesively as listed in their download page. As also previously mentioned, the PD10 project I was having trouble with, still would not load. Upon further examination, I noticed that SmartSound clips while downloaded, had significantly reduced content in each category of music - MUCH less than I had previously with PD10. When attempting to load the project in PD11, the system was looking for missing files that were inserted in PD10, that now the software did not have.

After that, the following instructions were to load yet another version of software, granted to me by Cyberlink help, with a new CD key. I've blanked that CD key out for security reasons.

After not receiving a solution to the problem, I popped over to the SmartSound web site and filled out a help request. I received two quick responses. The first of which was to download the music content that came with PD8 through PD10. That helped, but other files contained in the "Core" disk were still missing, so the SmartSound folks gave me yet another link to download those files.

The content you now see on my Control Panel screen (sent in my previous response) is a result of all these file downloads.
