Quote imported music is temporarily stopped for less than .1 of a second between each video clip. I have silenced the sound from the video to zero sound. sometimes this works but when I go back to the same section, the same problem.
I haven't had this issue before so I am lost as to the solution.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
I also admit that I know enough that I know nothing!

Do you have "Fade in" or "Fade out" selected in the clip properties?

FYI - I live in Roseville

I looked in the help section and read what was available,. Doesn't seem that fade in fade out would help

Have you unchecked the audio track in track 1 rather than just lowering the level. Also you have two audio sections. You could have them both on the same track and cross fade to get a more even continuation.

By unchecking do yu mean muteing each track? I did do that but the interuptions are between each clip. I am going to reinvent the wheel by creating a new video with the same video clips but this time I will insert them in order rather than in between different clips.

Well, creating a new video didn't work either. I did a "save as" of the existing video to a new name. Then I moved the video from track 1 to a lower track. I then reinserted 5-6 of the same clips from the library to track 1 as a sample. Same result - the music very briefly breaks at each split between each clip. 3D has been removed. Thanks for that help.

If you have any other ideas I will gladly try them out. I am rettired so my schedule is very flexible.

Are you saying that music that you have imported onto a totally different track to your video is stopping whenever there is a break in the video in track one?

Would you be able to post a screenshot of your timeline showing the tracks in question, please

Yes that's right. I imported the music to 2 tracks below the video track. Screenshot was posted also

Did my info help? FYI - This video is to be presented to a JV Girl's Basketball team next Monday 3-5 so I hope to get this resolved before then. If any other info is needed please let me know. I will respond ASAP.

Does the file type of the song matter? 2 unaffected songs are MP3, 44KHZ, 256KPS bitrate. 2 affected songs are AAC,44 & 256.

Make sure you have latest patch. There are improvements to AAC encoding.

Downloaded 2820 & 3424. No change. I thought that maybe the file type might be the answer but I used another MP3 song and had many of the in between clips get interrupted. So that wasn,t the issue. What's interesting is that any given song anywhere in the video will and won't have this issue. So, any other ideas will be followed up till this Sunday then I would need to burn the videos for the girls.

From your clip in a previous post you appear to have 3D conversion checked in Power Tools. Do you mean to do that? Try it without it may have something to do with the audio issue. Not certain, but worth a try.

Thanks for the followup. That didn,t seem to work. I clicked on the 3D icon and Standard 2D Preview was checked, all other choices were unchecked. In Power Tools, see the attachments.
Also, could the way clips were added have an effect? As the end of the season was coming to a close, I inserted additional clips from those games to the final video. Each time, I made sure there was no space between them. Thanks again.

I'm just saying the vcr can be used as a digitizer.

.....And that's a useful idea as well! Cheers, Barry!

As I have told all the contributors, you have been very tolerant of my lack of knowledge. It is greatly appreciated. If our paths ever cross in in a bar / restaurant, I am buying you the beverage(s) of your choice.

Thanks

Brent

Hi, Brent!

Nice offer. I assume you're in the USA, I'm here in Australia, but if you ever visit Australia and find your way to the Port Stephens region, it would be good to meet a fellow forum member.

Cheers!

Neil.

I live just east of Sacramento, Ca which is 100 miles east of San Francisco. I have several friends who have visited areas of Australia and based on their comments, my wife and would very like to visit sometime. I would get in touch if that happens.

Quote Your Dxdiag.txt file does report any Firewire connection/card.

You need to connect that camera via a Firewire connection. You need a Firewire card for your computer and a cable to connect the camera.

only thing comes to my mind at this time is if your pc recognizes the sony cam then use Windows Movie Maker

to capture your videos. after capture put it into powerdirector of your choice and cook some delicioso...

p.s.

WinDV and VirtualDub will capture, too.

i think i'm hungry...

happy happy joy joy

Quote Hi Brent,

Sony had a habit of doing things their way.

So I-link was their implementation of firewire. I recall that the composite jack was also a non-standard but that will need checking.

The s-video was standard I think.

I use a cheap and cheerful usb dongle from ebay, cost half nothing, has composite and s-video inputs and works fine for me from both camcorder and vhs players (via composite or with scart adapter) capturing direct to PD15.

I know some folk have had trouble with them but I've had a couple and they worked fine - even with old rubbish vhs tapes and with commercially done film to vhs transfer tapes.

If all else fails it's worth a look at.

Cheers

Adrian

Thanks Adrian

Quote Brent - the cable wouldn't help if you don't have firewire port on your laptop. Your only choices would be Neil's - analog capture from the composite/audio output or As you stated - Costco.

If you take the tape to Costco, see if they will burn the AVI files to a data disc - NOT burn to video DVD. That way to have the raw AVI files directly from the camcorder.

Quote I'm laughing at myself for going on here...if he's got an old vcr with firewire in...then

The camera is connected to the firewire, aaaand the firewire is connected to the vcr, aaaand the vcr is connected to the RCA or s-video or whatever cable can fit both vcr and laptop, aaaaand that's the way it goes.

I'm just saying the vcr can be used as a digitizer.

Thanks Barry

You have been very tolerant of my lack of knowledge and it is appreciated. I promise, if our paths ever cross in a bar / restaurant I am buying you the beverage(s) of you favorite choosing.

Quote I think there are i-link to "other" connections, such as external devices with i-link in and USB or HDMI out, but I have not ever tried them. If you get set up at some point, I am under the impression that your camera can be used as a PASS THRU device, meaning it can be used to digitize media from analog devices such as VCR or older non digital 8 cameras.
Can use Composite IN to the camcorder can go OUT the firewire to computer. There is no HDMI on the camcorder and USB was only 640x480 plus it won't work with Win 8 or 10 at all. There is an SVideo connection but I've never used it. Not sure if it is IN or OUT or both. Composite to firewire works really well though.

Brent - yes, there is a composite/audio dongle and can be used for video/audio in or out. Not sure if your model has the larger SVideo port which on the end on my TRV740.

GGR - Your comment abput Windows 8 or 10 won't work slipped by me. I have Windows 8.1 on my HP Envy bought last year. I guess that means this camera using PD 15 won't work?

FYI - Temporarily, I was happy today when I received my Sony firewire but alas, it was not meant to be. PD 15,13 and 9 won't recognize the camera either.

I do have HDMI port on my laptop. I seem to recall seeing a cable with HDMI / Sony firewire at a store. Could that be used? Or does Windows 8.1 pose the problem?

Thanks

Brent
