I would not buy a Class 10 SDHC card for a Canon HD Camcorder (DSLRs may be different) unless you only want to record in SD (which sort of defeats the purpose). Read this:

http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=SupportDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=269&modelid=17993

Click on FAQ and select the question"What size or type memory card can I use in my Camera/Camcorder?"

Be sure to read the notes at the bottom.
Got 2508 installed. Couple of things: 1) I cannot enable "Enable Hardware Decoding" under the Preferences/Editing Tab. It is greyed out. I can enable the box above it for ATI Stream Technology for the preview but I had the ATI Stream Tech. enabled in the 2220c build for rendering. Why not now? Strangely enough, I can select either SVRT or Hardware encoder for the Produce tab. I have an ATI HD4890 so I would think that's capable of Hardware Decoding. 2) For some strange reason, I cannot enter DirectorZone through PD8. It keeps saying I'm using an invalid username or Password, even though I typed in exactly the email address AND PW that I use at the website through my browser and that site accepts it. Any ideas?
To Dafydd,

My dear Holmes, I'd be happy to give you the properties:

Type: MPEG-2
Original Duration: 01:14:49
Bitrate: 1513.0 kpbs
Resolution: 720X576
Frame Rate: 29.97
Aspect Ratio: 4:3

What clues do you see? Shall we play Hot 'n Cold?
Why do I call it dysfunctional without rulling out all the possible factors? You mean like, temperature, humidity, the spin of the earth?

Why? Because this has also happened with a totally different file (MTS) and because it has happened to others. And yes I have re-installed the program THREE times, have tried it with and without the 2220 update. I have posted before about program stalling during the rendering process and so have others. If it walks like a duck, looks like a duck, it's a duck.

That'll be all for now, I have to go figure out on my own how to discover the workaround for saving the individual clips. Thanks for the help.
To Tony:

Yes the project failed in the Produce session. There were no separate clips to begin with. There was one 1 hr 14min mpeg-2 clip that I cut several sections from that my friend did not want in the final movie. We got it down to 44 min. This process produced about 9 separate segments of the original clip. Now I find that even though I can save this work done, as a project, I cannot save the separate clips individually to disk which I wanted to do, albeit, as a last gasp attempt to re-import them separately into another program for merging. Yes, I suppose I could import the original mpeg file into the other software program, but that would mean I would have to get my friend to come over again and let me know where to make the cuts. Not very practical. Why can I not save these separate clips to disk? VERY poor implementation of video editing software.
To Dafydd,

My system is defragged every night by Powerdisk. I'm using the latest build, and could you please explain why there isn't a simple "MERGE clips" button that does just that? I shouldn't have to add a transition as a workaround. In any event, the program is dysfunctional if it can't render the edited movie. But I do appreciate your response. However, I do get the feeling from reading the forum posts here that Cyberlink simply does not care about what drivel it sells.
I tried to edit and render an old 8mm movie for a friend and PD locked up four times during the rendering process. Nothing special was used, just removed a few sections of the film that was captured as a MPEG 2 file from another program I have. I wanted to produce it as a DVD HQ, but program locked up my system at about 12%, then tried DVD SP and DVD LP profiles, all locked up with the best attempt reaching 60% or so. It was only a 45 min movie. Needless to say my friend was not impressed with PD and neither am I. My friend suggested that I merge the separate clips and save it to disk and try to import this new compiled Mpeg into another video editing software program. So I looked for this function. IT'S NOT HERE!! Unbelieveable. What kind of editing program has clip cutting functions but does not allow for merging of clips??? I couldn't even save the separate clips. I was totally embarassed. At this point, I think it was a waste of $100. I will most likely never buy Cyberlink software again.
Currently it's 2500. But that's for all types. Why not 2500 for video, 2500 for audio, etc. OR, why not make it unlimited? Does the limit have something to do with thumbnails? I'd like to make my entire MP3 library available as well as any videos I ever shot. Then there's an extensive special effects audio folder that I'd also like to have registered thru the program. Can someone explain why there is any limit at all? TIA,

AC
Hmm, it just seems that with the ability to use just a single function for any kind of texting, subtitling would be superfluous. But thanks for the response.
So you couldn't do that with Titles? Does PD8 have a translator function?
I've noticed that positioning of the subtitle is far more restrictive than using a regular title. And that subtitles do not use templates. Is this so?
I cannot seem to move the subtitle to 'any' location within the TV safe area. Just within the lower portion of the safe area. So when would you use one over the other? Thanks,

AC
I'm having problems with creating/burning AVCHD disks. It seems to be a problem with rendering prior to burning, but I can't be sure since the progress bar does not indicate what is being done. I do have shadow files enabled. At first I thought I needed a specal type of blank media DVD. But after about 5 failed attempts, it finally finished and the disk was indeed created. But, thankfully, I used a DVD+RW. Otherwise, I would have ruined 5 blank DVDs. I just came on today to see if anyone else had this issue and I didn't even have to turn to page two. This is very troublesome. I may have to return this software, if this keeps up. I usually get to about 21% progress and then the entire program locks and I get a Windows error message and the program completely shuts down. I have WinXP SP3, 3.2 GHz 6MB L2 cache cpu, 4GB DDR2, high end graphics card ATI 4890 and am using ATI Stream Technology. This is not acceptable.

Ok found it. But I have to be in Movie mode selection in order to change preview resolution. The TV Window icon is grayed out when Clip is selected
Where do I set preview quality? I see quality for slideshows but not videos. There's nothing in the Preferences that changes preview window quality.
What is causing this? I'm editing AVCHD .MTS files and have the shadow file option on. If the shadow files are lower resolutions, then there's no way these should preview like this. I have Win XP Pro SP3. 4GB of PC8500 DC RAM, Wolfdale E8500 CPU 6MB L2cache, RAID 0 HDDs 1.5 TB of free space and pagefile on separate drive, and ATI 4890 graphics card.
