The new camera is on the way and I need a minimum class 4 SDHC flash card. Has anyone had any experience that would recommend a faster card. It does full 1080 video, so I don't want lots of bad spots or dropped frames. __________________________________

Hi Jaime,

I have always used an 8Gb Kingston Class 6 in the Sanyo HD1010 with no apparent problems, one even survived being drowned when I killed the camera diving in the Red Sea.

On the other hand I have a cheap 16Gb no name "class 6" which is OK as a memory stick in one particular card reader but useless for anything else, the camera can use it, but insists on formatting it each time it's switched on - particularly useless.

Cheers
Adrian

Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated. (see below)

J.
I have used 2 Transend 16GB SDHC alternately in my Canon HF100 for over 2 years without a hitch. I got one with a little USB card reader as my old card reader and my old laptop won't read cards over a gig without it. I spent a bit more to get 16GB for 'capacity insurance'.

Thanks, I have a 16GB class 4, but I think I will also get a small class 6. It will be used for high action videos, but will only need to hold about 20 minutes on any given night, so speed may be more important than size right now. __________________________________

Hi Jaime

I use a SanDisk 16GB Extreme 30MB/s rated as a Class 10 for my Canon 500D DSLR HD video clips.

San Disk website have a useful selection tool so you can choose the right card for your device.

I would not buy a Class 10 SDHC card for a Canon HD Camcorder (DSLRs may be different) unless you only want to record in SD (which sort of defeats the purpose). Read this:

http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=SupportDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=269&modelid=17993

Click on FAQ and select the question"What size or type memory card can I use in my Camera/Camcorder?"

Be sure to read the notes at the bottom.
