Why is there a limit on number of media files that the Library can register?

Currently it's 2500. But that's for all types. Why not 2500 for video, 2500 for audio, etc. OR, why not make it unlimited? Does the limit have something to do with thumbnails? I'd like to make my entire MP3 library available as well as any videos I ever shot. Then there's an extensive special effects audio folder that I'd also like to have registered thru the program. Can someone explain why there is any limit at all? TIA,

AC
