I'll give this a try. Thanks for your demo clip. :o)
I tried this work-around, and it only applied the fades to track-1 - the videos - which is not what I wanted because the video track had multiple pieces that I didn't want fades in. What is needed is a button that says "Apply selected transition to selected objects". Until this happens I will continue the tedious process of manually inserting fades into my PIP track objects.
ronaldoG - Hi. I have had exactly the same problem, and have to go make a coffee while PD14 goes through saving chapter thumbnails, then title thumbnails
-------------------------------------------
We are likely jousting at windmills on this issue, but I'm glad to hear I'm not alone on this. The PC I am using for video editing has 8M ram, I7 3.4ghz processor, Geforce 660 GPU, and all my video files and the "\VIDEO" directory are on an SSD drive. Latest drivers everywhere. Previewe window small and standard (not high res). Yet yesterday PD14 went into "sloth" mode with insanely slow response on everything. Even restarting PD did not help. Performance trace showed no shortages of resources anywhere ( worst case: 35% cpu, 40% ram, no disk bottleneck). When I render videos they render at 3 video minutes per clock minute. I did a performance trace on doing a CTRL+S save and during the minutes it's waiting for "saving xyz thumbnails" it can see NO hardware resources being used. It's like PD does a "wait 30 seconds" event between every CPU instruction. The video was 7 minutes long, had 2 PIP pictures, and fades at both ends. No excuse for why PD decided to shift into first gear on the editing mode.
Unfortunately this also copies the images size and proportions, so isn't a workable solution after all.
Does anybody know where the title thumbnails and chapter thumbnails are saved? I did some performance monitoring and this slowdown is not caused by lack of cpu cycles or memory. However disk access is high. I couldn't find anything in any *.ini files that says where the thumbnails are saved. I thought perhaps if I could insure they are being saved on the SSD drive the Ctrl+S save would reduce from minutes to seconds.
Terrific! I knew about the Modify, but not about the Copy Keyframe Attributes. This will help a lot! :o)
I am creating dozens of videos that have overlay pictures here and there in the video. I would like to have the pictures fade in and out on the video. Currently I am having to manually drag a fade to the beginning and end of each picture (on a sub track). This is very labor intensive. Must zoom in to see the fade go on (doesn't add unless zoomed in), then zoom out for further editing. I can not find a way to have PD14 automatically add the fade in/out to each picture (they are not adjacent). Doesn't seem to be a way to add fades to all pics on a track after created.

This was one of the productivity improvements requested for PD14.

Does anybody have a trick to accomplish this? Would improve my productivity dramatically.

Thanks.
Boy this is really getting frustrating. Up until now this nuiscance (going back many releases) I've put up with. But now I'm doing over two dozen videos for this web site: http://jackdunnstories.weebly.com I have a powerful PC that renders videos like crazy. But every time I save my work as I'm going along I have to twiddle my thumbs for a few minutes as PD saves chapter thumbnails. Also, every once in a while PD goes into limbo for a few minutes, and I'm sure it's because of auto save. These clips are only 20 minutes with one title in them. I never need chapters as I only make MP4's for YouTube upload. I've monitored system resources with the task manager (Win 10) and the system is never stressed in terms of resources -- plenty of memory, cpu cycles, and disk speed to the SSD drive. Shadow files are going to the SSD drive because I moved the "Videos" directory there. IS THERE A WAY TO TURN OFF OR DISABLE SAVING CHAPTER THUMBNAILS! Stuff like this promulgates our love/hate relationship with PD!
Whenever I press Ctrl+S to save my projects, it is very slow doing so, even though all my files (including the Windows Video directory) are on an SSD drive. The step "Saving title thumbnails" is very slow, even though there is only one title in the project (with a background picture). Using Windows 10-1511. Any ideas?
laughing Thanks!
Interesting work-around. Actually, as has been true for the last several versions of PD, whenever PD goes berserk like happened here, if you terminate the program, then restart it, it will start acting "normal" again. This morning after restarting, the speed control works as it should.

p.s. As with a lot of actions in PD, there are unecessary mouse/keyboard actions needed. For example, when checking "Video Speed" you get a screen where you have to press a button to actually change the video speed. This screen is anti-productive. Why would you check Video Speed if you didn't want to change the video speed? Productivity improvements like this were part of the over two dozen user suggested improvements in the PD13 "Cyberlink - Read This" thread that were ignored by Cyberlink.
I'm doing my first video project since upgrading to PD14 (with latest fixes). The love/hate relationship with PD continues...

I have 9 video clips from a Robotics match. I want the first 30 seconds of each match to run at 1.5 speed (to help make the overall video shorter). I cut each clip at the 30 second mark of the clip. I adjust the speed of the first part to 1.5. It works. I go to the second clip and cut the first 30 seconds so I can speed it up. No matter what speed adjustment I make the speed adjust dialog looks correct, but the clip does not speed up when played (or previewed in the speed dialog). I try some other clips. They don't speed up either. Only the first one on the track works. I'm using the same very powerfull video editing PC that worked fine on PD13. Windows 10. This is why projects using PD take hours longer than they should!

GRRRRR!!
I just downloaded PD14 and checked it out. I can't find a single one of the user requested improvements (about 100) that were in the PD13 "Cyberlink Read This" thread.

They have added new functions:
- Action Camera Center
- Motion Tracking
- Express Project
- Screen Recording.

Otherwise Cyberlink didn't listen to their user base and implement the usability/productivity improvements the users requested in good faith.

I'll save my money and stay on PD13, unless someone can give a user who doesn't need the four new functions a good reason to upgrade.

Dafydd,

OK. Guess I'll install the trial version of PD14 and see if the user requested productivity improvements I am looking for were implemented. I was a software developer myself so understand that "marketing" changes have a higher priority than "productivity/usability" changes. But I still hold out hope that Cyberlink will listed to user feedback submitted in good faith to make a good product even better for the end user.

P.S. How can I see all the posts I created in this thread:
http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/40351.page

Or just all the threads I've created or posts I've made.
No, I found that page and they are mostly "marketing" additions. I think the users are more interested in which of the following user product improvement/productivity suggestions were implemented. In other words, was the http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/40351.page thread effective or did Cyberlink pretty much ignore it? If we upgrade will we find the product usability improvements we've been looking for?

etc.
etc.
etc. for over 100 other product improvement requests from the product users.
Dafydd,

There are over 150 product improvement user suggestions in the PD13 "Cyberlink, listen to this suggestion" thread. Can you tell us how many of these made it into PD14? In other words what's new or different in PD14 that would make us want to upgrade? Not necessarily new "features" that Cyberlink marketing wanted to implement. We're especially interested in to what extent the product improvement suggestions were implemented, to know if the productivity and operations of PD have been improved. In other words, did Cyberlink listed to us users? If I upgrade to PD14 will I notice a significant improvement user freindliness and productivity?

Thanks!

p.s. I did not find a "What's New" section in the Cyberlink PD14 web pages, but might have missed it.
"Copy Keyframe Attributes"

Great suggestion!
Allow PD to be opened in a normal or minimized window so that it can be opened on a different monitor than MON1. Currently PD will only open as mazimized (no matter what shortcut says), preventing it from being "trained" to open on a secondary monitor.
Display Fusion solves a problem for me also. Documented in this post: http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/44685.page#231481

Thanks!
Reference the editorial in the previous post.
Rebooting my computer cleared the problem. Go figure!
