Hi,
Just wondering... would it be possible for PD 19 Ultimate to copy all 3 chroma keys including their Color Range and Denoise attributes from one clip to another, like what we can do for coping keyframe attributes from one clip and past them to another?
Please see attached screenshots for details. If we manually pick chroma keys and their attributes for two seperate clips, it's not easy to make two clips match 100%.
Thanks & regards.

Never mind. We found after select Screen Color to green in Green/Blue Screen Maker section, the background is changed to solid green. This section ("Green/Blue Screen Maker") doesn't seem existing in CD 3 (the CD version that demo used) but it exists in the latestest version CD 9 that is what we are using.
Thanks & regards.

Since we are new with ColorDirector, so we are trying to apply Motion Mask to a simpler project, which has one person, a sax player.
We flow the steps in CD demo video below. At 9'14", the demo shows in order to get a solid green background, put Tolerance to max value, and it indeed works. However, for our case we cannot get a solid green background even after Tolerance is changed to max value. Please see the attached vedio clip. Not sure what we could miss and how to fix it.

Hi,
I'm new with DolorDirector. Can someone please let me know if ColorDirector 9 has functions that can be used to make faces in pre-recorded videos look smoother and younger?
Thanks & regards.

Maliek may answer himself, but here are two videos I just found: PD15 Motion Mask and a newer one for PD365/19.
I'm afraid there's no way around the need for spending some significant time editing, though.
Thank you for the demo links. Much appreciate.
The ColorDirector demo looks fun. The demo is with a object (human head) whose outline doesn't change much. Not sure if CD's Motion Tracking Mask still works with other types of object such as dancers in a dance performance, where their outlines keep changing and change fast. We'll get CD and give it a try.
Thanks & regards.

Thank you for the informaiton.
Yeah, a lot of work for this. It looks like we need to create brush masks for each of 10 dancers, and then enable the tracking function. Then each mask will follow each dancer's movement. Hope each mask (and tracking function) will no miss its dancer when two dancers move cross each other.
I couldn't find Maliek's demo video. A link would be appreciated.
Thansk & regards.

Another fix when transitions don't work as expected is to remove the transition, drag the clip to another track (like 1 track below) and then add the transiton there. You can then return it to its previous location.
Sometimes other effects will create a situation where transitions will always be glitched but luckily, it's just a few niche situations.
Why this doesn't get fixed? no idea. Extremely lazy or underfunded developers. It's been around for as long as I have used the software (8+ years) and they never do anything to fix it.
Thank you for the additional informaiton. It helps.
Regards.

That kind of glitch has been reported many times over the years and I don't think there'e ever been a single satisfactory answer. I know it's happening because you have an overlap transition between the clips on track 1 and somehow that interferes with how PD processes the sax player clip.
The good news is that it's very easy to fix: Remove the fade transition on the lower clip and instead use Opacity keyframes in the PiP Designer or Keyframe tool. Click to add a keyframe set to 100 where you want the fade-in to end, then add a new keyframe at the start of the clip and set the value to 0 and you're all set.
You can instead control+click on the thin green Opacity line at the top of the clip where you want the fade-in to end to add a keyframe there, then control+click on the start of the line and drag it down to the bootom to set it to 0.
Yeah, this is a nice trick to fix the issue. Thank you.
Regards.

I keep trying and found after delete mask in the first 3 sec and recreate mask there, then fading transaction works fine now. Not sure why mask causes this issue. This mask is used to cover some shadows (close to the sax player) that chroma keys cannot fully filter out. So the mask does not cover any part of the sax player.
Thanks & regards.

Hi,
I'm using PD 19 Ultimate. One of fading trasition does not work as expected. The rest fading trasitions work just fine. Please see the attached clip.
The sax player almost shows up immediately without fading. I tried different fading time 2sec - 5 sec and also delete-readd the fading transition but got the same effect. Sax player always "jumps" into the frame without fade in effect. In another section of the same project, 2 sec fading at the begining of that section works just fine. I couldn't find differences between this failed fading and another work fading (again, it's also at begining of a section). What could possibly cause this issue?
Your help would be appreciated.
Thanks & regards.

Thank you. It's a good idea to overlay a brush mask to reveal text underneath.

Hi,
I guess the asnwer is no but let me double check... would it be possible to use PD 19 Ultimate to change video background while it doesn't use green background?
We are working on a dance performance video that was recorded outdoor (grass on ground buildings in background). 10 dancers are moving around during the performance. I know we can extract people from videos if background is solid green color and people do not move much. Now this video doesn't meet the requirements. I guess it's impossible to replace its background?
Thanks & regards.

It's called Brush Animation. In my experience it's easier to do if you have a tablet/laptop with a stylus and touchscreen, although you can certainly use a mouse.
Thank you for the information. I'll try to find a laptop with a stylus to do the job.
By the way, would it be possible to use Brush Animation with pre-selected font and character types, like the one shown in attached screenshot?
Thanks & regards.

Hi,
Just wondering... can PD 19 Ultimate animate handwriting? I searched PD help but couldn't find any information on this effect.
Thanks & regards.

The simplest way to do that is to apply a mask on each photo and feather the edges as needed to achieve a smooth transition from one to the next. Use the online Help page for Mask Designer to see how the controls work.
Thank you for the information. It helps.

Hi,
Can someone please let's know how to put 3 photos in one frame and make the edges of each photo fuzzy?
We need to place these 3 photos in trangle position in the same frame, and then make the edges of each photo fuzzy enough so they look "naturally" blended in one frame.
One of our prevouse team members used PhotoShop for that effect. Not sure if PD 19 Ultamate can also do it.
Thanks & regards.

Thanks so much for the details. Much appreciate.
I learned a lot (and more need to learn) after extending my original questions to other areas.
Best regards.

SVRT only works when your source clip and the output profile are identical. In your screenshot, you show an H.265 (HEVC) profile so SVRT won't appear if your source clip(s) is(are) H.264 AVC or Quicktime (MOV).
The best way to find the ideal output profile is to click on Profile Analyzer and choose one of the listed options. There's a separate list of Intelligent SVRT profiles if any can be used for the current project. Choose one of those to ensure that additional producing runs will leave all unchanged sections exactly as-is.
Each of those fundamentally changes the content, so every affected frame will need to be re-rendered. That doesn't mean the quality will be terrible, though. As long as you have a decent output profile, 1 additional pass through shouldn't have a noticeable impact on quality. You defintely want to avoid multiple passes whenever possible unless you can use SVRT.
Attached screenshots show the result of Profile Analyzer.
(1) What does "As Source" mean? I guess we should pick the highest "As Source" in order to get higheast possible video quality?
(2) The top profile is "1080, 30p, 16Mbps". So video quality of this profile should be even bettern than other available profiles such as "1080, 60p, 40Mbps" and 4K profiles?
(3) After pick up one profile from the output of Profile Analyzer, SVRT is enabled automatically. Is it waht we expect?

According to this comparison chart, all versions of PD19 (lifetime license) and PD365 (subscription version) come with ScreenRecorder 4. I don't know which version you have, but I assume it isn't the subscription version since SR4 is installed automatically from the CL App Manager.
If you have PD19 Ultra/Ultimate, there should have been several installer files that came with your purchase and you may want to take another look at them and the purchase confirmation email for more details. If you have the Steam version, you'll need to check to see if SR4 is included.
I watched a tutorial of Screen Recorder, which says we can run Screen Recorder as a standalone tool. Which exe file under "C:\Program Files\CyberLink\PowerDirector19" should we run to start Screen Recorder?
Thanks & regards.

The best way to not lose any quality is to produce the first time with the same output profile you'll use for the final production. Ideally, when you go to produce the final time you'll have SVRT as an option, which will copy the unchanged frames without rendering/producing them and will only update the changed frames (like those with an added title)
Thank you for your suggestions. It helps a lot!
(1) By "output profile", does it mean "File Extension", "Profile type" and "Profile name/Quality"? Do I also need to use the same setting for all other options such as SVRT, etc?
(2) Attached screenshot (SVRT-disabled.jpg) shows SVRT is disabled. Why and how to enable it?
(3) When SVRT is used, will the following two changes need to be redering/producing? I hope they can be simply copied from the original frames but not sure about it.
a) Zoom in/out
b) Panning left/right
Quote
Your video shows that you used the Pan & Zoom tool on the background clip. Clips modified using those tools are basically locked to those settings on the main timeline which is why none of the normal options are available.
Instead use the PiP Designer or the Keyframes button to set the Scale and Position values as needed, then you'll be able to transfer those settings directly to the video clip as I described.
FYI PD comes with a free ScreenRecorder utility that will give you much higher quality recordings than trying to record your monitor with a phone 👍
(1) Thank you for the info again. Yes, I tried PiP and could copy-past Keyframe from one clip to another now. This is very handy and powerful tool. Like it!
(2) PD help shows "To access the Screen Recorder dialog, select Screen Recorder from the Plugins menu" but not sure why my PD Plugins doesn't have this entry (please see attached screenshots). Do we need to install any additional packages?

There are two easy ways of doing this.
The first is to finish the video with everthing except titles/overlays and without the zooms, then produce it. This "bakes in" the separate video with the background image and you can zoom in anywhere you want on the single video before adding titles and any other finishing touches.
The other way is to create all the zooms needed in one of the clips using keyframes - maybe workiong with the background image as that probably gives you the best sense of what the finished product will look like - then right-click on it and choose Copy Keyframe Attributes.
Now select the other clip, right-click and choose Paste Keyframe Attributes and the zoom keyframes will be duplicated exactly.
Thank you for the information.
For the first method, it should be working perfectly. Just curious, do we loose any video details when produce it twice?
For the second method, I tried "Past Keyframes Attributes" but it does not past the copied keyframes from the 1st clip to the 2nd clip. Please see attached clip. Not sure what I could miss.
Thanks & regards.

Hi,
Suppose there are two clips, one clip is a still photo (nightclub bar) used as background and the other clip is a person playing sax that is extracted from a video with green background.
We need to zoom in/out during sax play to make the video vivid. The question is how we can syncronize both background clip and front person clip when zoom in/out? This is necessary to make the final production video look real (i.e. a person really play sax in nighclub bar).
We can zoom in/out both clips independently but it's hard to make them coordinate 100% during both clips zoom in/out, which makes the final product video looks bad.
Thank & regards.
