Hi Everyone,

I'm not sure of the easiest way to describe what I am trying to create, so apologies if it is a lengthy description.

I have a fairly straightforward car journey video (dash-cam) and wish for a "face", or other object, to randomly appear in the centre of the clip, starting as a pin-prick and increasing in size until it occupies about 50% of the screen before "dissolving/disintegrating/exploding/disappearing", without interrupting the video/journey.

The "face", or other objects, are currently in .jpg format but I can easily convert them to a host of alternative formats if necessary.

The whole process, from pin-prick to disappearance, needs to be controllable in regard to time visible.

All suggestions greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Ian

Easy enough to do. Place the same video clip aligned in both track 1 and track 2. Use PiP designer to make an enlarged section of the lower right portion of the video in track 2 and move it to the upper left. Use a mask and move it to the upper left. Uncheck maintain Aspect ratio and adjust the mask. See the attached screenshot result.

This should get you started.

Hi tomasc,

Yet again you have helped me out.

Your instructions were perfect and the result is just what I wanted.

My grateful thanks once again.

Hi Everyone,

I am convinced that what I would like to see in my video project is possible --- but I just can't seem to make it happen.

I'd be grateful if someone out there would (a) point me in the right direction, or (b) tell me to stop wasting my time.

The video is produced from a static camera.

From the attached image (used only for illustrative purposes and with the building NOT being relative to my video) can be seen a yellow rectangle in the lower right section of the image.

In the upper left region there is a slightly larger green rectangle.

I am trying to configure my video to display an enlarged view of everything/anything that is happening in the yellow rectangle location simultaneously in the green rectangle. (The rectangles are optional)

Many thanks,

Ian

PS -- I am using PD-16.
Quote That is strange. See my screen capture attachment. The clip-on track 2 returns to the beginning of the clip after playing. Did you click Ok after making any changes in Preferences??

Hi tomasc,

I decided to close everything down and reboot my system and, as a result, I am pleased to say that the pointer is now behaving just as you said it should -- I've even dropped a clip into Track 3 and that works great too.

So, my thanks to you and Hatti for having come to my rescue.

I hope I may help you both at some time too.

Kind regards,

Ian

Quote Is there any way in which PD can be configured so that the pointer returnes only to the beginning of the most recently added video-clip, or simply halts at the end of it?

Sure. Uncheck the box for Switch to movie mode automatically during playback shown in your screenshot and the pointer will return to the beginnining of that same clip instead of returning to the whole project.

Hi tomasc,

Well, I did as you suggested and (initially) found it made no difference.

However, as you will see from the screen-shots attached ----

Image 1 shows the default position I use for adding/editing video clips.
(Track 1 is for edited items) with (Track 2 for items undergoing editing).
In this configuration the pointer returms to the beginning of Track 1 after playing back the clip in Track 2)

However, when the clip for editing is placed into Track 1, the pointer does indeed only return to the beginning of that clip.

Now all I need is a way for it to operate on Track 2 instead of Track 1 -- any ideas please ????

Ian
Hi Hatti,

Thank you for a very quick reply.

Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be the same facility in PD15.

I have attached a screenshot.
All shown as selected in this have been tried in unselected, but makes no difference.

So, no "ahhhhh, so good" for me, unfortunately -- unless someone else knows something !!

Best regards,

Ian
Hi Everyone,

I am relatively new to PD15 and, whilst creating a new video from a load of smaller videos, I got frustrated with the vertical location pointer (red line) always returning to the beginning of the project.

I am currently at about the 25th video clip in the project and, immediately I have reviewed that clip, the vertical pointer shoots back to the beginning of the whole project.

Is there any way in which PD can be configured so that the pointer returnes only to the beginning of the most recently added video-clip, or simply halts at the end of it?

Thank you,

Ian
Hi Sturman,
My apologies for not having posted the Cyberlink provided answer to my original question, and which appears to have solved the problem for me ---
Dear Customer,
Thank you for contacting CyberLink.
Regarding your concern, we need more information to investigate this
issue further. Therefore, please provide us below information.
1) Please try to disable "Preferences -> General -> "Enable HD video processing", will this issue persist?
2) Please try to disable all options under "Preferences -> Hardware Acceleration", will this issue persist?

Hope it works for you too.

Hi Everyone,

I have been doing a lot of "clipping" of several videos and have ended up with hundreds of "bits" with spaces between them.

Short of moving each one manually, I can't see any means of shuffling them all together. (Other than using the <Remove and Fill Gap> option whenever possible.

I'm sure there has to be an easy way of doing this and would appreciate any suggestions.

Thank you,

Ian
Hi Carl312, and thanks for your helpful response.

I too would (normally) suspect the Video Driver, except I am running a Radeon RX-550 (2GB) which had the latest driver update added a couple of weeks ago.

As a cross-check I have carried out exactly the same kind of edit using the (now defunct) programme Serif MoviePlusX6 and it works perfectly.

I have also checked the individual .MP4 files by running them in Windows Media Player and VLC Media Player, again with no signs of problem.

It appears to be a problem with PD-15.

Ian
Hi Everyone,

I am a new user of PD_15 (latest Patch applied) and have come across a problem with which I would appreciate some help.

During editing, usually after <Split> <Remove> <Fill Gap> when I come to restart previewing, the preview screen either flashes green intermittently, or stays full green permanently, and I completely lose clip viewing.

I have a fairly robust system, being a Quad core i5 Intel processor, 32Gb RAM, Win7 Ultimate SP1 64 bit.

I'd appreciate any advice on this please.
