Quote It does sound like that your pc is low on resources. Try this: After selecting your menu, save the project. Close PD. Wait a minute. Reopen PD and your project. Go to Greate Disc and Preview the Disc menu.

There can be many ways to free up memory and resources. Please read this sticky: https://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/77190.page and attach a DxDiag.txt on your next reply.

Thanks. I tried saving it and opening it up again. Same black background.

I have to correct my first post. I was wrong about all the templates not working. Some do, actually.

Here are the ones that won't show:
Baby Room
Best Vacation Guide
Birthday
Cinematic
Hearts
Ink Splatter
Memory Chest
Music Box
Road Trip

I don't think it's a resource issue. My PC has 32 Gb of memory, with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580 graphics card.

On one of my other computers, I have Power Director 15. That PC has 16 Gb of memory. I can open every single one of those templates without an issue.

Could some templates be corrupted? Just trying to understand why some work, and others don't.

Look forward to your help. Thanks much.
I'm using PD17. It's updated with all the patches.

I created a video, used the menu preferences to create an opening background (Birthday). I applied the preference to all pages, but only the font shows up.

The background is black.

It shows the title, which I can edit, and the Play and Scenes icons.

When I burn the blu-ray, it burns fine.

Playing it has the opening music for that template, with a black background, which eventually shows the title, play and scenes.

I've tried other templates, and they all give me a black background.

I've been able to make various videos in the past with whatever theme I wanted, without a problem

Please advise.

Thanks.
Thanks to all. Fortunately, I have Blu-ray.

I was making the DVD for someone else, who owns the DVD player. She's still in the CRT tv era.smile
Please bear with me. I'm a newbie.

I have PD17. I imported an mp4 from a 4K camcorder.

The length of the video is about 33 minutes.

I want to get this movie onto a DVD, for home viewing.

I've tried a number of things to get the highest quality out of the DVD, but it seems that I always end up with a file that is the 720x480/60i (mpg).

The original mp4 is over 13 Gb. Isn't there a way to get the resolution of the final DVD higher?

If you could point me to a tutorial, or better yet, walk me through some steps that I'm obviously missing, I would appreciate it.

Thank you.
First time posting here and a novice with Powerdirector 15.

I am using a digital video camcorder to bring video into PD15 for editing. I'm using an IEEE 1394 cord.

PD runs the camcorder, of course.

I've tried manual batch capture and when I follow the instructions on the interface, I don't see the Mark in or Mark out highlighted.

So, with the tape rewound, I click on Perform Manual Batch Capture. A screen pops up, telling me, step by step what I need to do.

Step 1 is click the "add" button. I do that. I don't see any changes, so then I go to step 2, which is "set a frame as the starting position using the playback controls and then click Mark in."

This is where I'm stuck. The Mark in and Mark out indicators are not highlighted.

I can advance each frame by clicking on the "next" frame button, and I'm well into the video, and the Mark in or Mark out indicators are still greyed out.

Clearly, I'm doing this incorrectly. I could sure use some advice.

Thanks.

Alan
