jonobugs -- Your point? Be clear so we can understand your motives.

I guess it pays to be a long term customer ! wink

For example : Many car companies give discounts for people upgrading from an earlier model year. It is not unuaual.

I'm terribly sorry. I didn't mean to be unclear. I was just making a comment. As far as I'm aware, I have no motives!

It didn't occur to me that newer versions of the software would not include the materials from the older versions. Thank you for making that more clear to me.

I'm not a long time customer as I had only discovered this software last year. I really enjoy using it, but I do have a few complaints about some of the controls, etc. In any case, even though I'm mostly happy with the PD15, I wanted to get PD16 because I want to take my old software to work and use it there.
Quote Some of the contents (transitions, titles, etc.) from the earlier version are normally added to the contents of newer versions during installation. If you remove them before that, they will not be available in PD 16.

Oh, I see. So, I guess people who are buying PD 16 who don't have previous versions won't have access to those materials. That's interesting.

Quote I just bought PowerDirector 16 (Full version) and I already have PowerDirector 15. Is it possible to remove Powerdirector 15 from my computer and install it on a different computer before I install PowerDirector 16?

Do I have to de-activate it or anything, or is it straightforward?

I was thinking that I just have to uninstall it on my current computer and that would allow me to install it on another computer. Am I right about this?

Thanks for any help!
The license states one computer. You can remove PD 15 from your computer, then with the original installation files/DVD you can install it on your other computer.

You do not have to de-activate, just remove.

Because of the early contents, you may want to install PD 16 before you remove PD 15. That way any contents that can be moved forward will be.

Thanks! I'm just curious about your last statement. I don't understand it completely. What do you mean by "any contents that can be moved forward will be"? Are you saying that there will be some content from PD15 that I will not be able to move over to the new computer? If that's the case, why not? I bought a full license for PD16, not an upgrade.

Quote Did you get that PowerDirector as a freebie with a piece of hardware? If so, it is an OEM and can't be updated. Also if you have live, update through the Live ApplicationManager.

Did you read this?

Note: This patch is not for PowerDirector Live subscribers, OEM versions, or versions purchased via Steam.

Thanks for the response. As far as I know, I bought the full software program. I have the box and manuals, etc. But I did prchase it in Japan online. In any case I paid the full retail price 😄I'm not sure what Live is. I'll have to look that up.
I receive a notification that there is an update available, but when I try to run it, I get an error message that says, "This app can't run on your PC" and underneath in smaller text, "To find a version for your PC, check with your software publisher".

Before that, message came up, Windows anti-virus had kicked in to block the downloader from running. I had to turn it off, but it still won't run or install.

I am running the latest version of Windows 10.

I was going to write to Cyberlink support, but I thought I would try the forums first. Besides, I couldn't find the support email. :

Any suggestions?

Quote I'm trying to import video from an lg 360 camera which films at 30fps and my default project setting is also at 30fps, but I'm guessing that there is a slight variance (maybe 29.97fps) for the project setting.

In any case, I used to get an error message about the frame rate and although it renders the project just fine, my video is nearly impossible to view while I'm editing as frames are dropped, etc. Another slight problem is that I'm also using another camera set to 30fps and it seems to have no problems but because frames are being dropped from my other video, the audio is also out of sync.

Is there a way to fix this or am I just stuck with the bad viewing options.

Thanks!

Sounds like the LG 360 creates some pretty large video files. What are you computer specs?

I suppose the files can be large, but even a very short clip that isn't large has this problem. My computer is pretty basic; I have an i7 4770KCPU @ 3.50GHz, 16Gb Ram and 3Tb hard drive.

That should be good enough for a small video, I think. I have run demos of Sony Vegas on it with no problem, but I couldn't get the results I wanted with the 360 Video.

I can't remember the exact message that pops up because I ended up clicking the checkbox that stops the message from popping up, but it basically said that my frame rate is different from the project settings which will cause frame drop outs.

Quote Hi jonobugs,

This is a 2-year-old topic and is on the forum for older versions of Power Director. You would be more likely to get an answer to your query if you start a new topic on the Power Director 15 forum.

Thanks
Quote You can select only 24 fps (film), 25 fps (PAL), 30 fps (NTSC), 50 fps (PAL) or 60 fps (NTSC).

Preferences > General > Drop down at Timeline frame rate. You can choose Use drop frame timecode (YES) or (NO).

17.54 FPS is not a standard frame rate. You can safely ignore the warning.

Powerdirector will convert the strange frame rate to a standard frame rate when you produce a video.
It will add or drop frames to comply.

I have a similar problem. I'm using PD 15, and when I drag my video onto the timeline I get an error message that they are different frame rates. My video is 30fps and my project is also 30fps but I suspect that one of them is actually 29. (something).

When I render the project, it's fine, but while I'm editing it's difficult to see what's going on as the playback is all garbled.

Is there any way that I can sync the settings beforehand or get the edit playback to be smooth somehow?
Hi Tony,

Thanks for the tip! As I was saying, I was just checking out PiP and how to download a few things but I wasn't actually working on a project so I didn't need to switch it over. But it's a really handy tip to know!

Also, I subscribed to your channel as you're very helpful! Well, I gotta go and start editing some video now! laughing
I haven't had a chance to check that out yet, but I'm sure that's the answer. I thought so myself, but I don't really know how to change the format without starting a new project. I'll be sure to check that out when I have some time!

Thank you so much for your help!

Quote Hi jonobugs -

You're largely on the right track.

If you save the .dzp file & double click it should install & you'll get a confirmation pop-up.

If you right click & select Open with... Effect Extractor should appear as the default app.

The couple of screenshots attached might help.

Cheers - Tony

Thanks Tony!

It didn't work. For some reason there was no program associated with .dzp files so I originally chose Powerdirector as the program to open. After reading your solution I searched for the effect extractor program which I found under the color director directory. I tried opening it with that and it seems to work, but now I don't know where to find them. I took a look through all the ones I had, but it didn't seem to show up. It did show up with a message that the dimensions were different. Does that mean I would have to change the video to 4:3 to have the template show up? My template is now at 16:9.
Hi,

I'm new to this program and I am still playing around with the software. I was reading about PiP templates and thought it might be interesting so I clicked on free templates and downloaded a few samples.

From what I read you just double click the dzp files and they will open automatically. However, that wasn't the case. Windows 10 did not recognize the file extension, so I pointed it to Powerdirector 15, but when it tried to open the files, an error message popped up.

I also tried to open it from Powerdirector itself by importing, but that didn't work either. Same error message, unsupported format. I tried several different files in case the one I downloaded wasn't working, but I got the same error message each time.

So, could anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks!
