In version 17 and (as I recall) earlier, the program would present the track list, and while the music played one would retain immediate access to the list, for all purposes. Now I'm seeing something very different. Clicking on a track leads to a new screen replacing the list screen, the new one containing only information about the single track. For anything else one must return to the previous screen, but--second surprise--that on the instant cuts off the playing of the track. That new screen holds hostage the entire program.
The critical issues mentioned above are that: 1) less information is now provided; 2) the single track screen, in my experience, appears to close off the rest of the program, such that attempting to reach another screen immediately turns off the playing track. I seriously doubt that anyone would advocate either.
Point #2 particularly galls me, because it seems to contradict this reference in the manual, from p. 42, informing us that "when you play music in CyberLink PowerDVD, it continues to play if you view photos and play slideshows, and browse through media on the other tabs." Either I'm misinterpreting this, or I'm dealing with a bug, because _everytime_ I leave that single track screen (in order, perhaps, to do all those other fun things) the music stops right then.

I see this problem reading straight from CDs, or from tracks ripped into folders, or playlists:

Unless, of course, in the upgrading I've simply missed a checkbox that will reset this business. I looked everywhere, but found nothing. Did I overlook it?

I tried this registry method, which was both easy and (so far) successful. PowerDvd 17 is back in action! I dealt with a previous case via the uninstall-reinstall method. I much prefer this latest way, if it holds. Thanks to those who came up with it.

New to PowerDirector!
I am shooting with an infrared-converted camera. Processing photographs in stills software is simple enough: one click to set white balance, another to mix or swap the red and blue color channels, thereby creating the distinctive IR look.
The camera shoots video as well. Can PD 14 be used to process IR video? Setting white balance is exactly the same as I'm used to doing, but if there be a setting to mix channels (or a clever work-around), I haven't found it. To the experts: is there a way?
Thank you for the advice.

Thank you for your interest. What I describe occurs with all CDs. The poor track information is odd enough, but I was really puzzled by the inability to edit them. I take it there is a way?

A search turned up nothing on this, so I suspect I'm dealing with a weird software fluke. Here is the deal: when I first play a CD, all I get is "Track #1", "Track #2", etc.; on the second playing the information fills in, but clumsily. Then, I lose all track numbering--to the left of every track, under the "#", all I get is "1". This would not be such a problem, merely an annoyance, except that I can not find any way to edit this stuff! I do not believe commercial software would be so limited, but if there are settings to make the track numbers fill in correctly, or that allow me to alter track info, I have not found them. I would appreciate aid or clarification on this point.
