Quote Solution from Cyberlink:
With reference to your query, after investigating, the issue also happens when using software developing tool “Graph Editor” without PowerDirector installed. To avoid the error of Corel Video Studio Ultimate 2018 affects PowerDirector users, we have found a solution to workaround the issue. The solution would be implemented in the next patch.

It is suggested to follow the steps below to replace the module manually as the temp solution.

1. Depend on your OS version, download the file CLDVinf.ax from one of the links below. If your Windows is 64bit version, download the 64bit version module. If your Windows is 32bit version, download the 32bit version module. Extract the downloaded file CLDVinf.zip, you can find the module CLDVinf.ax.

64bit: http://download.cyberlink.com/ftpdload/ ... LDVinf.zip
32bit: http://download.cyberlink.com/ftpdload/ ... LDVinf.zip

2. Browse the below folder on your PC

Crogram Files\CyberLink\PowerDirector16\runtime\recordingPack

3. Find the file CLDVinf.ax in the folder and rename the file as the backup.
4. Copy the downloaded CLDVinf.ax to the same folder.
5. Launch PowerDirector to check again.

Thank you for this fix. It also works for PD15 running under win7. I just tried it.
Quote Think of an ISO as an actual disc. If it's a DVD then the file structure on it gives a DVD player all the instructions needed to play the DVD plus the DVD menu (if there is one). You can't just merges two ISO's or two DVD's.

You can mount the ISO, a process that makes them appear to your computer as if they are physical DVD's and then you can copy the video files (.vob's) off them to create another project, assuming that they are not protected in any way.

Does that help?

p.s. - do you mean you want to split what is contained on your ISO up and create 3 different DVD's with the contents?

Thanks for the info, I'll just merge the projects.

:
I've created an ISO file for multiple projects.

Now, I'd like to combine them into 3 DVDs.

I know I can merge the projects in PD15, but is there a way to instead merge the ISO files onto a DVD and end up with the same result as if I'd have merged their respective project files?

If this has been previously asked/answered can someone refer me to that link please?

Quote Good luck. Keep us posted on what you find.

Still experiencing random crashes, but I managed to finish the project.

Each DL DVD consists of approximately four 1.5GB projects each with 5-20 chapters.

Each project is selectable from the main menu and each project contains its own chapters.

I think I will upgrade to PD15 and try my luck w/that.

The laptop that I reported didn't crash....it did.....it just crashed less often.

My DVD consists of four bands....each selectable from the main menu.

On each bands page, I can select the individual songs they played in their concert.
Quote Thanks, I figured it out. You have to make sure that all your buttons and anything you create is far away from one another.

I found it HELPFUL to turn on TV grid lines which is the rectangle button next to the Root button on the create disk screen. I moved some text within the grid lines that was previously outside them and this fixed the issue for me.

The message could be more informative and twood be nice if there were a more intuitive way of quickly determining this problem cause.

Quote The custom menus are located in Documents\Cyberlink\Custom Menus\3.0\. The menus are in folders Menu_??? where ??? is from 000 up to whatever is the highest number of your created custom menus.

Gotit, thanks.

So, I think I somehow fixed this issue.

It had NOTHING to do with where the program was installed, how much remaining disk space there is, etc.

I looked at the settings that "worked" on my laptop and I started changing the few things on the "broken" system. There weren't many things different (the files path was different but I didn't change them). I'm THINKING that what made a difference is the hardware acceleration Enable OPEN CL. It was checked on the broken system but not the working one. SO, I unchecked it and saved the settings.

I'll finish the project I'm working on now and then I'll report back on specifically which setting(s) caused the breakage.

Thanks to All.

Quote The number one issue for crashes can be the video driver. You are right to update it. You may lose hardware acceleration or encoding with newer drivers but your system can be more stable with the update.

Found the PD13 minimum requirement for hard drive space here: http://www.cyberlink.com/support/product-faq-content.do?id=17743&prodId=4&prodVerId=-1&CategoryId=-1&keyword=blu-ray .

A contributor pointed out that PD15 only required 7 GB free of hard disk space instead of the required 60 or 100 GB for the older versions to create a BD. That is found in the spec of PD15 here: http://www.cyberlink.com/products/powerdirector-ultra/spec_en_US.html .

BD creation in the authoring creates the temp files and folders or an image on the hard drive first before burning it to disk. Unless there has been major changes 7 GB free may not be enough to create a 25 GB BD unless the BD < 7GB in size. PD15 may or may not work better for you.

You may want to ask cyberlink support these questions to get their answers.

Thanks, I'm only creating a DL DVD, not a BluRay.

So, I decided to install an ATI video card in the system with current drivers.

Made no diff...still crashes when inserting multiple projects.

Next, I think I want to reinstall PD13 BUT I'd like to know where I can find all the custom menus I've modified/created. The thread on this board indicated they're "all over the place."

Quote The 240 GB ssd drive G: only has 10.6 GB free. That is not enough free space to create a 25 GB BD (Blu-ray disc). The boot drive C: does have 255 GB free and should have been okay. 60GB free hard drive space is said to be the minimum to create a BD and allowing the temp files to be created.

I think that you answered your own question here that PD13 does not crash on your less capable laptop. Upgrading to PD15 is not going to help as it is not a known problem to me.

I did check the product help for crash. There is a new nvidia driver 342.01 released dec 14, 2016 that you can install to see if it fix the problem. If the problem is still there then you can contact Cyberlink support and start a new ticket with them in the meantime while awaiting suggestions from other users.

Ya, I know that....I saw the update.

I'll eventually figure out what's goin' on here. Main thing is that I know what I'm reporting is not a KNOWN issue.

Thanks for the prompt help. I'll report back when I know more.
Quote You do have the very minimum cpu in the computer for HD video editing in my view. Go to Preferences/File and let us know which of the drives house your File Import and File Export folders.

Well, my laptop that has PD13 on it and has even less capability doesn't have the problem, so that leads me to believe that it's something about this installation causing the issue.

I've changed the import/export folders to be either the C or G (ssd) drives....makes no diff.

Still crashes.

Quote It was suggested that I run dxdiag, but I don't know what that is.

Thank you for starting a new post. Please read this sticky on creating a DxDiag.txt file at attach on your next post: http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/50108.page#post_box_263490 . Members may be able to help once they read your attached file.

dxdiag.txt file is attached
I'm running PL 3513 of PD13 and experiencing repeatable program crashes
every time I'm in the Create Disk function and attempt to ADD one
project to an exisiting project. I have recreated the primary and 2ndary
projects multiple times. Each of them ON THEIR OWN loads fine as does
the menu I've used for that project.

But open a NEW project, go to create menu and ADD projects and CRASHOLA.

I'm running Win7 with all the current updates.

Is this a known problem?

I'll happily upgrade to PD 15 if this was fixed. If not then I might as well quit while I'm ahead.

I only do these complex projects once per year. I was able to successfully import and burn ISO files of 2 similar projects, but even those I had multiple crashes before I was able to import the 4 project files into the project.

It was suggested that I run dxdiag, but I don't know what that is.

Additional info: PD13 is installed on an SSD drive G and the project files are on the same drive. I don't know why this would make a dif.

Has there been any change to the ability to add a different photo for each scene menu?

For example, I have a main menu that I apply a photo to.

I have 3 scene menus, each with 5 scenes.

In PD13, I can have a photo on the scene menu different from the main menu but I cannot have 3 unique photos as backgrounds to the 3 scene menus.

TIA,

Walt
I think I finally have what I wanted.

It took some menu editing to accomplish this but I can play the entire show, or select band sets and individual trax of each.

I think I know what I did. I'll soon find out because I have 2 more dvd to make in similar fashion.
Thanks for the prompt answer. Problems always seem to find me. :

I disable default music for ALL pages.
I have unique pix on the root menu and the same pic on each chapter page. No other background. Before I imported an image, I deleted the background since there's no reason for it.

I'll take your suggestion and wait for additional input.
I have multiple projects each with its own menu(s) and between 10-30 chapters each.

What I'd like to do is COMBINE them and burn a DVD.

For example, I have one project with 30 chapters and it's own root pic and a chapters pic.

I have a second project with 10 chapers and it's own root menu pic and a chapters pic.

I'd like to COMBINE these such that the menu structures for each project are maintained along with the pics that "go" with each of the menus. I've tried insert project and PD13 seems to loose track of what's what.

The end result I'd like is a DVD menu that allows me to select which of the two projects to play, then another menu that allows me to select play the show or select chapters to play.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

TIA,

Walt
Big thanks to those of you responding to my post with such helpful info.
