Insert Project with Menu
[Post New]
I have multiple projects each with its own menu(s) and between 10-30 chapters each.

What I'd like to do is COMBINE them and burn a DVD.

For example, I have one project with 30 chapters and it's own root pic and a chapters pic.

I have a second project with 10 chapers and it's own root menu pic and a chapters pic.

I'd like to COMBINE these such that the menu structures for each project are maintained along with the pics that "go" with each of the menus. I've tried insert project and PD13 seems to loose track of what's what.

The end result I'd like is a DVD menu that allows me to select which of the two projects to play, then another menu that allows me to select play the show or select chapters to play.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

TIA,

Walt

PD13 did not lose track of what's what. This problem or abnormality has existed in every version of PD that I know of. You are the first to post about this. I'm sure it's well known and other users fix it themselves and never mention it or silently live with it as is.

You have stated that you created multiple projects with menus and combine them on one dvd. I have done exactly that in the past with BD. Several ways to do this:

  1. On your first project. Goto the Create Disc/Contents and import all those additional projects.

  2. 2. Create a new project, select a menu and import all those other projects.

In the 1st scenario there will be abnormalities whether you choose to keep menu data or not. In preview the thumbnails on the 2nd project can be missing and the text for the next chapter is below the first one. The fix for this is to select the 2nd project, choose no menu, then choose the correct menu again,

Whoa... You probably also chose a different background picture and different music for each chapter/title page. I have not had a chance to play with that with multiple projects with different menus. Wait for the answer from Jeff or someone else before proceding.

It is good that you brought up these problems that you have found in the use of PD.

Thanks for the prompt answer. Problems always seem to find me. :

I disable default music for ALL pages.
I have unique pix on the root menu and the same pic on each chapter page. No other background. Before I imported an image, I deleted the background since there's no reason for it.

I'll take your suggestion and wait for additional input.

If you are happy with the menu now then you could burn the dvd. The abnormality exist on all versions of PD that I have used so far. I remember that after the fix, custom music on the 2nd project defaults back to the original. You have to set it back to what you wanted. Go ahead and put those custom background images the way you wanted them to see if it holds now in the preview.

You might end up with what you want without waiting. We have no guarantee that someone else is going to respond. If it doesn't work the way you want then report it here. I have never put a different background image on each title/chapter page on multiple projects with different menus on a BD or DVD. Only way to find out if this solves the problem is to do it. Should take only a few minutes...or wait.

I think I finally have what I wanted.

It took some menu editing to accomplish this but I can play the entire show, or select band sets and individual trax of each.

I think I know what I did. I'll soon find out because I have 2 more dvd to make in similar fashion.
