here are my pages, AFTER I made the picture windows much smaller (on the chapter/scenes page). Some of them were overlapping (the frame when you selected one overlapped where the frame of another would be), but the windows themselves never overlapped. Could that be the issue?

I have one "root" page with only a play button and a "scenes" button. The next menu page has 6 chapter "buttons" (picture windows...since that's what it forces you to use- still don't know how to remove those). that's it! Plus the oveall runtime is 26 minutes (from one video file). Not long at all.

As far as I could tell the chapter "buttons" (picture activators ---not sure they should be called "buttons") are not even touching one another.

So it is very strange I get the error message. Maybe I'll just bite the bullet and burn a regular DVD?

Sorry I can't post screen shots right now, maybe later tonight.

Thanks.
Hi guys, I clicked on "burn" to make my DVD, and this message comes up:

"either a thumbnail (menu caption) or the navigation buttons are currently overlapping. Try adjusting them for the disc format."

....I never see this message when making a standard DVD. Does this message have something to do with the fact that I'm burning as an AVCHD? The settings Im using are "widescreen" and "HD 1920 X 1080".

I was advised making an AVCHD would be best to maintain my HD footage on the final DVD without having to burn to a Blu-Ray, which is why I'm using AVCHD.

Thanks again for (more) advice!
(I did post this as a new question in the forum, but figured you would know best).

Thanks Stevek,
I have a 30 min. movie, so maybe I'll just make an AVCHD of it with my DVD burner and a quality disc. At least it will make the best of the HD footage.
Hello all,
I want to place a vector based logo (created in Adobe illustrator) onto my movie timeline. What is the best file format to use: JPEG, PNG,...something else?

Thanks!
thanks for the reply. So it's not possible to get the 1080p HD picture on my DVD? I need to burn it for a Blu-Ray player to achieve that?
I have High definition footage from a camcorder. What are the best settinsg to use when "producing" my final movie (BEFORE burning a disc)? MPEG 4?... MPEG2? And then what are the best settings (or advice) to choose when going to the Burn DVD step? I just want the best picture I can get in the end when played on a television. So far I burned a disc and it looked ok but some of the chapters the overall picture was "darker" than others. Any advice is GREATLY appreciated!
Ok, seems like it should be simple.. .I went to CREATE DISC, clicked on CREATE MENU to make my own menu, set a custom picture for the background. I don't want "My Videos" to be the title. I am unable to edit this text. Oh sure I can move the location, change the color, etc., but how do you EDIT the text? It allows you to edit this text when you change one of their exiting templates, but not under CREATE MENU. Why can't I select it and change "My Videos" to something different? Also, is it possible to get ALL chapters (I have 10) on ONE titles/chapters screen?

Thanks in advance!
I just downloaded the first patch for PD11, and the transitions are working fine. I will do everything you mentioned and give it a go. In fact I might just download all patches.
I'll post again how things are going when done.

Thanks so much for helping me out! Check back if you still have the patience. Much appreciated!
Being a new user, I'm not sure I understand video clips rendering while on the timeline...I thought you either view a library clip, or you view the movie preview in the preview window (one or the other) and the rendering takes place as soon as you edit the timeline. I understand the green means it has been rendered/finished editing. Am I missing something?

I just bought this PD11 and installed it, but maybe you are right about installing the patch. Let me know if you have any more details of exactly what patch to get, and what steps I should take to render properly. Sorry, I am a new user but willing to figure it out...with some help. Thanks so much!
Hello Everyone,
I placed a transition between two clips on the timeline and the render time is really long!

I would think it would go much faster, because...I'm using a brand new 16GB Ram, 8 CORE AMD PC with an MSI 2GB Ram GPU card...running Powerdirector 11 Ultimare Suite -- although I am using HD video clips in my project. Any ideas why rendering is taking so long? Could it be the HD footage?

I UNchecked "enable HD video processing (shadow file)" in my preferences, and I am going to check the "Enable Open CL technology to speed up video effects/render preview" in the Hardware Acceleration preference.

Any advice is GREATLY APPRECIATED!
