Hi many thanks for your replys
Dafydd - I have all the files that I am using in the project on my C drive (my Videos and Desktop) so the USB drives should not be an issue
Many thanks for the info re hidden files though, I have at least managed to get the save before the problems occurred ill have another tinker and see if I get the same issue again
James - All my programs are up to date with latest patches
Phil - Interestingly I have used a lot of fade transitions but the problem only seemed/seems to manifest itself after applying the color adjustment (under fix/enhance). Good point though re using the produced media
Thanks again

Hi
I had a problem lately with one of my projects that i was working on a few weeks ago. After adding colour correction to a few of the clips (brightness) the project would not open when i next went to open it. It opened to 79% and then the screen went white and a "PDR11 has stopped working" message appeared. I tried reinstalling but still got the error, luckily i had made a backup project under a slightly different name so only lost a few days work. I opened that one and then overwrote the corrupted one.
I have now got to the stage of adding the colour correction again and managed to produce the movie, however i wanted to change something and low and behold i am getting the same issue as last week getting to 79% and then crashing
Is the project corrupted or is there a problem with colour correction, anything i can do? can anyone help please

Hi
I am trying to add some text to a video intro that i have from a previous project. I ideally want the text to curve around a ball shape does anyone know if this is possible in Powerdirector 11 and if so how to do it.
I am also trying to match the exact colour of some existing text in the video, is it a case of trial and error with the colour bars or is there a dropper option like in croma key
Many thanks

Guys thanks you so much, I have used the settings that Xerox suggested and the SVRT is now working.
Xerox thanks so much for the info re camera settings ill change capture in future to the progressive setting, school boy error should always read the manual lol
Great Forum, and great product

Thanks Dave tried that and it shows the SVRT custom profile that I created to match the Intelligent SVRT one however it always shows red and that all the file needs rendering.
vn800rider thanks for the info its a shame that SVRT cannot be used, especially as it was one of the selling points for me. Im going to carry on trying to get a result, but sad to say I think I will end up being in the same situation as yourself

Xerox many thanks for the reply
My camera is a Sanyo Xacti VPC-SH1 and the setting I used for the test capture and all my others is on Full HD 1920 x 1080 60 field/s (as taken from the camera settings)
I have used Gspot and MediaInfo and both are saying that my clips are 59.940 fps, im not sure how I can tell if it is progressive or not although I always did think that this camera captured in full 1080p
I have tried your suggestions and various options on a clip that lasted 2mins with no additions or transitions and followed all the rules for svrt but still it is not kicking in

Hello
I am having some problems with Intelligent SVRT recognising the footage from my Sanyo Xacti VPC-SH1 and therefore save time on rendering
The footage is H.264 AVC MP4
When I go to produce and press Intelligent SVRT the box opens and it suggests a profile which I have created under the MP4 tab, however the writing in the box is all in red and the Apply button is not highlighted so I have to add this manually.
The SVRT button at the bottom of the screen is also greyed out when I use the suggested profile settings
Using the Show SVRT Track option under the Edit heading all the videos are highlighted red as well and this is the raw footage with no transitions or alterations.
have made sure the TV aspect match and also have tried the "Allow SVRT on single IDR H.264 video" option ticked and unticked
I have quite a few large files so using the SVRT option will be very beneficial
I've included a sample clip I have just recorded.
Any pointers or advice will be most appreciated

Thanks everyone for all your responses after a lot of head scratching I seem to have found a working solution.
My DV files were type 2 and Powerdirector only seems to like type 1. I have used DVDate to convert to type 1 and I can now use svrt to recognise and produce to AVI with no blocks.
Another problem I am having now is my footage from my Sanyo Xacti HD camera in SVRT but I will start a new post.
Thanks again

Thanks Ill have a look at that tonight, didnt think of that, so fingers crossed
My current line of thought is to try and get a decent copy back to AVI then use Handbrake to produce a MP4 to view on the tv

Many thanks for your replies
I had another play around with different settings last night and I must admit I am not impressed with the quality of output on PD11 compared to my old Pinnacle Studio 15 software
I even tried re producing back to AVI which I assumed would be the same quality however I am getting noticeable "Blocky" Video
I am really disappointed as I have found the actual editing and effects of PD11 to be excellent compared to my old software, but the quality of the movies produced are far superior on Pinnacle

HI
Did you ever get any resolution over this as i am having the exact same problems of blocky artifacts when re encoding to avi?
I really like the PD11 program for editing and effects, but the actual production quality is far inferior to other editing software.

Thanks again for your replys
The footage is all SD

Thanks for thr response Michael
I have tried the Mpeg 2 but must admit i can see quite a bit of a degrade in quality from the original footage hence why i was trying the MP4 route

Hi i wonder if anyone can give me advice.
I have finally got round to backing up over 50 mini dv tapes onto a new hard drive in the Dv avi format. I am now looking at editing them into some home movies and make the kids laugh.
The footage is mainly in 4:3 with some of the newer ones shot in 16:9
Can anyone suggest a format to produce the final movie into that i can ideally just watch straight onto my HD TV through a hard drive or streamed from PC. The TV supports most formats accept ironically AVI
I have tried the standard PD11 settings for Mp4 and H264 avc which has produced poor results with grainy footage and jagged lines. The H264 also doesnt seem to play very well on the tv
I have tried to alter the settings, but every time i go to produce the program crashes and a warning that the display driver has unexpectantly stopped working message appears
Any Help would be gratefully received

Hi Carl Thanks again for the reply
I have just tried what you have suggested and managed to separate the video form audio, however Wave editor will still not open, even when just highlighting the audio only. Power Director definitely seems to have a problem with my DV footage
|
|
Thanks Carl
One of the issues i am having is not being able to open Wave Editor for My DV-AVI files, but thanks for the advice
|
|
Thanks Dafydd I agree wouldnt normally use these affects, but the footage i am editing seems to work well.
I have now after a bit more experimenting worked out that i am only having problems in dv Avi footage it works fine on other formats, ive even tried a very small avi file thinking it might have something to do with the large size of uncompressed AVI, but still having the same time issues which leads me to believe this must be a problem with the actual software. I also cannot seem to be able to open Wave editor on AVI files either but it opens fine on MPG or MP4 Files
Has anyone alse had problems with using DV AVI footage?

Hi I Have been using the trial version of Powerdirector 11 for a few days now and currently working on a video editing project of some old dv footage which has a lot of background wind noise.I am using the audio denoise feature under fix/enhance option to try and minimise this.
The actual file i am using is an hour long dv Avi file and i have detected scenes so as to make it easier to edit.
The problem i am having is that when i select the scenes that i want to reduce the wind noise on, the time it takes to analize seems to take forever (about 1 - 2 min for a 30sec clip) Is this normal or are there any settings that i can change to make it run smoother?
My system is a i5 2500k processer with 8gb ram and 7200rpm speed hard drive, so should be up to the task
I have looked at some videos on you tube and the analizing seems to be almost instantaneous and that is on a larger clip
I am really enjoying this product at the moment, but this annoyance is really slowing me down and is putting me off of buying the full product
Any help gratefully received
