I have been waiting for a response from cyberlink support for 4 days now. How long does one have to wait for some sort of response? It is Ticket ID: CS001010993.

I'm certainly not going to buy a phone support package just to call and ask why my support request has not yet been answered.

IE9 broke PDVD10 for me also. Not knowing at the time it was IE9 I decided to uninstall PDVD10 and re-install it. I've done that a number of time before as PDVD10 seems to break every so often when upgrading something in Windows and re-installing it usually fixes it.

I tried to re-install PDVD10 but as I bought it as an upgrade from PDVD9, the installer I have wouldn't run withouth installing 9 first. So I tried to install 9 (which I also have a license key for) but it tells me that I have used the license key too many times and won't work. So I can't re-install 10 because I can't re-install 9 so I was without a player.

I submitted a support request but have not heard back for the last 48 hours.

In the meantime I tried PDVD11 trial version. It works fine with IE9 but unfortunately, through Windows Media Center it has a bug and the playback keys (fast forward, rewind, stop, next chapter etc.) do not work with the remote.

What a mess and nothing seems to be forthcoming from Cyberlink either to my support requests or in the way of a patch.

I certainly won't buy a product that doesn't support the Windows Media Center remote control for playback. I hate to go through the hassle of uninstalling IE9 even if I do finally get a response from support about how to install my legally purchased copy of either PDVD9 or PDVD10.

I also have the same problem with the standard Windows Media Center remote when using PDVD11 (Trial Version) through Windows Media Center (64-bit Home Premium). It definitely worked in all previous version of PDVD back to 8. I won't be upgrading until this is fixed for sure.

I'm having this very same problem. Was any solution ever found?
When I put a DVD in my drive with Vista Media Center running I get a screen that asks whether I want to play the DVD with Media Center or with PowerDVD. I always pick PowerDVD and the DVD plays fine. Is there any way to stop Media Center from asking this question and going right to PowerDVD?
They are without a doubt the worst support ever. I'm having playback problems via media center and basically there reply is they don't support media center. Don't they even know their own products features?

Look at this recent ticket.

I put a DVD in my DVD drive. Vista Media Center prompts me with a questions to either "Play in Media Center" or "Play in PowerDVD". I select PowerDVD and the media center version seems to launch fine. But when it tries to play the movie the screen is black and there's no sound other than the occassional burst of grabled sound and an occassional flash of the movie.

Oddly if I get back to the PowerDVD menu the Chapters view works fine showing thumbnails but selecting one of them goes back to a blank screen.

The same DVD plays fine in PowerDVD 9 outside of media center. It also plays fine within media center not using PowerDVD 9.

Blu-Ray works wonderfully both inside and outside media center.

The upscaling in PowerDVD 9 is so amazing I would really love to get it working for regular DVDs. "

The Replied:
"Dear Joel,

Thank you for contacting CyberLink Technical Support.

We understand your concern related with PowerDVD playback issue.

Please note that you can use the PowerDVD software inside the Media Center however, if you did then it will create conflict because in every software there is decoding to co-exist with another software or version however, in PowerDVD there is no option available to use.

We request you to please launch the PowerDVD manually from Start-up to play the DVD.

"You answer makes no sense to me.

You say that PowerDVD is supported within Media Center. It does install itself in Media Center and gives the option for you to play the DVD within Media Center. Then you say even though it is there you need to play the DVD outside of Media Center.

This is not a solution. A feature of the software as advertised is not working.

If you think it is caused by a conflict what can be done to track it down? "

They replied.
"Dear Joel,

Thank you for writing back.

Please note that you can not use PowerDVD in the Media Center this feature is not available.

I am having a problem playing DVDs from within Vista Media Center.

So, I insert a disk and Vista Media Center comes up with a choice to "Play with Media Center" or "Play with PowerDVD". Select PowerDVD launches the Media Center add-in fine but the movie just won't play. It gives me a black screen and intermittent bursts of garbled sound. Oddly, the Chapters feature works nicely giving the Fancyview of thumbnails. Selecting goes back to a black screen though.

Any hints?
When playing a blu-ray PowerDVD 9 turns hardware acceleration on automatically.

If you then play a DVD it remains turned on. So I manually set it to off in order to use the new True Theater features.

Then I played another blu-ray and it turned hardware acceleration on again. OK fine. It needs it for blu-ray.

Then playing another DVD it leaves it on so again I have to manually set it to off.

Am I missing something or is this a bug.
I'm having no problems with .iso's loaded with VCD. It plays fine for me. Maybe you need and updated version of VCD.
Does anyone know what colorspace (0-255 vs 16-235) PowerDVD8 Ultra outputs via HDMI for blu-ray playback?
