Quote: Thanks for that informative and helpful feedback about the driver issue d_mat.Just a note Catalyst 15.7 is the only version of the AMD graphics driver I know of that is compatible with Windows 10, so if you are going to upgrade Windows you might need this latest driver. Thanks again.

This is only a Technical Preview driver. The official AMD driver for Windows 10 will be released on the 29th:

This Technical Preview driver for Windows® 10 is provided "As Is". Please note, some features have been disabled in this preview driver. The official AMD driver offering full feature set support will be made available when Windows® 10 officially launches on July 29th, 2015.

Quote: Yes, I upgraded my AMD graphics driver to 15.7 and got heavy stuttering too. Like you I turned off TrueTheater Video Enhancement and now it works fine. I made sure I had hardware acceleration switched on after turning off video enhancement.

I wonder which product is not working correctly? PowerDVD or the driver.

It's the driver. If you check the "known issues" for that driver, there is an issue with PowerDVD.

I had the Beta drivers at one point a couple of months ago but it would not let me play 3D BD in 3D. So I reverted back to Omega drivers and I got 3D working. I am able to use all of the video enhancements such as TrueTheater, etc.
I had the same problem.

Everything worked fine. Then I updated the AMD SATA Controller and AMD SMBus drivers and PowerDVD started to stutter.

After I reverted back to the previous drivers, everything worked perfectly.
Quote: I recently purchased PowerDVD 15 Ultra and I am quite happy with it. However, the TrueTheater enhancements are a huge disappointment--video and audio. My Titanic Blu-ray has muddy sound and the video is grainy to the point that it is unwatchable. I turned both enhancements off completely and found the quality to improve dramatically.

Is this normal? I expected phenomenal improvements from these enhancements, not a decline in video and audio quality. Perhaps a more informed user can help me in deciphering these features?

On another note, what are the best settings to use overall for PowerDVD in terms of Blu-ray playback? Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

Seems like you over did the TrueTheatre settings. For blu rays, if you set TrueTheatre HD to about 25% and TrueTheatre Lighting to 50%, the results are exceptional. Much sharper image. Looks like the resolution is increased from 1080p to 2K. I am very happy with the results.

Grain is normal for any blu ray, because movies are shot on film and film is grainy.

Just try the aforementioned settings and see if it looks any better.
I had 3D playback issues too. I have an AMD graphics card. I reverted to a previous graphics driver and it fixed everything. You might want to try that.
Well I finally got 3D blu ray to work in PowerDVD 14. I reverted back to the Omega (14.12) AMD drivers.

So for anyone else reading who is having the same issue, the Beta drivers do not work very well with PowerDVD.
Quote: Hi,
suggest you get in contact with technical Support Team to narrow down the config and possible root cause.

I have. They replied to my first message but the issue wasn't resolved so I sent them another one. I have still yet to hear back from them.
Quote: Hi,
did you try to connect to the external Display only?
in Win 8 you can Change Output mode by Windows+P

br
Michael

Yes, I did it through AMD Catalyst Control Center. I disabled the desktop display and conntected to my 3DTV only. Still doesn't work.

I also ripped the 3D Blu Ray in MKV format. I downloaded TriDef and played the file in the TriDef mediaplayer (the player can't play blu rays in 3D) and I actually got the 3D file working. My TV automatically turned on its 3D mode as usual and I was able to use my active glasses.

PowerDVD won't play the MKV file in 3D. It can play it only in 2D.

So I am assuming it's PowerDVD that is causing the problem.
I downloaded this update for PowerDVD 10 before I upgraded to PowerDVD 14 Ultra. I didn't experience any issues.

Are you sure you downloaded the correct file? I think there may be one for retail version and a different one for the online version.

I ran BD-3D Advisor again with my laptop connected to my TV via HDMI and now it says that HDMI 1.4a Stereo is supported. So now I am really not sure why it does not work.

Yeah, not sure why that is. AMD says the video card supports HD3D.
I ran the BD-3D Advisor and it says my system is capable of playing 3D blu rays. Anaglyph 3D works on my laptop's display. But when I connect my laptop to my TV via HDMI, PowerDVD detects my HDMI 1.4 3D TV but when I turn 3D mode on, the screen goes blank and I get a message saying that there are multiple displays and that I need to change the 3D mode.

Any way to fix this?

Operating system is Windows 8.1 btw.
