forum...
In one of the replies (above), it's suggested that "The capture must be done with "acquisition with DV camera" and not with AVCHD."
Could you please elaborate as to what "acquisition with DV camera" means and / or what I need to set / adjust in Powerdirector in order for it to recognize my CamCorder?
Thanks to All!

...Yes Fenman, I have, there are no updates for my model CamCorder.

Hello Fenman, and thanks for replying!
The SONY software that cam with the Camcorder is not supported in Windows 7...

Thank you Bonagege for replying...
I'm not sure I know what setting / parameter you refer to in your reply. Could you please elaborate as to what i need to set / adjust in Powerdirector in order for it to recognize my CamCorder?
Thanks Again!

...Thanks for your reply Neil!
You are correct, the camcorder records to a digital tape. I have though about transferring the data via analog connect, but I would like to utilize the i-LINK feature especially since it has worked w/ PowerDirector in the past. As I mention in my post, PowerDirector seems to detect the device in that the AVCHD option is selectable in the CApture mode. Once selected, nothing appears in the capture window...

Hello Forum,
My problem is this; I have a SONY DRC-TRV22 HandyCam connected to my system via IEEE 1394 (FireWire). When I open PowerDirector and select on Capture, the camcorder option (image) highlights, as if PowerDirector recognizes the device, but nothing else happens. Typically, using the i-LINK (IEEE) feature of the camcorder in ‘Capture’ mode, a screen representing the camcorder functions (eg. Play, Forward, Rewind, Pause, etc.) would display and function as those on the camcorder. Given this, I could then download / record my video & images from the camcorder to PowerDirector. My OS is Windows 7 (64 bit) Home Premium. I know that there are no drivers in Win 7 for my camcorder however, the i-LINK (IEEE) connection (given all that I have read on various forums) does work.
Has anyone had a similar experience interfacing a camcorder w/ PowerDirector and if so, were you able to correct the problem?
Thanks to All!

Hello Forum,
I have followed the suggested links and read the solutions posted. The majority of these ‘solutions’ do not pertain to my problem; eg. “Inserted disc is damaged”, Size of data to be burned exceeds free disc space”, “Compatibility between burner & disc”, etc. My code is up to date with the latest CyberLink updates. As for using the CyberLink software “Power2Go Essential” as a burning alternative, the application does not offer a BluRay burn option, only DVD. I have split the file in half to eliminate the possibility of trying to burn too large a file. I even produced a MPEG-2 file (using PD) of my data, still will not complete a burn. PowerDirector gets to about 85% done before it stops with the error “eEB191087”.
I am at the point where I believe that CyberLink /PowerDirector does not function as advertised. We’re not sending a satellite into orbit, we’re simply burning a file (generated by PowerDirector) to a disc! I would think that CyberLink would look into some of these Forum posts and fix their code, instead of relying on member solutions / workarounds and / or having to purchase newer versions of their product!

Hello Forum,
I have been unsuccessful in several attempts to burn video to a BluRay (RW) disc. I get the error:
“Burning Unsuccessful
Error Code eEB191087
Description:\r\n
Burning Not Complete”
I am running Power Director 9 Ultra 64 on a Windows 7, 64 bit OS. Any help will be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks!

...Thanks Carl, I'll check my PD settings but I believe that I'm using the DVD HQ bur to DVD setting.

Carl, I too was concerned about my source data, but after converting the same MPEG2 file with another conversion / burn program, the video quality was noticeably better than that of PD9’s output. That’s why I’m wondering if I need to ‘massage’ the raw MPEG2 data I captured in PD prior to burning the file. As a matter of fact, the other conversion / burn software was freeware, a much less sophisticated program than PD.
I’m hoping that the current PD build I have installed (3305) is not the cause of the poor video quality as per Fenman’s comment in my audio post, “I note he is using build 3305 and you may recall from an old thread that I experienced problems with the build 3305 patch that ruined my video”.

..neither did I Carl, but it did seem to work. As you mention, the only way I knew how to reset the LG was to unplug the unit.

First, I want to thank those that have participated in trying to resolve my audio issue. Last night I burned a DVD from another program software then tried playing it through the LG player. The end result was once again, no audio (however, the picture quality was far better than PD9). After trying various audio settings on the LG player, I finally gave up and called LG support. They suggested that I reset the player by simply disconnecting the HDMI cord from both the player & TV and leave it disconnected for at least 30 seconds. I reconnected the cord, turned the TV on first, then the player. Inserted the DVD and finally, audio!!
Looks like the problem was in the player and not PD9 al though I haven’t tried a DVD created in PD9 but I will soon. Thanks again for all of your help & support on this matter!!

By using the MPEG2 capture option to capture video (w/ default settings), then burning the file using the DVD option, the resultant video quality is less than DVD grade, actually, it’s lousy. Do I need to use the ‘Produce’ function to clean up the video before burning the DVD, if so, what settings would you recommend?
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

I changed the LG player’s Audio to the 'PCM Multi-Ch' setting, but still no sound. Carl, you mention, “connect this unit’s HDMI OUT jack to a device with multi-channel digital decoder”. I’m not sure just what you’re referring to but the LG unit is just connected via HDMI to a LG HD flat screen TV, not any decoding device …any further suggestions? Do I need to modify the original MPEG2 file (in the ‘Produce’ function) prior to burning to disc?
Thanks again for any suggestions!
|
|
....Thanks again Carl, I'll check that setting today, but if I recall, I believe I already have the audio set to 'PCM Multi-Ch'.
|
|
Thanks Carl for your response!
And Yes, the LG player is connected via HDMI. I will go back and check the ‘settings’ however, other DVD’s created / burned with different software (other than PD) play just fine. Tell me, are there any special settings in the HDMI settings menu I should be aware of?

I am using PowerDirector 9, build 3305 on Widows 7 (64 bit) OS. When I Capure video and burn it to DVD disc, using the standard MPEG2 settings, I get no sound when playing the DVD back through my LG BD670 Video Blu Ray Player. The following are the Audio Specs for this player.
•Digital/Analog Conversion: 192KHz/24bit
•Signal/Noise Ratio: 100+ dB
•LPCM
•2ch Down Mix
•Dolby® Digital
•Dolby® Digital Plus
•Dolby® TrueHD
•DTS™
•DTS-HD Master Audio
From the list of available audio formats in the Burn operation of PowerDirector, I don't see why this is happening. By the way, I can play the same DVD I burned in PowerDirector on my Toshiba DVD player and the audio is present, but the video is terrible.
Has anyone else expierienced this problem, can anyone suggest a solution to this problem? ...Thanks in advance!!

...Thanks again Carl and Fenman for your time & help!
I'll keep plugging away for now, if I run into any further dilemmas, I'll be sure to post them here, again Thanks!

Hello Carl, and thank you for responding to my concern!
I will do my best to answer your questions;
What format are you choosing for your capture file? MPEG-2
I must ask what is the quality level of your DVR, is it High Definition or Standard Definition. Standard Definition, best I can tell
Are you converting Video Tape? No, To DVD Media
I assume that since you use the term DVR you have a satellite receiver that you want to burn a DVD of the Videos. Yes, I have a Cable DVR
You want to capture in as near the same format as possible to minimize the quality loss; Since PowerDirector allows me a choice of three import formats (eg. MPEG-1, MPEG=2, and AVI), I was informed earlier that MPEG-2 was basically DVD quality, where as MPEG-1 was of lesser quality, and that AVI was the best quality, and also the largest format.
Since this post, I burned a DVD from just the imported MPEG-2 file I captured from the DVR. The program was an hour long. I used the DVD / SP burn option (since the HQ option would not fit on the disc). All seemed to go well, the DVD played back fine on my laptop but when I tried playing it on the DVD player, there was no sound.
I then took the imported file and opened the Produce 'room'. There I selected the MPEG-2 option and let it run. Once complete, I burned that file using the same burn settings as before and wala, ther was sound on both the laptop & DVD player.
Carl, do you have any idea as to why that happened? Will I have to go through the 'Produce / MPEG-2' process for each downloaded file?
Also, I've been made aware that the 'Smart Fit' burn optionn will shrink a file to fit a given media, therefore degrading the quality. However, I noticed that this option will also extend a file to better fit a given media selection. Does this mean Smart Fit is enhancing the quality of the file?
Thanks Again for your help!
