its taking a while so maybe in 30 minutes

yeap that i can do - its when I try to create a disk it crashes
fist get real slow about 70 % then moves to 94% and thats it - I dont actually get to the create disk page its still trying to load the page,
i will reboot and try to capture a video of the issues

hi Neil - it does not even get tothat level
This is hte simplest way to re create the event
start a new project - no media on time line or in libary (have tried with media in libar and on time line no change)
click on create disk
PD tries to load the create disk page (initializing module) but only gets to 94%
I cant use task manager to kill it as the process is hung and cant be killed without a reboot
Very frustrating
|
|
the program hangs -
the project is empty- or just 1 - 10 clips (10 min long) it does not matter I can not simpley get to the create disk function- (ie the menu item tab or what ever
So the type of disk etc, is not the problem as i dont get that far.

oh yes here's the debug file
I am on a dell XPS, 8GB ram 2TBhard drive - but as i say this machine has always been able to burn before - even with PD 11

hi all - I have been using PD since version 8,and get a lot jsut reading the forumns
this lsat 3 weeks I have hit the wall- PD will not create a disk - I have been able to do this prior; I cant even get to the create disk menu (it always stops at 94%) even with an empty project.
Has any one hit this one?
I am under the pump now as I am doing my brothers Wedding video (transfered from VHs) re edited as it is all amateur footage, a a christmas / wedding anniversay gift.
I have put in 50 hours I cna proof the out put on computer or apple TV - but really need to get it on to DVD (yes I can work around but thats not the point)
Why as it jsut stopped??

I think I understand what you mean - if your shooting on a green screen back ground why not just use chroma key? this will render tha back ground essentialy transparnt
|
|
power point has the option to save each slide as a picture, this will give you the best resloution rather than screenshots, you cold then use chroma key to cut out the back ground, and stretch to make the picture fit the screen

I too use the multiple project approach (combing the outputed videos in to a master project)
So a holiday might look like
Part 1 day1, day 2, ------
Part 2 day 1, day2, day 3 -----
etc
I did this for recent Alaska trip and by using PDt his way, I was easily able to update protions of the overall project and re mux the master - This has probably been the easist way I have found, to make changes to long (21 day trip) project
I foud that by producing each part seperatly and when updating producing and over writting the original file the master proejct was also updated (except if I made it longer grrr) this meant i could produce a draft of each chapter, have the wife proof the content while i move on then go back update the first project and have the changes carried through to the master version
|
|
sure go to the page about the compitition and there are some examples posted -
|
|
go to power tools and video speed this will allow you to set the length you want the clip to play for - (I ahve used it in reverse - took a 10 minute walk around a cruise ship reduced to 1 minute) using it to slow the clip is the sme process

have tried changing my output and input folders to no avail ---
Tech support have responded by telling me how to save a template, using the same method i have already done -- I am sending them some screen shots, and a short tiny movie see if they can shed light on this
|
|
no the question is far from insulting, not something I had thought of
I tend to have the output set to the project I am working on eg d:\NY_project\output... that way all my project files, edits, and the million things PD saves end up in hte project and can be safely archived to longer term storage after I finish.
I will set it to the default tonight and see what happens.
Thinking about it last night, When I instyalled PD 9 I was suprised to the lack of objects in the titles area (despite getting the creative packs) - so this may well be an issue form day 1.

|
bizzare -- created the folders manually they dont appear anywhere i can see on my system..
tested create a new title add picture, and a few words, click save - picture disapears, tmeplate not saved
Guess its going to be upto support
|
|
James can you tell me which are where?
I have logged a support email - but trying to work through it before I get old lol - and I would like to be able to save my custom stuff
|
|
Perfect - exactly what i wanted -- thank you
None of these folders are anywhere on my system - my install was conducted with the folder redirection in place, so htey nover got created - interestingly no errors happened....
I will create them manually and see what happens..

|
no joy on this so far - but I may be missing some pre set folders
I created c:\users\chris\documents\powerdirector\9.0
nothing was saved - this should work if its hard coded:
could some one paste a screen shot of thier folder set up including all sub folders - i will maually replaicte it and try again
Chris

I agree - I do some pretty big works, and always break them into sub movies / projects- then recompile into a master movie at the end (makes edits easier as well)
I have a directory set up that i use for each projects, this contains my intro movie, etc. I jsut copy and rename at each use
|
|
yes it appears that it is using hardcoded folder names - as a test I will create the corect path under users - and see if it works - this may well be a "neat" work around.
I will publish the outcome (positive or negative) early next week

Thanks I wil lgive it a try

I tend to use Adobe CS5 Falsh and export as a movie - gives great resolution, and has some good features, but it is a bit pricey
