Missing something (My Customised anything)

hi all- after much research I am forced to ask waht many will think is a silly question.
Powerdirector instructions, clearly state that you can customise a Title and save it for reuse-- My issue is I can't do this.
first my installation is on windows 7 (a core 7 machine) all fully patched - I use a network for my documents folder (NAS002\my documents\) My user profile is on the local C:drive and all video editing is on a local D drive (partition of the logical drive)
The program works really well and I am very happy with it, but I would like to be able to create my own templates and use them -
I have tried sharing with the power director site - nada -
the proces I have used is like this
Create a new title - add a graphic, add some text, click on save enter file name (say CT_custom) - the system goes away, and returns me to power director - no customised item.
A complete search of my computer, home network for any file name matches comes back empty... This is a tad frustrating and I am sure its a user fault, but damned if I know what I am doing wrong
Any help out htere please

PS I have worked through the example in hte manual for a custom particle effect, followed each step, and still nothing

Hi Chris

Welcome to the forum

I'm pretty sure we can find a solution for you.

1. To create a custom Title WITH a graphic

Insert text > double click - this opens up the Title Designer - next to the Save button is a rectangle with stars on it - insert your graphic file here > then save.

2. In the Title Room select Custom (top left) to see file.

This process can also be done in the PIP library as well.

Your custom files should be filed in C>Users>Documents>Cyberlink>PowerDirector>9.0>MyTitles>Followed by a Title template number - this can be viewed as an icon my adjusting windows.

Hope this helps

Happy editing

Hi Chris -

The network Documents folder may be the problem???

There was a bit of a discussion about this recently http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/18725.page

Just to add a note>

Exporting a project doesn't save the titles' fonts necessarily or if an insertion (image) has been made.

Fonts issue: PD6 to PD8 revealed the fonts had been renamed. I recall Adrian having a problem with his video intro.
Image issue: When a Title is saved as a custom build and has inserts the folder will contain the saved data.
Custom Titles are not saved as part of the Exported project.

When Exporting a project for long term storage I always pick up the Custom Titles as well. I have advised CL of this some time ago.

While the above does not answer your issue (there isn't one) it may be of help to you and others.

yes it appears that it is using hardcoded folder names - as a test I will create the corect path under users - and see if it works - this may well be a "neat" work around.
I will publish the outcome (positive or negative) early next week

nothing was saved - this should work if its hard coded:
could some one paste a screen shot of thier folder set up including all sub folders - i will maually replaicte it and try again

Hi Chris -

That folder is generated when PD is installed. I'm stumped that it isn't present!

In the image, I've crossed out sub-folders added by my own actions (i.e. not default)

To find whether it's present anywhere on your system, try doing a search for (say) "MyPinPs"

Perfect - exactly what i wanted -- thank you
None of these folders are anywhere on my system - my install was conducted with the folder redirection in place, so htey nover got created - interestingly no errors happened....
I will create them manually and see what happens..

Hi,
I believe that on a windows 7 Premium 64bit some of the files 'Common' are under program (x86) directory (32bit) and some are stored in the Program file directories cyberlink etc for 64Bit files. Intel i7-2600@3.4Gz Geforce 560ti-1GB Graphic accelerator, windows 7 Premium 12GB memory

Hi Chris,
I can't really help you there as I upgraded my computer system and had to get cyberlink to send me new links to obtain my registered programs and some of the older 'bonus' stuff and stuff I had modified I had to re-do.
On the main drive C:\Program Files\cyberlink..there should be the 64bit 'stuff' and on CProgram Files (x86)\Cyberlink\..... this is where cyberlink's 32 bit programs reside...both these have a cyberlink folder pertaining to PowerProducer, PowerDVD 10 etc the cyberlinks 32bit programs. also a Common folder that may contain modified and downloaded templates.
I hope this helps, you may have to snoop around within these areas. I can't really say this is the way windows 7 64Bit version arranges its structure as when I upgrade my system I thought I had made backups of the programs I had purchased on an external drive but I had the download links that were redundant so had to contact support and re-download the programs I use most but I didn't get the 'content' packs that were bundled originally. Also on your C:\drive ..'user'
there is your personal Cyberlink folder (if you are the only user of the computer) in the C:\ ..user directory...Hope this helps
Jim

Hmmm -

Chris - in Preferences - is the folder you created C:\Users\xxxx\Documents\CyberLink\PowerDirector\9.0 set as the export destination?

Sorry if that question sounds insulting.

Hi Chris,

Are you running PD9 on your PC as the Administrator?

Looking through this thread I couldn't see (and I skim read) anyone suggesting you uninstalled, re-installed PD9.

Please do so.

I use the Control Panel route when I uninstall, as it allows me to clear out all data.
PowerDirector
Contents pack
Wave editor
PhotoNow
etc.

The alternative is to use the method described here: http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/15688.page

Please advise on whether you are operating PD9 as the administrator.

no the question is far from insulting, not something I had thought of
I tend to have the output set to the project I am working on eg d:\NY_project\output... that way all my project files, edits, and the million things PD saves end up in hte project and can be safely archived to longer term storage after I finish.
I will set it to the default tonight and see what happens.
Thinking about it last night, When I instyalled PD 9 I was suprised to the lack of objects in the titles area (despite getting the creative packs) - so this may well be an issue form day 1.

have tried changing my output and input folders to no avail ---
Tech support have responded by telling me how to save a template, using the same method i have already done -- I am sending them some screen shots, and a short tiny movie see if they can shed light on this Chris Tayler
