I wonder if it has anything to do with dropping hi-res HD/Wide-screen video into 4:3 TV ratio project? I did not have this issue previously in PD 10 and in PD 11 when I was using lower-res web-cam.

Bubba
The audio is out of sync with the video once I place the video in the Timeline. Things are fine (i.e. together) when I capture via web-cam, and fine when I play the clip from the Library. It's when I slide the video into the Timeline that it plays slightly out of sync. ???????

Bubba
Thanks, again, Carl!

Bubba
Thanks, Carl! I will experiment with your suggestions as well as visit the link you provided. I used "stretched" the photos on the track, and it worked better on some while distorting others. Your way sounds better in that it can contribute to the visual theme and feel of the video.

For my project, I will then have 3 video tracks, 1 audio track and 1 Music Track. How should I arrange/overlay them: The "background" track, the captured video with accompanying audio track, the Slides/Photos Track and the Music Track?

Bubba
Can I set a Background to fill out those slides/frames/clips that are smaller than my video frames and thereby let portions on my recorded video show-through around the slide?

Bubba
Reviewing my questions/issues and saw this one still open: I resolved my original sound issue by (a) recognizing that the web-cam wasn't picking up audio because (b) the "setting" in the capture mode wasn't set to me web-cam audio. Once I made that adjustment, the missing audio issue was solved.

Sorry, I didn't post to this question, but to the other one, even though this was my initial inquiry.

Thanks!

Bubba
Sorry I've been absent. But while I was on vacation, I downloaded the trial version of PD11 and discovered what I was doing wrong. You both were right from the start . . . it was a setting in the capture mode that was set for cd audio input rather than the camera audio. If you guys hadn't seared into my brain that it had to be a "setting", I wouldn't have resolved it.

Thanks! Thanks! Thanks!

Now, it's on to figuring out how to mix multiple slide, video and audio inputs to create a smooth flow of the visual over multiple audio/music tracks.

The Other Bubba
Web-cam capture gives me the video but not the audio from the Microsoft Life-Cam. Is there an obvious problem? I had no problem capturing both video and audio in Windows Movie Maker.

Bubba
Good Point! I am using a web-cam. I can check to see if cam has built-in mike -- I doubt it. If the web-cam doesn't, can I get PowerDirector to capture both, together?
Finally got around to testing my video capture from within PowerDirector 10 and found that it captured the video but not the audio. No wonder my audio track could not be heard.

Is that because I am trying out a trial version?

I'll try to import a video that I know has audio to see how that goes. When I've tried that before, however, I ran into compatibility issues.
No, I do not see a wave form , and, the audio does not play at all. I tried to have the video/audio play separately, from within the media viewer, but still no audio. I'm wondering if the webcam capture picked up the audio in the first palce, even though I don't know why it wouldn't.

Here, shortly, I think I'll try to "capture" some web-cam video again to test it.
I captured video with my web-cam to put on Video/Audio Track 2. But when I try to play, I can only hear the music from the movie track. Plus, the video on the second track over-rides the Slide-show on Video track 1. So I have the video from Track 2 with no audio but over-riding the video on Track 1. I tried making adjustments in the audio mixing room without progress.

I did notice a column of white dots in the space between the left column and the Timeline. What does that indicate?
