I think it will be helpful if you can provide your PDR version.
Menu -> Help -> About CyberLink PowerDirector
At the right side of about dialog, you can find something like "PowerDirector 5.00 1816 Premium"

And the error is shown when you trying to open a PDS file or launch PDR?

You can set the duration manually.
Click the Preference button at the left-bottom of Create Disc page.
Then set the duration you want.
Just remind, the DVD menu is also a clip.
That means the longer duration for DVD menu, the less duration for your title.
I think you did not uncheck the Motion menu function.
The default setting seem always on.
You can close it in the setting room. (At the left-bottom side of Created Disc page)
But as I know, the music will be cut to 10 second if you use still thumbnail.
To work around this issue, maybe you can enable the motion menu then try to set the duration of motion menu.
I'm a little confused.
The Everio is a hard drive camcorder, so I don't think your issue is related with how it connect to your PC.
PowerDirector can't capture anything from the Everio camcorder.
You can only import the clip.

1. I think it will be better if you can copy the clips from Everio to your PC before you doing anything.
2. Then you can import the clips to PowerDirector and merge them in Timeline.
3. Produce the project to a file or MOD format if you want copy back to Everio camcorder.

BTW, the MOD clip is almost the same with MPEG2.
So you can try to modify the extensions from mod to mpg.
Then it might be able to be recognized by other software.
Quote: Ive used WMM for ages, but the divx problem annoyed the hell outta me.
So im trying this, I had a video which when made using WMM comes out as 856x480.

When imported and produced using this it come out at 720x400.
and has black edge on all sides, i really just want a full screen no black edges.

I don't have the clip you use, so I have no idea why the program recognize the wrong resolution.
But if you just want to produce a full screen clip, maybe this can help you. (PDR5 only)
1. Right click the clip in timeline then select Set Aspect Ratio
2. Select Neither 4:3 nor 16:9
3. You can set to Stretch the clip to 4:3 or 16:9 (Depend on your project)

Hope this can help you
In my experience, the failed reason might be:

1.AP conflict issue, try to re-install PDR again.
2.ODD issue, try to use other drive to capture ACD.
3.Audio driver issue, update the audio drive form H/W vender website.

BTW, the version that I used is PDR5 Premium 1808.
Wish this can help you. :-D
