After several months of no longer being able to use Adobe Prem El 14 on my laptop I am thinking of switching to Power Director
Have any of you made this switch in the past, and if so would appreciate your comments on the learning curve in using PD and other differences between the two video editors
Thanks for your help

My 4 year old Dell 14z W7 laptop crashed and I have to buy a new Windows 10 laptop to use with PD14
I am seeking recommendations from the community on what has worked for them as far as laptops they are successfuly
using to edit 4k videos I am not a pro but an avid hobbyist who uses a Lumix FZ1000 camera which captures 4k mp4's.
My old W7 using an i5 processor had difficulty in playing (stuttering) 4k vids.
I have heard that Windows 10 with an i7 processor is more 4k friendly.
Any help with my research on which laptop to buy would be greatly appreciated!

After reading much about 4k videos am considering purchasing the Lumix FZ1000.
I have experience in 1080p video editing but I am somewhat confused about the ability of the latest video editing programs like Power Director 14 to both edit AND output in 4K video.
Has anyone been able to edit and output edited 4K video files???
From what I've read many users find it more convenient to out put their edited video projects to 1080p
If you have created 4k edited files:
have you been able to view these finished 4k videos on your PC's??
What pc's (specs) are you using and are any special video cards needed?
I know 4k will become the new standard in a year or two but am wondering how 4k might be displayed on current standard laptop. & PC monitors
Thanks for your help!

I have been looking at the various video spec options included in the new Sony HXv9 listed below
HD (Dolby Digital Stereo) 50/60fps (EU/US)
AVC HD 28M (PS) - 28 Mbps/1920×1080 (60p/50p)
AVC HD 24M (FX) - 24 Mbps/1920×1080 (60i/50i)
AVC HD 17M (FH) - 17 Mbps/1920×1080 (60i/50i)
AVC HD 9M (HQ) - 9 Mbps/1440×1080 (60i/50i)
Can someone tell me what the real world viewing differences would be between video files shot at bitrates of 28 , 24, and 17.
All things being equal would the visual quality of the videos made at these Mbps be noticed if viewed on a 55" HDTV screen??
Thanks for your help

Robert,
thanks much for your input!
I am looking to buy it, I'm an old Studio 11 user. Pinnacle has not kept up to advancing technology,
I will update my drivers and download the trial as you suggested.
Thanks again

Dafydd-Thanks for your quick reply!
The camera's specs indicate (Sony Hxv9) it records at 28 Mbps using AVC HD or MPEG-4 AVC H.264 compression.
I have downloaded an uncompressed video file made by the digicam which is 728mb and 3min 50secs long.
Its file properties indicate it to be an AVCHD video (.MTS) file recorded by the camera at a 26549kbps. Thanks for your help.

It seems that there is a trend towards 1080p/60fps video as being the new standard
Has any PD user been able to confirm that PD9 can handle these videos??
Thanks for your help
I have a PC with an I7/920 processor using Windows 7
