Hi
Thanks for the response. I have tried other "joining" software and seem to have the same issue. I am not sure if the two files do not record all the necessary info so that the join is seemless.
I have raised a tech suppor question and await a response.
JAMES1, the two files are seemless due to it being one recording of 45 minutes. But as said the files split into two due tothe file restrictions on size.
JVC have no response to the issue as it is even difficult to speak to anyone at JVC who is in technical support. The best I got was to be told to speak to the software people who supplied the software that comes with the camers.
I am ever hopeful of finding a resolution other than the workaround I have.
In response tothe question asked about the vsync etc. this is to technical for me and I would not know how PD should be configured for this.

Hi
This was previously started on a different part of the Forum.
I also have JVC Everio HDD video cam. I would like to capture from the video cam due to the fact that when you go over the limit of the file size when recording to the cam, large files are split into smaller files. When you try and stitch them together in PD, any version, there is a small glitch at the join and the file is therefore not seemless and you get a hicup.
It would be good if PD could stitch the files together without this issue. I have tried many programmes to overcome this but none have worked. This is an issue with HD camcorders.
Let me explain a little bit more. I have a JVC high def digital camcorder. If I were to record video of 45 minutes in length, then the camera, due to file size restrictions, will split the video into two files. If recording as I usually do in hi-def then the files usually split at approx. 32 minutes and the second would be 13 minutes long. Now playing back the recording to the TV obviously plays the video seemlessly with no issues to audio or video from the camcorder.
However, when I the load the two files into PD, and this is for PD9,10,11, when you drag the files into the timeline and butt them together, i.e the end of one to the start of the other and playback either in PD or having made any type of file recording, there is a pause at the join. The playback is not seemless. If I had someone sining and turning at the same time, you would get a slight pause as the person turned and you would lose a few words of the song.
I discussed the issue with JVC in the first instance re file size and I am told that this is true of all digital camcorders and is down to the format of the SD card and file restriction. I checked this with other manufacters and they all said the same thing.
The only way around this I have found so far, is to copy the recording to a DVD via a recorder which then unfortunately records it as an Mpeg2 format therefore reducing the quality and then capturing the DVD into PD. No pause, playback is seemless due to the fact that it is all now one file.
If anyone has any ideas as to why or how to stop PD causing me the problem of joining the two files then it would be appreciated. This is why it would be nice if I could capture direct from the digital camcorder.

Hi Robert2 S
I note what you say but I thought that the cards listed were for use with Nvidas CUDA. Tech support in initial replies have not said anything about my graphics card being underpowered. When I purchased the software my pc including the graphics card meets the minimum requirements to run the software on the box.
At present I would just like it to open to even see what it is like.
Strange why Pinnacle studio 15 will run quite happily and PD9 won't even open.
thanks

Hi Dafydd
I read the requirements page and my pc meets all of the minimum requirements. Althought you may in the end say it is underpowered to carry out major editing and production, all I want is for the program to start so that I can see what I have purchased.
I do note that in my response to you in my own thread that unfortunately you are unable to shed any further light on why I cannot load PD9.
Tech support still have unanswered questions and they too appear to have given up.
It appears that PD9 is only for those that it actually works for and hence I have just lost money on a product that doesn't work.
Why post minimum requirements if the software doesn't run with them. It does seem from looking through the forum that this is a fairly common problem that doesn't appear to have an answer.

Hi
Sorry for butting in but I am having the same problem. I have posted at the link below but still have not found the answer from various responses on the forum.
http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/16367.page
I have e-mailed tech support who have been no help and also supplied the dxdia file which they have looked at but made no comment as to my machine being underpowered. I am curious if you guys think it is due to the comments re. graphics card etc. in the previous posts. graphic card drivers and quicktime have all been updated.
Any help would be good.
thanks

Hi Dafydd
The program purchased is PowerDirector 9 Deluxe. The version of pdr.exe is 9.0.0.2702. As a previous post I have now installed a trail version of Pinnacle Studio HD version 14 and it runs without issue therefore I am assuming that the pc is powerful enough to run PD9.
Any more thoughts?
I will be uninstalling and re-installing again later.
thanks

Hi Bubba
Yes I did check task manager, the .exe file opened in the process tab but no application opened as you say. All codecs as far as I know are up to date as are my video drivers. I have not yet tried running it without smartsound installed to see if it makes any difference. Yet another uninstall, re-install.

Hi SoftDeko
I have followed all your tips and the folowing is the result:-
1) Unable to tell you actual PD9 version since it will not run. However it is a retail version of PD9 purchased now over a week ago. Please note that I have reverted back to this version having completed yet another re-install following your notes. It should also be noted that prior to this I had installed the very latest patch from the website but still PD9 did not get passed the splash screen.
2) I attach the file rsmdxdiag.txt for you to review.
3) As said I uninstalled and re-installed as per Part C instructions.
In addition as I become more frustrated at my purchase not even opening, I have download and installed with no issues a trial version of Pinnacle Studio Ultimate version 14. This software runs with no problems.
Any thoughts on how to proceed?
thanks

Hi
Having purchased PD9, I have been trying for over a week to get PD9 to open. I have installed, un-installed, re-installed updated with latest patch and the software will not open. I have updated all video drivers etc. to latest versions with no joy.
On clicking the icon on my desktop I get a splash screen with a rotating swirl opening up. This sits there and the egg timer shows that the software is trying to open. After a few seconds the splash screen disappears and nothing happens, no PD9 no screens.
Any advice?
thanks
