No Jaime. I had to use a tool I found on the internet to delete one of the files. (Can't recall the name of it...but it deleted the file and shut down my computer...kinda scary)

I like making the projects in M4 due to ease of use on things like YouTube, but being stuck with them on my hard drive isn't a desirable side effect.

Noticed something weird. When I produce a project in the Mpeg 4 format, I'm not able to delete it from my hard drive. It always says "Access denied: Make sure the file is not write protected and that the file is not currently in use".

I even went so far as to delete quicktime from my computer thinking QT may be attached to it somehow. I'm guessing PD9 keeps it from being deleted somehow. I burned an AVI copy and those can be deleted no problem. Anything I'm missing?

1-good idea. Didn't think of that.

2-frustration is a terrible thing.

3-so far, so good. No big hangups so far.

4-I exported to the default folder (C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\CyberLink\PowerDirector\9.0) Later changed it to the "My Videos" folder to see if that would help...it didn't.

5-Excellent to hear. A "known issue" is way better than "Wow! Never heard of that one before! You've invented a problem! I think we'll name it after you!" I'm just using multiple tracks now to avoid editing on the same track as the longer clips.

Good news: Finally heard back from customer support today (I guess 9 days is normal).

Bad news: They somehow thought I have PD version 7 (I clearly stated which version I'm using...Power Director deluxe 9.0.0.2504) and seemed to be answering a question I didn't even ask. Tried to ask again but was not allowed to send an attached file (screenshot). So...thank god I found a workaround to my original problem. (mic works with every program on my computer EXCEPT PD9) Not really confident at this point I'll get an answer since I had to send a new query without the screenshot this time.

More bad news: Today I tried to take "snapshot" of a frame in a video and the program locked up after a couple of seconds. I figured...it happens...so I restarted and tried again. Another lock up. I then discovered there were "snapshot" files in the designated folder but they weren't able to be opened by any program. Not completed or something I'm guessing. I found that "freeze frame" does work. I suppose I can use that. I don't really like how that function splits and shifts everything on every track though. (Is there a way to keep it from doing that? I would rather it just effect the track I'm working on only.)

Even more bad news: Discovered an odd occurrence. After doing some editing on a particular track for a while, I noticed that the video and audio further down the track had been somehow misaligned. (see photo) I made sure to show that I did not Unlink Objects. They are still "linked"...they'll move together when you try to move them...but the audio and video aren't synced up anymore. Would love to know if I can avoid that. It's happened twice now.

Anyway if anyone knows anything about this issues I would appreciate the advice.

I put mine in last Saturday and no reply yet...that's cool though...good to know it's normal.

Still no word from customer support.

Found a workaround I think....in case anyone else runs across this problem.

I just started the clip I wanted to voice-over and ran "Audacity" (free program) along with it and recorded the voice part. I then just saved the audio file to the folder I'm using for PD9 and imported it into the session. Placed it on the voice-over track and Ta-da!

Couple of extra steps but it looks like it will work if I can't get the problem resolved.

Interesting Cranston, I don't even get an option for the "audio input" like you do. It's greyed out. Methinks that must be a part of the problem.

I did just get the mic to work in the "capture" room. I was able to set the volume slider all the way up and then it showed activity on the LED. I recorded a small test and it did record. But back in the edit room it was right back to where it was. Ah...well...worth a shot. Perhaps Cust support can help.

Well this is scary....no answer from customer support or the forums....is the problem unsolvable?

Did a search and didn't find anything, so forgive me if this is a common question.

Just bought PowerDirector 9.

Am trying to record a voice-over track for some video clips. I can't get the mic to work with PD9. I click on "device" and move the "input volume" slider up and click "ok". It then moves right back down to zero. (see attached photo) I'm also assuming I should see something on the indicator LED to the left but nothing appears when I talk into the mic. I tried to record but get nothing. I can hit "record" and it draws a yellow outlined box...but no sound records and the box disappears after I hit "stop".

The mic DOES work on other applications like Skype and on a Logictec webcam application.

I downloaded and installed the recent patch and it didn't help this problem. (CyberLink.2504_Patch_VDE101208-05)

The version I have is: Power Director deluxe 9.0.0.2504

Runing on Windows XP professional version 2002 service pack 3

C-Media sound card for the mic. (CM 6501)
NVidia GeForce 8800 GT video card.
