Patch has cleared up that audio glitch in PD9 with my ATC9K camera. Good job. Thanks. It's nice to beable to just edit the footage from the camera without running it through super. I have been using PD9 and it's a great product.

Mark Jones
Thanks for the reply. I am testing a Gopro I just got last night this morning. Taking video from my ATCK9 and the Gopro and comparing features. I was still having to convert the ATCK9 video using superconverter to get it to work but it was a work around. This update will be welcomed.

Will download the update and install.

Thanks for the note.

Mark Jones
I can't wait till the patch comes out that fixes the audio files on these mov files the ATC 9K makes. I am using PD8 right now and am having a great time using it. In fact I am so pleased with the 4 movies I made this week I am thinking of upgrading my video system to take advantage of the 64 bit multicore processors and Graphics card.

The ease of use and the reliabiity of PD8 makes me want to sing and dance. In my 14 plus years of video editing Powerdirector 8 has them all beat and it's the best price.

So when PD9 comes out and will handle the mov files on the time line I will put my PD9 back on the computer and get to using all the new stuff in PD9.

Great program.

My audiencies are small a few hundred folk at a time and PD8 is doing a great job on them.

Mark Jones
I have the same copy on my desktop and my personal laptop. I don't use them both at the same time using the same program. That would warrant me to buy another version if so.

Both have internet access and both validate and register the software. It's a bonus having it connected up to the internet.

Again if your going to be using it at the same time on both computers you need to pay for it.

Yup it's called heavenly rewards. Right now on this ole earth.. Ma Bell- at&t pays my way with long days and 200 - 500 hours of over time in a year.

Royal Rangers can be found in most any Assemblies of God or Church of God Churches. It's a lot of work and alot of fun. Everything is bent around Jesus yet we don't use conventional preaching. We use the camping - scouting programs. It gives us the time to show by doing and living.

It's good stuff. I have been in it for 20 years.

I found out why I had such a time installing PD8. I have Pinnacle Studio installed. It was locking down the Quck Tracks. I ended up uninstalling Pinnicle Studio Editions then running the SmartSound cleaners and everything is working now.

I didn't realize I didn't have smartsound in PD8 until last night. So I worked on it until about 10:30 until I finally reallized it was the Pinnicle HD that was keeping it from installing and that program was so buggy it rarely produced even a short movie with out a lot of work. It's gone. PowerDirector 8 is doing a great job and it hasn't locked up yet.

The ATC 9k has a 130 degree Lens as well. The fish eye effect showed up in some of the pictures as well. Here is how I had my camera mounted on my climbing helmet.

http://readyrangers.tzo.com/2011Batcave/DSC_0085.jpg

I was very pleased with the headcam it came out better then what I thought it would. I was able to get 4 hours of HD 30 frames a second video.

Considering I lost the functions of a video camera in the back of that cave once.. I was not wanting to repeat it. I heard another guy lost his camera function in the cave as well. I did warn them. The humidity is really high there.

It was cool being able to record 4 hours of antics around the cave around the fire and in our council fire services. The camera exceeded my expectations. It has its limitations but for those times when I am out on the trail, floating the river, climbing or rappelling or camping out miles from the vehicle this little gem works great. I used it to record a pole climbing the other day. It was a cool 0 degrees. I can just about forget its on my head and it just keeps recording.

I am again impressed. Last night I took a 20 minute stock mov file from my ATC 9K camera and put it on the time line in PD8 and ran a tool on it to make it steady. I watched this morning and compared it to the original footage. It makes a big difference in the footage. GREAT JOB PowerDirector.

I am looking forward to the patch so I can move my editing up to PD9.

Mark Jones
PD8 is rendering them just fine and the audio files are showing on the time line. I just for a test compiled 40 gig of mov files into a avi file and PD8 rendering it in 17 hours. I was astounded. The video played fine I only watched about 5 minutes of it then deleted it.

Yet from my experience with video editing. I was impressed with PD8. It rarely locks up here. If I give it time it does it's job.

Mark Jones
I did a web update and it cleans files that are not part of my website. Sorry about that.

PD8 renderes the mov files and shows the audio on the time line. PD9 didn't show the audio part of the mov file.

The player in both pd8 and pd9 plays the video but it lags way behind the audio.

Pd8 produces raw mov files with perfect sync and they play great. I love pd8. I look forward to the pd9 fix.

PowerDirector is a great program. I love it's ease of use and its power.

Mark Jones
Ths is a short shot of the cave with the ATC 9k it's low end resolution but PD8 did render it with out any issues from the stock mov files. The player still has the same effect as PD9 with the video lagging well behind the audio but at least the PD8 will render the files.

PD8 rendered all my 4 hours of HD stock mov footage from my camera and rendered it into a AV file it took it 17 hours to do it...but it did it and I am sold on PD8.

The Batcave campout went well here is some pictures and a report will soon be posted with it as well.
http://readyrangers.tzo.com/2011Batcave/2011batcave.htm Pictures are coming in from about 4 sources. We had 52 camping in that cave.

I am liking pd8 more and more. It's doing the job and it's doing it well.

Hi Nina. Got the 1618 error fixed and have a fix for the cold ... Me and about 60 Royal Rangers (church boyscouts )are camping in a cave tommarrow night. It's always a balmy 57 degrees in the back of that cave. I am going to be using my new waterproof - shockproof ATC 9K HD Video camera this time to take some video of the event. 15 years ago I brought in a VHS camera and it wasn't the same after that...grin. This time the video camera is made for it. I am so excited to take the footage and edit up a movie for youtube when I get back.

Fun stuff.

Mark Jones
p.s. Its going to be 50 degrees during the day and about 24 at night. So it will be great weather in or out of the cave.

try 0 to -5 degrees, for several weeks!
At the moment we only have 15, and it feels like spring.

Hope you get your problem fixed.

Well after some googling and trying several cleaners and things. This is what I did that worked.

I ran the pd8 install again. At the first opening screen where it has 3 install options.

Press CTLR ALT DEL and open the task manager. Under the processes tab I found 2 instances of msiexe running. I stopped both of those processes. Closed task manager and then clicked on the Install PD8 button.

Install went fine. Program renders the Super rendered mov file and I got brave and added a title and particle effect and it produced fine and was in sync.

Thanks for your help here.

I may remove pd8 now and reinstall pd9 and see how it does using the rendered mov file that super makes from my stock camera mov file. Sometimes these things take a little tweaking to get them to go.

Mark Jones
Thanks. I will pursue it. I have already favorited several links to look at when I get the time at home.

Mark Jones
I uninstalled PD9 and installed PD8 on my laptop. (desktop still gives me the 1618 error if I try to install it even after running the clcleaner).

The mov file plays the same as PD9 in the PD video player video is slow motion and audio is out of sync and finishes before the video. Audio does show up on the PD8 time line and the video plays on the time line but no audio.

Still trying to resolve the install error 1628.

Did several reg cleaners. Tried some error 1618 resolutions with windows still not able to install PD8 or 9.

This is kind of fun. I haven't given up yet. We have some 60 Royal Rangers camping in a cave Friday night so I am in Ranger mode for the next few nights getting ready.

Mark Jones

Ha. Try climbing a 30 foot pole then you find out what cold is part of my job is being a lineman. My 23 year old daughter just moved up north to Wisconsin its' always 20 degrees colder there than here in Missouri. They were down for Christmas and thought it was a heat wave. GRIN!
I have about 60 church boyscouts camping in a cave this weekend. I hope the weather isnt' nice..GRIN! 3 years ago we were camping in that cave and we had a icestorm of the century. That was fun.

It's going to be fun to edit some of that footage with Powerdirector. A picture is cool but a video is like almost being there.

That is the same I was getting as well from my laptop and my desktop. Quicktime plays it fine and the player that came with the camera plays it fine.

Will try and get the PD8 installed and test it when I get home from work.

Mark Jones
Thanks. Sent to your link.

This morning. I had a customer trouble report her dsl had no sync. I have several test sets. It was about 20 degrees outside and wind blowing. I had to warm up my testsets and replace the battery in my tone due to the cold. Each meter I had was telling me wrong information. I knew they were but between all of them telling me wrong info.. I used good common sense and had the open wire fixed with just 2 pole climbings..its cold up there. I used my new ATC 9k head cam and narriated the video and what I was doing. I have 32 years with at&t and one of these days that video will bring some good grins to my face of the good ole days.

Thanks for your help on this .mov thing and the install error. I understand this stuff is sometimes pickled.. (half our stuff at at&t works most of the time) and have been through lots of it with other software so thanks.

Hi. After about 4 hours last night I cried "Uncle" for the night and went to bed at 12:30 pm. I go to bed at 8:30 so you can see I was wanting to beat this thing.

I tried the uninstall of pd9. It would not uninstall. I then tried the pd8 cd and it tried to uninstall vd9. It tried 78 times before I had to hit the power off button. It kept loading up the installer for vd8 and just kept opening the same window and it counted up to 78.

I ran a reg cleaner and the same error.

Feature Transfere Error
Error -1618 Another installation is already in
progress. Complete that installation
before proceeding with this install.

My windows installer worked fine installing a quick little program for a test. It's just for PowerDirector 8 or 9. I also tried ot reinstall VD9 from CD. Still same Feature Transfere Error.

I went out on the web and found this 1618 error is the Windows Installer but after some 20 attempts and editing the registry it's still there.

I have a backup from 3 weeks ago and have already backed up my changed data today. All I have left is for some grand soul to put me on the right registry cleaner and save me from putting my backup on the disk.

I was doing this to double check PD8 would edit the mov files correctly. PD9 isn't at this time.

I haven't given up yet. ....

I have tried installing from 3 sources. They all do the same thing. Anyone have a good reg cleaner that works that is free?

Any ideas?

Mark Jones
I did a search for the Panatm700 but didn't pull anything up except some non english sites. Is it a waterproof camera?

You should be using a SD Class 6 minimum for HD and especially if you're recording to 1080p 60fps.

Interesting you say that and I agree however my PanaTM700 specifies Class 4 and above and indeed I record onto a 32Gb class 4 without any problems in 1080p60. Some of the data recorded peaks over 36Mbps. I suspect the buffer within the camera allows for this.
I have a 10 second HD 30 frames a second mov file. I didn't find a way to upload it here. I can post it on my server when I get home tonight and give you a link to it. Here is the link and I will get it posted tonight after 7pm:

http://readyrangers.tzo.com/atc9k.mov

Or if you have a quicker way let me know and I can upload it that way.

I checked out your camera and the gopro. I am often outside... camping, caving, hiking and backpacking, kayaking and I work outside as well for at&t. So a waterproof - shock proof was a big seller to me.

I have seen a lot of cameras ruined where I go so I got this just before Christmas. I have a peltzi helmet coming in this week to mount it on and I bought a CLASS 4 (recommended but your right a 6 would be faster a buddy bought a class 10 this last week) 32 gig card should be here this week as well.

Thanks for the interest in the video mov file. Quick time plays it fine. I am going to double check that PD8 plays and edits it fine tongiht but will need to remove 9 and reinstall. I want to double check it.

I am glad to help in any way I can.
