Hey all-

I've encountered a bump in the road with my DVD conversions using PowerDirector 5 Premium. For some reason after I've created a DVD and played it in my DVD player, it'll freeze up when I try to rewind it. It'll even lock up if I try to fast forward it. However, if I simply create an MPEG-2, import it in an older version of Nero, then put it on a DVD, everthing works fine. Has any one else experienced this problem?

Thanks for the assistance.
During the DVD burning process, my Power DVD and Power DVD express open. Can anyone explain this to me or provide a quick assist?

Have a good one,
Joe
Hello and thank you for replying to my post.

I have a 5.4 GB MPEG-2 file encoded under DVD HQ (4 hours) that I want to put on a timeline to splice up in half (onto 2 DVDs). It's a personal video of my family from America's Funniest Home Videos from 1996, and they got a lot of footage.
When I put it on the timeline in Power Director Premium 5, it shows 4 hours, but only 1 hour of viewable video, where it seems like there is a big chunk taken out of the middle. So the timeline shows 4 hours, but only the first hour is viewable.

I purposely set encoding time to 4 hours, because I know I have a lot of footage. I've also tried encoding in 2 sessions of 2 hours to no avail. When I opened it up in PowerDVD, it only played 1 hour of total video. I then opened it up in Windows Media Player and it played the entire 4 hours. The sound/video for what plays in PDP5 and PDVD are right on the mark.

I'd hate to resort to using other software to try this process, since I've spent over $150 on this software. I'm hoping that there is a fix somehow. Maybe I should try encoding using Divx? I do have the updated divx software on my computer, so if that is a suggestion I'll try that.

Again, thank you for your reply, as this will not only be beneficial to me but to others who may be experiencing the same as me.
I've had issues viewing a movie file after encoding a 4-hour VHS tape thru my TV tuner card. The problem is that Power Director 5 will not play the entire file, as most of it appears to be missing in the middle. However, when I play this movie in Windows Media Player, it'll play the whole thing. Has anyone else had this issue?

It should be noted that I uninstalled all burning software and reinstalled only Cyberlink. I also attempted to reencode my VHS tape without any items running in my system tray... to no avail. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Merry X-mas to all!!!
I think I answered my own question. Just found a website that may be able to assist all of us. By searching the model number of your DVD player, you can see which discs are compatible with it.

Looking for a quick assist with this quick question:

Can anyone tell me if all DVD+R Double Layer discs can play on all DVD players? Otherwise, I understand that most DVD-R single layers can play on most. Thank you kindly!
Hey Dan-

I had a problem using the smart fit function as well, except it was on DVD-R 4.7GB discs. My problem was that, although the old VCR tape I encoded where the sound/video was in sync with each other, the sound/video was off by a split second on the DVD. I sent a question to support today and got a response saying to uninstall all burning software (including Nero and Pinnacle), then reinstalling the Power Director software.

I am at that point right now, and will post a follow-up to let you know what my outcome was after the uninstalling process in a day or so. Otherwise, has your situation changed since your last post?
