Have downloaded trial PD9 and everything looks fine except, I don't know what the small icon with books coming out of a box.
Every time I click on it i start extracting a long list but, I have stopped it because I don't know what it is.

What video quality should I record in?
My objective is to produce high quality standard DVDs and have the least problems while learning PD9 and my camcorder.

Soon after I need to learn HD also.

What blank DVDs should I use: DVD-R, DVD+R ,etc

My Canon HF S21 recording settings: MXP, FXP, XP, SP, LP.

what would you consider "ideal" amount of ram for seroius HD editing?
I don't have "Crossfire" but I think "SLI" is its equivalent; so I assume that should be turned off?
