What video quality should I record in?
My objective is to produce high quality standard DVDs and have the least problems while learning PD9 and my camcorder.

Soon after I need to learn HD also.

What blank DVDs should I use: DVD-R, DVD+R ,etc

My Canon HF S21 recording settings: MXP, FXP, XP, SP, LP. EVGA (132-BL-E758-TR) X58 ATX
Intel i7 920 Quad Core
Win 7 Prof, 64 bit
NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 285, 1GB
12GB SDRAM DDR3 1600.

I don't see any harm in recording at the max quality you can in case you want to go HD in the future.

The DVD's I use for duplicating my friends show in mass quantities are:

TapeandMedia.com

I get my DVD-R's and Dual Layer DVD's from ebay in bulk of at least 250. Inkjet printable. Have been for several years. I go through between 200 and 500 DVD's every couple of months. One annual project I am working on now is a request for 650 DVD's this year. They will be D/L.....

I normally get them from the same vendor every time. Not the bid items but the buy now items. The closest computer store or wal mart to me is over 200 miles.

I have got them as low as 6 cents apiece with free shipping. Brand name varies and sometimes no brand name.

I seldom have any that do not work.

Sorry to get off topic, but do you have a CD printer Bubba? I have been trying to find one to print the labels, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of options. I have used a multipurpose printer, but they are incredibly stubborn when printing on CD's.

Now, if space isn't an issue, I also recommend the highest setting possible. I shoot in 1080i and convert to DVD. I see a noticeable difference over the SD camera that shoots in MPEG 2 for DVD. 720p might be a better option for low light. __________________________________

Jaime,

Epson just started shipping DVD printers in the last few months to the USA

I got an ESPON ARTISON 725 at staples for about $150 with a rebate. I was looking for two years, no one was making them for a while. The EPSON web site shows 3 models that will print direct to disk (has special tray built-in. (ink costs almost as much as printer, but the quality is outstanding) RTX 2060 SUPER 8GB GDDR6
(2 NVME 2TB, 1 SSD 2TB, 3SATA 18TB )
PD18 ULTIMATE 64bit
WINDOWS 10 PRO 64 BIT
GIGABYTE X570 AORUS PRO WIFI MB
RYZEN 7 3700X 8-CORE , 64 GB DDR4
ORSAIR HX1050 watts PSU
