Dafydd - this is VERY promising

It's 1:30AM (01:30) here, but I just downloaded and tested the 2810 patch and did some quick tests.

A/V unlink issue: I have run the tests documented in this thread, this thread and even this one, and ALL NOW WORK CORRECTLY!!!!
Since these tests ALWAYS broke the clips previously, I am very, very relieved to find that I cannot break a clip using any of them

I did not keep a record of every project that ended up with broken clips, but I have opened several projects from the past couple of months that would likely have had the unlink issue and almost all had clips that were perfectly intact and aligned

On the projects that still had damaged clips, I could repair them using the steps in this video, and the clips remained fixed when I reopened the project. This is new and significant (Note that you may need to delete the transition across two damaged clips before you can repair each of them, then add the transition again when finished)

GTX 7xx slowness: Unfortunately, there is no change in this issue - but that was not expected from the description of this patch. Please move this to the top of the To Do list!

Patch Summary: Optodata says "Install this patch NOW!"

Hi,

I have an important issue with this beta patch.

To stabilize some of my sequences, I use ProDAD Mercalli V3. After installing the beta patch, PD12 crashes at opening when there is such a sequence in the media room or/and on the timeline.

Mercalli V3 exports in MP4 or MOV format in differents qualities. I tried to open a new project and import a sequence I exported from Mercalli V3: Bingo, PD12 crashed (With the MP4 and with the MOV export)....

There was no problem before installing this beta patch.

I hope this issue will be solved before an official update comes.... In the meantime, I have to roll back to the previous level of PD12.

Weird, I posted a detailed reply along with two attachments hours ago but it didn't show up

Anyway, Bhajje I agree with Barry that your clip crashes my PD12 while his two clips are OK. Something goes wrong when PD12 tries to generate a thumbnail, and I posted the URL of this forum thread in the crash report so that Cyberlink would know where to find a copy of your clip.

For fun, I ran the clip through the excellent and free Format Factory video converter utility. I converted it to MOV (it took about 10 seconds), and I had no trouble importing that clip into PD12. I've attached it for you to try.

While waiting for a fix from Cyberlink, I think you have a couple of choices: stay with the 2726 patch because that works with your Mercalli clips; or use Format Factory (or an equivalent converter) with the 2810 patch if you have been experiencing the A/V unlink issue.

Hopefully Cyberlink will be able to figure out the cause and include a fix in the next patch!

Hi, Barry and Optodata,

Many thanks for your tests.

Barry, I use Mercalli version 3.0.255. The same for you? I downloaded your files, and no pb to import them in PD12.

Optodata, yes, I can convert these clips with Format Factory, or an other tool, like Handbracke for exemple (I made it with Handbrake, and no pb to import the exported file in PD12), but it's a little heavy if we have a lot of mercalli exported clips, specially on an existing project. For today, I choose to come back to the 2726 build, having for now not encountered the A/V unlick issue.

Thank to have attached the link of this thread to the crash report. Jean-Paul

SORRY... IT'S NOW WORKING FINE....

I previously installed 2816 over the 2810 build.
After coming back to 2726, and installing 2816, I have NO MORE issue with the MP4 files coming from Mercalli V3.

Many thanks to the Cybelink team and all of you... Jean-Paul

That's a great turn-around time for fixing the Mercalli issue!

I've downloaded and started testing 2816, and so far no new issues or any old issues returning.

Something strange did happen when I was trying to download the downloader program though. Instead of getting the prompt to save or run right away, it took a dozen tries over several minutes to get a response. The most worrisome thing was that AVG gave me 2 detected virus warnings during this time - two programs that I'd never heard of were found on 2 different drives - and it seems like the downloader link *might* be compromised.

If you've (re)downloaded the downloader for this new patch, you may want to run a thorough anti-virus scan in case something else got downloaded as well

Note to self: For unknown reasons I didn't bother to install Zone Alarm Pro on my Win8 machines, even though I've relied on that firewall since WinXP. Am installing right now!

UPDATE: I checked my anti-virus logs, and one of the files was detected about six hours before I started working on the computer. That one is almost certainly unrelated to downloading the new patch, especially since it's listed as a "corrupt executable file" rather than a virus, worm or trojan.

The second file is more concerning, because it showed up in my download directory right in the middle of trying to download the patch downloader. On my system, it's called "15th-Accident.exe" but often viruses are named differently on every system. Please keep your eyes open, folks

BabIndia, try deleting or renaming the existing 2810 patch on your computer then run the downloader again. You can also try running my batch file again and see if it helps.

It would be nice if the downloader would always know to only pull the most recent patch, but until then we're left with trying to force it with these few tools.
