Hi Lowery,

This issue has been discussed before. Enclosed find a previous link.

Please be aware that the use of motion templates can disturb your settings.

Hi Dafydd,

You are welcome.

I am still using PDR5, and not Premium, and are still wondering about the differences.

After what I have read the only differences are additional templates and the possibilty to upload directly to iPod, PSP and YouTubes.com.

Hi Dafydd,

No one says it is a hassle to burn a DVD in PDR 5.

Shawn, myself and others are simply missing the function "Back to main Menu" when creating a disc with menus.

This function is supported in other programs like PowerProducer 3.7, Power2Go5, Nero Burning, etc.

Hi Shawn,

I am using PowerProducer 3.7, and here the "Back to Main Menu" function is supported.

In Power2Go2 which can be dowloaded for free as a member you can only use VCD.

Hopefully, CyberLink will introduce this function at the next update of PDR 5.

Hi Shawn,

No, there is no way around in PDR 5.

But, it can be done in many other burning programs like PowerProducer, Power2Go, Nero Burning, etc.

By the way: This issue has been discussed previously. Please enclosed find the link.

Hi...

At the CyberLink home page I found the following comments at FAQ-front page for PowerProducer:

"Latest PowerDirector 5.5 patches which fix some major bugs".

Interesting - maybe a new main patch is coming soon.

When clicking the icon I am receiving the download pages with the three new pathes (files) from 02.08.06.
Hi Agosta,

I am not using chapters in PDR 5, but is producing more and smaller movies.

In PowerProducer 3 I import all the produced .AVI files I want to use in my project, and with them create a menu. In the menu settings you can choose "Back to main menu" .

I do not know how PP3 is reacting on PDR5 produced .AVI files containing chapters.

Hi Agosta,

I do not know if other burning programs accept chapters from PDR 5, but intuitively I would suggest that you produce more and smaller movies instead of using chapters.

Hi Agosta,

I too hope that Cyberlink will introduce this feature in the next update, but I am not sure as they probably not consider the lack of "back to main menu feature" as a mistake.

In PDR5 you can produce a movie from your project in different file formats e.g. AVI or MPEG-2.

These produced movies can be imported and used in menus in most burning programs as NERO or PowerProducer 3.
Hi Everyone,

New patches are now available at the CyberLink home page.

However, be careful !!!!

Make sure you have a copy of the original four files (PDAuthorBAT.dll, PDAuthorGVD.dll, DIEGO.dll and AEFFMgr.dll) before installing the new patches.

After installing the new DIEGO.dll I could not open any PDS-files any longer. But after re-installing the old DIEGO.dll everything worked again.

Cyberlink is instructing that the new patches only are for persons with the actual problems.

Hi Everyone,

This file is now available at the Cyberlink home page.

Hi Agosta,

This file is now availlable as a patch at the Cyberlink home page.

Hi Bora,

I followed your suggestion. It works extremely well and took less than two minutes.

Thank you.
Hi Grumpysister (hmmm !!!!!)

Thank you for your reply. I guess you are saying that even we cannot change the physics.

However, I am using both PDR 5 and PowerProducer 3 for burning, and my intuitive feelings are that - wihtout any direct comparisons - PP 3 is faster.

Especially, in sitatuions (20 to 25 % of the cases) were the PDR 5 get stucked completely during the burning proces - approximately after 10 to 15 %. Afterwards, I have to re-boot my computer and start all over again.

Is that the problem you are seeing as well ?
Hi Turner,

Very interesting. I am sure that most of us have experienced the very slow burning proces of PDR 5.

I searched at the CyberLink homepage, but could not find anything about the ZIP-file AM1229. However, at the FAQ I found some of the issues also discussed in this forum.

Do you know how others than you two guys can receive this ZIP-file ?

Of cause we could all mail Tech Support, but ....
Hi Gerd,

In the members zone you will find the column called "Product Management" and here the item "Check for free bonuses".

For PDR 5 you will find five new transitions and 25 new title effects.

I could download these without any problems.

You should first of all make sure that you have the latest patch - build 1227.

Hi Cariad,

Have you seen the article in the "Knowledge Center" ?

It is called "Making most out of Picture-in-Picture effects".

Please find enclosed the link :

Hi Ed,

I understand your confusion.

I use PDR 5.0 build 1227.

I have experienced that, when you select "New Workspace" your timeline and storyboard (Workspace) is cleared but the Library is unchanged. And when you select "New Project" both Workspace and Library is cleared.

In both situations you can give your Project a new name.

If you would like to use the actual movie clips in a new project you must select "New Workspace" - I believe.

Dear Stevenson,

Assuming that we are talking about the same problem I received the following message from Customer support for your information:

"In regard to your issue, we regret to say that PowerDirector 5.0 do not support back to main menu feature. This feature is not supported by PowerDirector 5.0. "

After this message I still use PDR5.0 for capturing, editing and producing my movies. But for burning and creating menus I now use PowerProducer 3, were the "back to main menu" feature is supported.
