Just did the update so disregard my previous post...
Performance of PIP has greatly improved for me..I have to say I see no noticeable lag in any of it now..opens quickly...closes and reopens fine...all effects seem to respond immediately..

I am running win 8.1 with the NVIDIA 760M card and the latest updated video driver.

Thanks for the link, Dafydds I've just downloaded the patch.

I've checked the Display Program version for PD12 info and it shows 12.0.2817.0 Is this correct ?

For some reason I'm experiencing dreadful screen refresh problems and a very stuttery timeline

Cheers

Dafydd, this is really great!

1. Resolves issue that video and audio become unlinked after loading a project that previously had its video speed changed and clips trimmed. This is completely fixed!

3. Fixes the Fill Shadow function in the Title Designer. This is fixed and the shadow length settings are retained, so Font Shadow now works perfectly!

2. Improves preview performance for PiP Designer under Windows 8.1 with an NVIDIA 700 series graphics card platform. I think this is an improvement, but I want to do a little more testing. See UPDATE below

In a single project, I have some variations in the time it takes for the window to open and for the content to appear. With some clips I have the PiP window (and the content) appear in < 1 second; in others it takes about 1 second for the window to appear and another second or two for the content,
but only with 60p clips!

With 30p clips, the PiP window with content is always ready in < 1 second.

If there are any keyframes, power tools, fixes/enhancements, FX, etc., it can take as long as 6 seconds for the window content to be ready (with both 30p and 60p clips), but maybe that's to be expected

Let me test this with the previous version and with the HD4600 instead of the GTX 780 and I'll post an update on whether my system is more responsive with the new patch.

UPDATE: I am now officially happy with the resolution of Item 2!

Testing the PiP window response time on the same project with v2915 shows that previously it would take 4-6 seconds for the PiP Designer window to appear and be ready to edit, even with 30p clips. On clips with keyframes, FX, etc. it took 1 sec for the window to appear but as long as 9 seconds for the content to show up.

With 2923 the window and content opens in 1sec for plain clips and in 5-6 sec for keyframes, etc. so 2923 is definitely a major improvement!

It FINALLY feels like the biggest issues that have been dogging us for all these months are actually getting resolved.

Thank you Davydd and all the other members who've helped to document, confirm and report these problems, and a big thanks to CL for listening to us and then finding and fixing the problems

No, PD12 should always show the version that you just downloaded.

Try renaming your existing 2817 patch to anything else (e.g. add/remove/change a letter) and run the downloader patch from this thread again. If you still end up with 2817, PM me for a fix.

Just tried out the PiP (Modify) window having installed this patch- hoping to finally see some
improvements. And I did! There are improvements!
From what I can see from the little testing I have so far had time to do, I have to be satisfied
with the 1 sec of black before content shows up - in and out of PiP.
Hitting “play” in PiP, now it plays to (hit) the last keyframe, but moving back to start, the
scrubber ( in PiP) does still not move to (hit) the first keyframe, it has to be moved there manually.

But, the content seems to be moving back to start along with the scrubber!
Improvement!

It looks like I will be able to edit with PD again.
Oh - happy day!

Just something.

I'm pleased to say that thanks to optodata I now have v2923 on my system. It's a bit late in the day for me to try it out beyond the launching stage ( just under 2 sec ! )

so a BIG thank you to everyone for their help! I just want to edit and make pictures, walk my dog and go fishing.

Glad to add that I have experienced a big change in the Pixelan menu opening up. Around the 2 second mark now.
Hopefully with the bugs getting ironed out we'll see some further improvements/new features added before the next release.
