Robert,

It is possible to demux the H264 and audio tracks from mp4 streams using yamb. http://yamb.unite-video.com/ This will give an audio and video streams in a few seconds.

Then the streams can be combined to a ts stream using tsmuxer. http://www.smlabs.net/tsmuxer_en.html (It may be necessary to select all file types when opening some types of streams or alternatively drag the files onto the program.) The output file is then created containing the original h264 and audio data in a ts stream.

In this way it is also then possible to use h264 TS cutter for h264 mp4's.

You see that is where the problem is, my camera outputs AVC/H.264 MPEG-4 but with so many different variations with most being called the same name, what chance have we or for that matter the produces of editing programs got to make things work.
yes, this program is better suited to avchd as opposed to mp4. I have used Handbrake to trans-code .mov clips to .mkv. and then they can be processed.

Now if I could just get the ability of my camera to cut, split, and join the native files but in a software program in my computer it would really make editing a breeze, no re-encoding, just full clarity and definition.

Exactly, this type of basic functionality should be in programs like PD. The SVRT function attempts this but falls short. It would be nice to have a quick and dirty function alongside the bells and whistles.
Hi Robert,

Thanks for the COMODO related feedback.

I checked the following link before installing the program and it indicates that it threat free. http://www.virustotal.com/analisis/cef80f83581f353d2061db9e7686467d296bdb2090e858d1730764250da5faa0-1246972911
I have not had problems with the program but I am far from a security expert.

When necessary, it is possible to remux the H264 TScutter.ts output to .m2ts, blue ray, avchd disk etc. using http://www.smlabs.net/tsmuxer_en.html

For simple editing and joining 50 fps H264 clips I use H264_cutter.

It can trim clips in multiple sections and join several such edited clips together into one file.

It does not re encode the stream so it is lightening fast and keeps the original quality of the clips.

The size of the program is 566 Kb installed and it is a free utility. It can be downloaded from many sites including http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/H264TS-Cutter-Download-69563.html

In general this utility does what I need. Do some clip editing and join the clips into a short movie, all at lightening quick speed and while preserving the original quality.

I think it would be good if PD had a similar mode.
I did some further reading and found a similar thread at http://forums.adobe.com/thread/430927

...................Try the last version of Sony Vegas 9, it works wonderfully with Panasonic 720/50p (Panasonic codec seems to come from Sony...) You can even render the file in 720/25p or even 720/50p (by typing 50 in the combo box) Use File Advanced New personalized Template, Format:AVC, Size 1280x720
Binary Kbits Base Line
Profil CAVLS
Imlmage 25 or 50(type it)
Encoding 20000
Audio 192000
And you get an mp4 file with the same characteristics that your original and the same quality.................

Is it possible to set a parameter ImImage or something like it in PD7 custom AVC mpeg 4 properties?
I have a Panasonic TZ7 which makes movies in AVCHD lite which is 720p. I would like to produce these movies using SVRT if possible as my TV plays avchd from a sdhc card.

If I use a custom avc mpeg 4 profile that "roughly" matches the audio and video bit rates it allows me to select the SVRT function for production.

The SVRT 3 window appears but the rendering seems to be no faster than without SVRT. Also the produced video is 25 fps when the source is 50 fps which leads me think that SVRT is probably only working for the audio?

Does any one have experience with SVRT and the Panasonic TZ7? Is there a way to set the output frame rates in custom avc mpeg 4 profiles? Is it necessary to set additional parameters in the custom avc profiles to better match the source video in order to make this work?

Thanks,
William
I updated the program to build 3017 and the issue went away. It is now possible to use all the magic movie modes without disabling the vista aero interface. :
Hi, I did some further testing including installing PD7 different builds.

What I found is that if I disable windows aero then all the magic movie templates work as they should.

I will post again if I figure out further details.

Thanks,
William
Thanks Dafydd for the info. I tried the patch and the behavior is the same.

My guess is that my problem is related to a video codec as the two movie themes that work do not have .wmv files in the associated styles folder. (Any of the movie styles with .wmv files do not work.)

I will try the program on another computer this weekend to trouble shoot further.
Tony, thank you for the information. It may well be something in my system that causes some of the magic movie templates to hang.

Dafydd, the version number I show is 7.0.2726 and the SR number is VDE080909-01.

Thanks,
William

Hi,

I am new to powerdirector 7 ultimate. I was trying to use magic movie but it only seems to work for 2 themes, pets and baby. When I select another theme it hangs after analysis of the video, and the only way to continue is to quit the application. Is this normal? Any suggestions would much appreciated.
