Usually it was much easier to identify missing C++ redistributable as upon launch a MSVCR code was the error message like OP here. https://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/0/85623.page#354472

I'm not a CAM user, but it appears launching any app via CAM this no longer occurs. I wonder if other launch methods would have supplied the more standard C++ error. Anyway, CAM and/or standalone program installs should catch this basic issue but they've missed for years.

Jeff

For sure.

Being a .NET developer myself, i understand things can easily get overlooked. Similarly, i also know how easy it is (at least in visual studio) to package dependencies, but again easily overlooked. I have also myself made the assumption that things are so readily available on the internet that in the case of an error, it's easily resolved. Regrettably 0xc00007b errors dont fall into that category since the scope is so wide.

As a side note, i attempted launching the individual apps without the CAM, as admin, to no avail until i dug deeper with dependency walker, then it was clear almost immediately what i needed to do. But a complete neophyte? I could see them getting frustrated unnecessarily.

Thanks again Jeff for attempting to help out!

Tom
I wanted to post a follow-up to my own problem and thank optodata and JL_JL for their responses.

After having used Dependency Walker (x64 version), and Profiling the .EXE i was receiving the error on, it seemed that one of the Microsoft Visual C++ redistributables were missing (in my opinion it might behoove Cyberlink to check for it before install), and in my case i simply downloaded all the MSVC++ redistributables for both x86 and x64 - not knowing which distributable was the offender.

Upon doing this, and restart, all the Cyberlink Director suite applications now operate normally.

For reference im going to link the Microsoft Page where i got the list of Redistributables from in case anyone runs into a similar problem.

Thanks again all!

Quote Ok, here's my original response:

CL tech support typically responds M-F Taiwan time, so you might have to wait another day to hear back.

In the meantime, it's clear that the installation didn't go smoothly and I suggest removing all the apps (use the normal Windows uninstaller or right-click on each app in the App Manager). Next, right-click on the App Manager desktop icon and choose Run as Administrator and then try installing the PD365 app again:

If you still have trouble, uninstall PD365 again and this time also uninstall the App Manager. Run the two commands shown in bold in this post to check and repair any damage to Windows' core system files. Run them again if you get any messages that said some files could not be repaired.

Once that comes back clean, right click on the App Manager installer and run that as an Admin, then reinstall PD365.

Will give it a shot, thank you (and Jeff) both for the responses. Much appreciated.

EDIT: As a follow-up, none of what was detailed in the post you suggested worked for me. Still, no matter which app i install, they all issue the 0xc00007b error immediately upon launch.

I've also thought that position/applicability about CAM too but I'm not sure that view on the current CAM is valid or not. This user claims he used it to install many variations of PD which is rather contrary to CL FAQ as I had posted. https://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/96816.page#post_box_389360

It may be some expanded CAM feature since CL is working hard to remove any perpetual key offerings for the mainstream.

Jeff

Jeff, while in the CAM, if i right click on the application, it gives me the option to Uninstall. Ive done that several times and re-installed it, as advice on various forums, stackoverflow etc., even Microsoft advises to re-install the App(s) in question.
Quote I had typed up a whole response on how to troubleshoot issues with the App Manager, but if you purchased the Ultimate version you shouldn't be using the App Manager at all. Also, you do not have the subscription version.

PD20 Ultimate is a standalone product that you should have received a dedicated download link for. Please uninstall the App Manager and install PD20 using the installer downloaded from the link in your purchase confirmation email. DO NOT install the trial/free version as that cannot be updated to the licensed version.

I think i Misspoke.

I actually purchased the annual 365 version for $89.99

The download link sent me first to the CAM manager to install all the apps. But none of them work, giving me the aforementioned 0xc00007b error for each of them.

I have updated Windows, checked DirectX is up to date, have all versions of .NET Runtime, Im really at a loss here.
First time purchaser (ultimate) and first time (hopefully soon to be) user of cyberlink software.

I have to say i am a bit displeased as, from a fresh install, all of my drivers are up to date, windows fully updated, Windows 10 x64, 16GB RAM, 3GB 1060 nVidia .....

Anytime i choose to launch any application included in the Ultimate, I receive the following:

Supposedly with the subscription came priority support, but im not sure what the turn-around time is on that.

Can anyone help with this?
