Quote I vaguely remember that this new AMD GPU has some compatibility issues with powerdvd.

Try turning TrueTheater video options off, and then check the playback.

QC2.0

Thank you! In Advanced Enhancement tab I tried first turning off just TruTheater HDR because that flagged as unavailable because my monitor doesn't support HDR, that didn't do it. Then I turned off the other items one at a time: TruTheater HD, TruTheater Lighting, and TruTheater Color, no joy. But then I finally tried just turning off the parent control for these named "children" and that did the trick! This makes me very happy!

Next stop, try to eventually find a larger monitor than my 34" LG Ultrawide 3440 x 1440 at 21:9 that also has FreeSync and HDR!

Thank you again!
Today I installed Power DVD 19 purchased on November 20 for my new AMD system and the first movie (Alita Battle Angel) displays what appears to be only the left half of the picture in what looks like an entirely green pixilated picture except with a tiny PIP insert of full color down in lower right of my screen and that lovely color PIP is about one inch high by three to four inches in width, but the green left-half of the movie picture itself is centered on my 34" ultrawide monitor. Hard to explain, but very bizarre, and impossible to watch for any length of time! Technology is great when it works!

I think I saw a message that said 3D Now Technology was not recognized by PowerDVD 19. Power DVD 18 worked fine with the same monitor connected to my old AMD computer!

New AMD system:
OS Windows 10 Pro 64 bit, Version 1903
CPU AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 32GB RAM
GPU AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT 8GB

Obviously, some setting is causing a horrible viewing experience. AMD's 3D Now technology has been around for years as I recall so one would think that Power DVD 19 would work perfectly with it.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Thank you.
Quote Hi Marc57,

Please first before doing anything, uninstall PowerDVD without keeping the personal settings.
Then restart your PC and update your OS.
Then restart your PC and deactivate all antivirus software you have.
Now you can install PDVD, but remember if you are asked to keep the settings, so please don't. Make sure your PC is connected to the internet and activate PowerDVD.

BTW, are you facing this issue with ALL your BDs or only with some of them?

Greetings
Hicham

Hicham,

That was what I needed, it worked, thank you! Oh and yes, none of my Blu Rays would play before today. But interestingly, regular DVDs (non-Blue Ray) would play without activation apparently. It works now though. Thanks again.

Quote Hi Marc57,

Please try this:

  • Make sure that you are logged in to your computer with an Administrator user account.

  • Please temporarily disable anti-virus/ Firewall software, programs that scan or manage disk activity. These programs may conflict with the activation process. Please ensure you install and activate the full program build of CyberLink product first, before you install the patch.

  • Please double check that the serial number you entered is correct.

  • Instead of pasting a serial number using your mouse. Try to type your serial number inmanually in the activation dialog box.

Best regards
Hicham

Hi Hicham,

I removed McAfee completely, and disabled Windows 7 Pro Firewall, then launched PDVD as Administrator and ran it with a Blu Ray movie in DVD player/writer. A regular DVD will run! But Blu Ray movies will not run!

I thought I read that just launching and running PDVD for one time with Internet connection would complete the Activation process. If so, it didn't work for me!

What else do I need to do? Since my original Activation attempt last night accepted my Serial Number, I should think that part was okay. What else? So far, I'm out $80 USD for a legal download directly from PDVD which is not working... very frustrating.

McAfee Internet Security was probably blocking PDVD. But oddly enough I couldn't even launch McAfee. Probably a conflict with a Windows security update of which there were nearly 200 after the fresh Win 7 Pro installation. So I've removed McAfee completely.

So how do I resume Activation of PowerDVD 17 Pro?

Thanks!

Marc
Quote Are you sure you are using a legal version of PowerDVD, not a pirated copy?

Disable Windows Firewall temporarily and try again. Maybe PDVD needs an access to internet.
...

First sentence above, third word "buying" as in I bought a legal copy directly from PowerDVD's website.

As for needing an internet connection... of course it does for activation, sigh.
Hello,

So far buying this software has been completely unsatisfying. I've tried one each 2017 and 2015 blue ray movies and they will not play!

This is a new computer (with parts accumulated over past year plus) with a fresh install of Windows. Some details:

  • DVD: Asus 16x BW-16D1HT

  • CPU: AMD FX 8320 with 32 GB RAM

  • GPU: Radeon R9 390X with 8 GB GDDR5

  • OS: Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit SP 1 - all updates applied today before retrying Blu Ray playback.

Interestingly, when CyberLink PowerDVD 17 Pro was finishing installation, Windows 7 displayed a warning that this software did NOT have a valid Certificate! Not sure where to find this given that 99.9% of this web site is designed to sell sell sell all their products. Finding this part of their web site almost feels like an afterthought.

All I want is for this to work! If this is supposed to be the premier Blu Ray playback experiene then why won't it work? I get nothing! I click on the play icon and it tries for a while and returns without any warning codes or messages of any kind.

If anyone has solved the problem themselves, or had a positive response from CyberLink that solved their problem, I would greatly appreciate a response.

Thank you.

Marc
