I have MORE failures than successes!
Quote: Almost, the preview is not the actual output, it is just a preview, you don't see the actual output until you produce or create a disk.

Almost? I thought that was in Hand Grenades and Horseshoes.
Quote: How long was the produced Video and what format did you produce?

4 min. 2 sec. MPEG

Corel Video Studio Pro took care of it without any problems (crashes).
Quote: As a experiment, produce your project to a Video. Does the Video have all of the audio tracks?

Isn't PowerDirector a WYSIWYG program? Guess not.
Quote: If not then look in your timeline for a muted video or track.

Yes, the PRODUCEed video is missing the audio. I don't have any muted tracks.
Quote: OK OLD HIPPIE;After 35 posts...it is time for us to ask you for a DXDIAG file, please!

Quote: And does the "studder" occur during editing/preview as well as in your output file?

Yes, in Create Disc\Preview it's still there.
Well, for the price of PowerDirector I would assume that when you "PREVIEW" something it's in WYSIWYG mode "What You See Is What You Get". I don't have any spare blank DVD's to BETA test PowerDirector.
Quote: If you add more photos it will extend the duration, you could also reduce the speed with PD's power tools.

NOTE: 10 photos, not 11.
Power Tools is grayed out when selecting the photos.
I have a SLIDESHOW with 10 photos.
How do I change the duration of the SLIDESHOW from X seconds to Y seconds?
Dragging each end don't work: <->
Changing the duration of each photo, then putting them in a SLIDESHOW don't work.
I have a video and 10 photos.
I have put a TRANSITION between the video and each photo.
It hangs up briefly and jumps into the first photo.
Goes TRANSITIONs all the other photo's fine.
I've removed the TRANSITION an saved, shut PowerDirector down, opened it back up and added a different TRANSITION and it still "studders" at the first one.
No "studder" if no TRANSITION.

I have a separate music audio track (wav) that plays in background along with the main video track audio (speaking). Works fine in EDIT Clip and EDIT Movie and Media Viewer. Also works fine in Create Disc Preview.
After burning, I can hear the music but no audio that was on the video track (speaking) when playing the DVD.

Media Info is saying it's 1mn 58s. Why, I don't know. The video in 4 min. 2 sec.

Well, I had numorous problems with PowerDirector 7. It kept locking up when creating a disk about 50% of the time even when burning the same project. Tried different disk, different this, different that. Even tried a different computer. Never could get a straight answer from Cyberlink.

So, here comes PowerDirector 8. Surely a "fix". Been working on a project a couple of weeks now off and on. Now, when trying to open it I get a:
Project (99%)
Update Timeline Data

Program locked slap up! Only get out of it with a End Task in Task Manager and then PowerDirector won't even crank up again until I do a re-boot!
Amazing! One would think that if "enable video thumbnails" is turned off (unchecked), it would not play the video thumbnails in the menu.

How do I time out the menu when I click "Play"? the menu shows up in the background after the video starts for a few seconds.
Where is the list of error codes and what they mean?
I've come to the conclusion it's the Create Disc editor, scorned by many here in forum.
Quote: Do you want the background music not to load when the create disc menu is loaded? Or is your problem that you cannot turn it off at all?

I've edited one of the templates and saved it as a custom template without audio background music so it SHOULD retain this info but it doesn't.
Anyone got a clue how to neuter the Background music in Create Disc?

I've clicked the Remove background music button forty thousand times and it keeps coming back on for some stupid reason!
Anyone got a clue as to how you move Chapter 1 from the beginning of the movie to, lets say about 1 min. into the movie where Chapter 1 really is?
Quote: Do mean the ones in the Director Zone?

No, someone from CyberLink or someone in the CyberLink forum. I think I must have been delusional; in the 9th hour of editing a menu and searching in the forum for help.

Actually, I was looking for a down and dirty, very simple menu without all the whistles and bells, particularly no motion video thumbnails, just text links. I'm trying to get a menu down to a smaller size to fit it and some videos on one single sided DVD. The DVD I'm trying to make is running just over the 4700MB limit even though I have Smart Fit turned on.
From the owners manual:
"The Smart Fit option automatically adjusts the bit rate to the best quality video file that fits exactly to the capacity of the disc you are using."

Well then, how come I have Smart Fit set as the Video Quality and 4849 / 4700 MB is down at the bottom of the main Create Disc page and I get the following warning when trying to burn?:

"The detected disk size is (4699MB) is smaller than the estimated production size (4849). Are you sure the disk is large enough to accommodate your production? Press OK to continue burning."

Not too smart is it.

Menu Designer > Create Disc > Replace background image or video

Everytime I "replace" either, it just keeps stacking them on top of one another and are translucent and I can see all of them.

Anyone got a clue as to how to remove a background image or video so I don't have to start all over from scratch AGAIN?
